Thank you for your good intentions and all efforts you do to help music lovers and also spreading out the valuable heritage of Turkish music.
I wonder if you can make a video on how to develop a single motive, is there a certain rules or you need to memories specific sentences according to makam. What are the rules or key points you need to follow in order to be able to improvizə in Turkish music or makames?
    With heartfull respect and appreciation.❤❤❤

You're welcome! I will explain every makam under this series. You can get more information about makam music for sure if you can follow the series. But to practice on your own you can listen to recordings of the masters (Cemil bey, Yorgo Bacanos, Udi Hrant, Ihsan Ozgen, Aka Gunduz, Necdet Yasar etc.) as well as mine and analyse those. Moreover you can analyze the masterpiece compositions by Zekai Dede, Dede efendi, Itri, Sadullah aga, etc. Basically more to listen more to learn. and of course keep practicing and try to make a taksim or composition.

Thank you Baha! This is very informative. I am a lavta player so it’s really great to see it featured here, you should play more lavta videos or make a series with repertoire, that would be amazing! ❤ Thanks again for your time and open sharing

Thanks for your kind comment. I will first explain the basic makams to help you to recognize each well. Then I will give you the combination of each then you will start playing the terkips easily.

Baha, thank you for making this excellent series of videos. There are almost no good English language video resources dedicated to teaching Turkish makam, especially for beginners. This is invaluable! Even for folks like me who are familiar with the very basics of makam already but still lack a sophisticated understanding, these are a wonderful resource. I also think making a lot of this material available to everyone for free like this is the best way to attract more students, subscribers, supporters, and members who would be willing to pay for more in depth content or one-on-one instruction -- it might seem counterintuitive that making more content available for free will encourage folks to pay, but i think offering enough content to let people really start to understand and pick up the basics will be enough to get them hooked! Plus, you are enriching the world and sharing a beautiful tradition that is beloved by many peoples. Music is special and magical-- it transcends the artificial divisions of language and politics and nation states, and can unite and humanize people in a way that we need now more than ever. Much love.

You're welcome Nico! Yeah I know the missing part and good to hear from my fellow subscribers like you. Thank you so much for your kind comment, I'm honoured. Honestly I aim to attract more people to present this beautiful culture and tradition. Of course, after reaching a certain number of subscribers or followers there would be some to learn more deeply as well as members or private students. Music is an endless hole. Even we know that we don't have enough lifetime to go the end we are enjoying the discover new sides/pieces in the hole. It always makes us motivated :)

Also I don’t want you to make you work harder in the editing, but when you’re saying terms like “seyir” it would be nice to display it in the frame and may even write below an online definition! That’s all I’m out 😅
