    RMS would have gone on a big rant if he heard you say that the GPL was an "Open Source" license.

    I'm not exactly rushing to trash windows and install gentoo, but I really do wish more people would listen to what Stallman has to say.

      wisemage0 You should trash windows, but there are much better alternatives to gentoo which aren't nearly as autistic.

    Stallman is crazy. But crazy in a good way. Thanks for the interview

    This guy is hilarious. I can't look at him nodding sagely without bursting out laughing. The eyebrow lifts. Just brilliant.

    Is Richard one of those guys who believe technology is the enemy and they are back in the stone age? If not this man is very intelligent, diligent and I'd respect him because of his reasoning.

    Not at all, he is a programmer and great advocate of technology, his issue is with companies that abuse their users, that is why he created GNU so that people would have an alternative OS that is free from malicious features.

    he has more common sense than most of us

    quote> Quote "[...] the inventor the open source license GPL [...]"
    That's a faux-pas. RMS is not fond of "Open Source". It's about "free software".

    He is using a Windows computer behind him when he goes into his monologue at the end :P

    Guys he said open source license GPL, not OSS.

    Demanding to only ever use free software is very limiting. Stallman is right about privacy and digital rights, but the implications are profound and unlikely to see mass adoption. Most people who use computers today are non-technical personality types who can't be persuaded to want to make this kind of sacrifice.

      There's a reason why he's called an extremist by many prominent figures in the software community

    Also aluminum helps but does not totally prevent RFID from transmitting.

    "If I am the father of the open source movement, then it was concieved without my consent using stolen sperm".
    He is in fact the inventor of the 'copyleft' license concept.

  • @JohnPaul-si5rs
    @JohnPaul-si5rs 11 лет назад +1

    It is free software not open source.

    I like hearing Richard speak. He has beautiful ideas. However the interviewer is annoying. He's talking when he should be listening.

    WTF about people who HAVE to use windows because software such as music and video production simply is not up to the industry standards?

  • @p1oppypnts
    @p1oppypnts 11 лет назад

    No. He's one of those (unfortunately) rare guys who think technologies shouldn't be used in certain ways which he considers to be unethical and, in my opinion, argues his case very well.

    >believe technology is the enemy and they are back in the stone age?
    He's a programmer.
