New subscriber from CT! I've watched 2 of your videos so far and have already become addicted. The footage is amazing and the whole video is relaxing and making me feel like I'm right there. I'm a big fan of surfcasting for blues. I love their speed, aggression, power, and appetite. They get the adrenaline pumping and are so very entertaining. Fall 2022 was an amazing bluefish fall run over here. The action was insane and hadn't seen such crazy feeding and so many bluefish in years. I caught my heaviest bluefish ever, being a 34" 14 pound gator. I had never caught so many 10+ pound gators. I'd be wading in 2 to 3 feet of water and have blues busting right near me and schools swimming around right near me. I've learned that bluefish prefer topwater action that's fast and loud, which is why you were getting slammed with that popper. Can't wait for April when the holdover stripers wake up and get their metabolism going.
Bluefish insanity this year. Had 50 plus fish easily on a couple sessions in NJ so far. Just complete nuts topwater or whatever you throw at them. Awesome to see you using the exact lures I was literally just using on them the other day.
definitely one of the crazier springs I've experienced bluefish wise. probably could have caught them with a fork on this trip, I've seen some pictures of absolute gators coming out of NJ
@@curtisg.8671 I was out in south Jersey three times in the last month and blue fish were scarce.Didn’t see any caught and reports from other fisherman were the same in the area. Was looking forward to getting into some.
great video which model is the rod? they seem to be sold out at most sites, but I'm just curious what power and action, and your thoughts on it. I'm trying to get some kayak rods for the same type fishing and am debating between some mediums/mh and fast/extra fasts.
yea there is a lot of backlog for a lot of outdoor gear which stinks. This is an Okuma SRT Inshore elite. 7 foot medium heavy. Honestly I think this is perfect for my style of fishing. Not too heavy for jigging, but can also handle big bluefish and stripers
Great vid! Keep em coming, I'm sure you'll have plenty of followers in no time. The blues are pretty fun this early in the season, but you might be cursing them out by mid season if it keeps up like this!
Blues attack tail of baitfish and then come back and finish the deal. Bass hit the front of plug to swallow head first. I’ve snagged a pogie, watched a blue hit the back end and as the bloody front part started to sink, have a bass inhale it.
Strange how you're swamped with blue fish. I am still getting mostly short stripers in NJ(Raritan Bay) and only 1 mid-size blue so far. Already started but gonna switch to full time fluke soon. There's lots of top water disturbance and tons of bait fish now but they're not biting, weird.
I can not tell you how much I enjoy watching your videos. I literally laugh out loud. Enjoy your passion, too. Keep up the good work.
appreciate that man! i'll be doing a lot of filming this season so hopefully a lot more vids to come

Went this Sunday to rocks on the far side of Godard park we where pulling in tons of keeper weak fish, great video man!
nice those weakfish have been abundant this season
Great video Johnny! Keep them coming. I’ll be fishing the Sakonnet tomorrow hopefully the blues are there.
I'd be surprised if they aren't
One of the best bluefish video on YT!

The bite is on fire dude! What I'd give for a trip up there right now! Keep it up

For sure, had them from land and kayak. Not a bad thing when they push over 15lbs.

@@wish2fish37 down south was not showing much. Gotta go north for sure. Good luck.
Great content! Be out there this weekend with my kids
Admit it...you love bluefish! Great video!

haha yep, I'm already a little tired of them but it was a fun day. I think they will be everywhere come summer time
@@Fish-RI it's all I caught and saw at the canal yesterday but I feel like the stripers are hiding somewhere in there.
Scrum Popper for the win! Those things are awesome.
Hey dude. Im from Springfield Ma. But i wouldnt mind taking a drive out there to fish with you! Its fun with more kayakers
Lots of blue this year and I’m all for it
they're gonna be all over the place this season
Fun video Jonny.
Are the blues not good to eat? Why would you get tired of catching fish while fishing?
haha, blues are a blast, but I still want to keep targeting bass before it gets too hot. Love top water action!
yea this was really fun but I gotta get away from these things and find some bass
God, how I miss those days.... The days of nonstop blues action.
might happen for you guys this year
Sick video dude you deserve more subs
thanks man! one day we'll get there
Great trip, one for the books. Bluefish are fun unless your targeting something else.. But fun. My PB is 14lbs.
would have been nice to see some bass but this was also very fun
Sweet ! What a blast !

Can you do a catch and cook with some of these fish you catch. Specially blues. If you have a smoker. Try smoking bluefish. Delicious
Jonny what are your thoughts on the carbon ITX reels ?
they are very solid. Lightweight but handled these gators with no issue

It seems like deeper in the bays the blues have just completely taken over in my neck of the woods. Hoping to find more bass soon. Good luck out there
Best bluefish recipe. Take a cedar shingle, season it, put blue on top of it and bake. Take out of oven, throw out fish and eat shingle.
Definitely enjoy a good blue fish vid, but I know you wanna get on the STRIPAHS, bring em on fish gods...🤙🏼🤙🏼..
you know I was missing stripers during this haha
I just went yesterday and big bass and blues were on herring in the upper bay.
Let’s gooooo
You should do a local fish meet up and then we can like fish of the rocks or something
not a bad idea
What rod is this?
Okuma SRT Inshore Elite (link in my description)
Now he does - nice
What kayak is that?
hobie pro angler 14
What state were you fishing?
Big and bad Rhode Island
RI baby
Got a 33” blue. Fattest fish for real. Bloated big
Blues strip line and constant head shake. Bass hit hard make one big run and then dead weight.
I have a boat and from the area. I fished sakonnet most of my life but started fishing the bay more. If you feel like fishing on a boat let me know.
Jonny bluefish finder
can't seem to get away from them
You will be saying “Damn Bluefish,I hate blue fish”pretty soon😡 like in other videos.
haha yep I'm pretty much already there
Lb for lb they are a better fight than Striper imo.
they do put up one hell of a fight
