Summer 1994 I saw Charly Brown's Spitfire at General Aviation FMO Airport near Münster/Germany. Immediately I took 1 of our planes and rolled to the other side of our Airport FMO to see the Spitfire from nearbij. Unfortunately I had no camera to make a lot of photos. A few minutes and a pilot in a typical WWII brown pilot overal with leather hat and a big white moustache. It was like being in a timetunnel to 1940...so real. He was greeting me and my girlfriend stepped into his Spitfire and started the engine. Fire came out of the exhausts...indeed Spitfire...!!! With a last salutation he rolled to the runway 25 and with lots of noise he flew away. 👌😄💪👍😊🇪🇦

I am one of the fortunate few to be a part of this project. Really looking forward to seeing her come back to life and to fly in her. Having this history set out before me, adds to that excitement. Thank you Parky and Charlie Brown for your insight.

Two unassuming stars in vintage aviation…… watching Charlie for decades at displays, Spitfire, Nimrod etc….. reading his excellent reports on these airborne treasures……
Felt privileged to meet Charlie briefly at North Weald a month ago, ferrying Elizabeth in for some more pleasure flying. Popped into Wings Cafe with a friend, for lunch…… rode round to see the progress on the Squadron, to have Charlie zoom overhead, then land.
Unlike many who turn on the charm for cameras, he is the same easy going unassuming gentleman in person.
Living under the Aero Legends pleasure flying flight path, I get treated to a regular Spitfire/Harvard display at weekends…… long may it continue…. and I look forward to the next arrival and one day, a ride 🙂🇬🇧

A’h, hearing Charlie B & Parky chatting away about a new Spitfire to fly in. What could be better on a chilly autumn night? Gosh I’ve missed them over these two Covid seasons and this film just makes me want to get back to Headcorn again. And Charlie, the pince-nez; just so in character!!
I look forward to seeing the addition to the Aero Legends family when the project is completed. 😘

Great to see the little clip of Jackaroo G-AOIR. I flew in her many times in the 70's with my father piloting. Last time I flew in her was 1982 at Woburn. I'm so glad she is still being looked after and airworthy, but she really does need that blue to be changed back to red.

All I can tell you about MJ444 is that my father flew it twice, on December 15th and 29th, 1944, and his logbook notes it's loss on January 16th with Hal Fairfield flying.

What Mark Spit is this converted from? The radiators suggest a Mk9 but another Aero Legends video says she's getting a single stage Merlin. And of course MH434 is a Mk9

Hi all,,,,Canadian here.....just wondering where folks are getting the engines for these restorations? Can RR still make them? or are they finding engines here and there and rebuilding them if the blocks aren't cracked? or is there some other supply source?
Thanks for posting....my Dad was from Hyde and was sent to Canada with the commonwealth training plan which he completed but he was kept in Canada as an instructor and never saw war action..but did fly DC3's all over europe and N Africa as a commercial pilot after the war.
