    This chat is so refreshing.
The rugby world would respect the Haka more if the NZ media stop forcing it down people's throats. The entitlement to "respect" the Haka is nauseating. It is a war cry for goodness sake therefore the opposition have a right to challenge it or push back against. War is war and NZ should focus their energy on the pitch and forget about how people respond to their precious Haka.

Even more so when we see the controvesary going on between Pakeha and Maori over the treaty in NZ yet we are told to respect the culture by Pakeha when they are under question about respecting the Maori people's rights right now. Its very odd to be honest.
For the record I love the Haka but we don't need people from NZ having a go at us as to how we "react". Its a privilege to be allowed to do it outside of NZ not a right. If someone eats a hotdog during a haka in Paris for example let's say that is their choice and I also don't have a right to tell them from stop eating their hot dog and pay attention.

Agree Haka at home, as I assume it gets your home supporters into the game. Actually probably makes attractive to foreigners to watch a game in NZ, so hey good for tourism. Outside NZ I think you will get more and more rejection as time goes by. I personally don’t mind but I know I am a minority on this.

I don't think that other countries laugh at the Haka. There was a time many years ago, when games between northern hemisphere teams and the ABs were rare, that the Haka had mythical status. Unfortunately, the Haka has become hackneyed through overexposure, and for other countries fans it has just become boring. This is also partly due to how it has ballooned in verbosity and theatrics compared to how it was done years ago.
It was a useful intimidation weapon for decades of NZ teams, but a lot of that effect has been lost in the professional era. If NZ want to do it to psyche themselves up before a match abroad then there's nothing to stop them doing so off-stage, as they did against Wales some years back.

Yeah it's more problem of overexposure by media than haka itself. It becoming a brand doesn't help. Commercialization ruins everything

The Haka should not be allowed. Why should generally offensive gestures of threatening and killing together with sticking out of the tongue be acceptable or invited by any other culture? That's a Maori thing-all good. I respect that culture
But let it remain a Maori thing. What right do NZ have to force it on other nations. What right do the AB's have to insist that it be "respected" while it's a "competitive advantage" to only one team? The AB's themselves refer to it as an advantage-why should pre-game rituals be tolerated if there's an advantage to only one team? And, if it's not an advantage, see how the AB's go without it. It's not meant for entertainment either, so why frame it as if it is? Players today just accept that these unfair customs are what they are. They should not accept it.

What i dislike to be honest. Is when a Haka is done with passion. Ferocity. Then the team doesnt perform with passion and Ferocity. I feel you dont deserve to do it in that case.

I like the Haka. Its a cool spectacle. I also like the way teams respond. Like planes and shit. But its a bit of a downer when the Haka is so epic then the ABs play like crap.

I was critisising the haka before it was trendy lol but it's pathetic the amount of hostility and hive mind out there about it, rising at once.
It also says more about quality of fans going downhill, turning into raging toddlers. Wahh we wanna respond waah where are our rights. Waah why should we watch it😭

Every pacific island has a pre game Haka. Fiji, Samoa, Tonga etc It should be respected. Yes respond if you like, but it is tradition and tradition deserves respect. I personally do not like the national anthems, but it's part of it. Deal with it, be respectful and move on.
