So far I’m on the hunt for one humb or one and a single coil...thin neck...I’m loving roasted maple...can Ltd sway my vote...that purple beast and these are pretty sick
It seems like there’s really great separation with this pickup. Everything is represented equally leading to great clarity with chords. I just want something with a Floyd mainly for recording leads and doing some rush covers lol. This guitar might be it TBH the price is right and I love the single humbucker look.
So my question is, Do you like that pick up set up better than say the dual EMG set up on the Hammett LTD models? I'm torn between that single Duncan v Dual EMGs
Haven’t tried the Het Set. In general these sound and act drastically different than any EMGs I’ve tried. They feel extremely aggressive and untamed, whereas EMG 81 especially feels very powerful but polite/tamed.
Very, very different pickups. The BW is so tight and focused that it almost doesn’t sound distorted no matter how much gain is on it. The attack is very cold and immediate. No sag. Super distortion can get way too wet very easily, and its attack is slow for a ceramic magnet pup.
i got the guitar yesterday with a minor blemish for a great price,, i cant find the blemish, adjusted the action and FUCKYEAH!! this is an awsome guitar for the money!! i also took a hair dryer and heated up the badge ,popped it off with a 88mil guitar pick, 2 tiny hole where the badge sticks in the head, no worries, going to fill it with some wood dough and throw on an esp sticker! LOL... i hot the the hipshot version ,its a sweet deal for the money!
Richard Martinez oh hell yes. That’s what I’m thinking about doing so it’ll be better for more diverse styles. The Black Winter is perfect for what it was designed for, which is low open string riffing.
@@joshoptical Ok, glad it's not just me lol. I love the black winter pickup. I bought this guitar with the intention of swapping it for a Custom Shop Seymour Duncan JB. The black winter really did surprise me so I've left it stock for a while but I'm about ready pull stand try something new.
@@joshoptical I have a question for you about this guitar. I'm gonna go through with swapping the black winter for a JB. Am I going to have to special order a JB due to the way the black winter is mounted to the body/pickup cavity?
GUITARSRUINLIVES From now on you must refer to guitars as... salad. Like, “look at this salad”, “look at that salad” or “man, this is a really good salad, the fret job on this salad is amazing!”

These are hard to beat
Best guitar review! Cheers

You bet! Thanks for watching and commenting

It’s an awesome and unusual guitar. Just gotta get used to no fretboard inlays. You’re right about the tone.
Just bought one, awesome. I love Alder body guitars, every other single guitar I have is Mahogany except my MIJ early 90’s Jackson Rhoads EX PRO
I ended up getting a used E II FRX in excellent shape for the cost of this guitar. Still would love to get this guitar though.
@@JayBruceWorld Nice I really want the E II Baritone Viper
Nice black metal shred😈 i want the 7 string version with hipshot bridge!!
Barry Gomez who wouldn’t!

I get mine in the mail next week, first thing I’ll restring the guitar with 10-42s and I will block that tremolo and play all day.
How you like it?
Great review man! One question though. How good is the floyd on the guitar? Does the guitar stay in tune when you use it?
its a 1000 floyd.its great.
It’s perfect. Nothing wrong with 1000s. If the guitar is made right they’ll work perfectly.
@@juventinos81 Nice!
@@joshoptical Oh okay great! I plan on getting me the arrow version.
Nice vid man! How does the black winter compares to your super distortion?
Very, very different pickups. The BW is so tight and focused that it almost doesn’t sound distorted no matter how much gain is on it. The attack is very cold and immediate. No sag. Super distortion can get way too wet very easily, and its attack is slow for a ceramic magnet pup.
@@joshoptical All right thx for all the details man! Cheers!
COMPARED to my 86 charvel and jackson its light weight!! i love it
I’m sure there is a lot of variation, mine was super heavy! Glad you love it
That’s the hottest ESP I ever saw & one of the hottest guitars ever.
It’s very good.
3 minutes in u thought your rug moved... turns out it was your dog
Harry Neuer yep Sammie every time
"That's a berry niceee" dude that killed me hahaha
Itsa beddddy niyece, uh!
Is that active or passive pickups?
Seymour Duncan Black Winter is passive. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for this video.😊
how long do the dots glow?
Probably not long enough to be that useful onstage but I can’t say

That is awesome! Yes that badge was cheesy as all hell! Glad you found a way to get rid of it

Can you give some Type O Negative riffs?
Gotta learn some! This guitar is long by one but I’ll put that band in my list. Thanks!
@@joshoptical Thanks try Christan Woman.
That opeth riff
Sarcophagus_666 yeah man
Great, you played the nastiest riff, now play Blurry
Say more?
@@joshoptical the guitar sounds insane on a dirty tone, but you never showed a clean tone to see how well it shines
well thats awsome, why even use that on a METAL guitar... very strange .. cool vids bro!!
Thanks for watching!
pull up on volume knob, its split, no use for THE BLACKEST OF METALS..lol
Mine did not coil split
It is a salad... of guitar parts.
