One of my favorite episodes, perhaps because it is an excellent example of what classical theorists conceived as the moral purpose of comedy: to expose the faults of ordinary people in a lighthearted way, and create a path of dramatic action that leads to their growing understanding (and the audience's) that they have made a mistake -- a realization that ultimately leads to their rejection of behavior that's out of sync with the interests of the larger community. Essentially, it's a sermon on civic responsibility with plenty of jokes and horseplay, and Don Quinn's WWII scripts are a masterful take on this approach to comedy..
One of my parents favorite radio shows . They came from very different backgrounds, different parts of the country. But the humor is universal and timeless
The show made a lot of Americans forget their troubles and misery of war by laughing at certain aspects facing the public. Some great writing and performances!
Wow - aired the day before I was born! My mother always mentioned the smell of gasoline in the car because my father had stockpiled four gallons of gas in the back street.l
now THIS is the irony: here we are exactly 80 years later, in exactly the SAME situation with exactly the same bitchen' ppl and fibber is doing exactly the best comedy as he did exactly 80 years prior. 🌟 m. Illinois.
My 88 year old client hasn't smiled this much in a long while! Thank you so much!!

Fibber and Molly really did help win the war.✌️😉
Gale Gordon was the actor who played the cantankerous Osgood Conklin on Our Miss Brooks. He was good friends with Lucille Ball.
Lucy and Gale were first heard on radio in 1938

Hmmm, so so the WWII home front had their Karens too...
No, male Karens are Kevins.. But, they were lucky in one way not to have someone holding a cell phone & taping their outbursts.
@@catherineerwin8269 Not everyone calls them Kevins, and I don't see any reason to. Imo a Karen's a Karen.
@@dontaylor7315and a Kevin's a Kevin 😅
@@bballnoah1446 A Kevin is Karen trying to look like an alpha male.
