Read this book and the character of Blue Duck was very smart which made him even more scary.

*For me IMO in my book ... a **_Bruce Dern_** class of actor. Nobody could play "Blue Duck" like Frederic Forrest. Nobody.*

What made this movie even better for me. Was being able to resist the temptation to watch it, before reading the book. It gave me way more background on the main characters and others. Including a more disturbingly detailed account of what all happened to Lori. After she was kidnapped by Blue Duck and held captive. I wish my dad would've lived long enough to see this.

Did a great job as a villain!

What I like about the final scene with him is that even while we already hate him, he brags to Woodrow about all the terrible things he has done which reminds us why we hate him

the great thing as the story unfolds over the four novels is how gus call and blue duck are bonded because they are so alike.l.they are the only ones left like him , they and blue duck have different motives but the same mentality.in the world they grew up in they see themselves as the last free men.when gus and call started there were no outlaws.simply because there were no laws to be outside of.most of the country they travelled wasnt even a proper nation just wilderness .they therefore imposed their own laws and code of behaviour.they hate the encroachment of civilisation.its why they go on the drive to find the last untamed wilderness .blue duck though evil thinks the same .his irony is he was cast out from the last free people by his father buffalo hump.yet eventually in lonesome dove they are tamed and on the reservation.blue duck is the last free comanche.contemptuos of everyone else doing exactly as he likes.hes not worried by sheriffs posses the army or other tribes.the only two who worry him are gus and call/they are too similar to him.unafraid of anything and can chase him down.so he never gives them the excuse he runs before guses attack.the three are different sides of the same coin.
