  • As a simple, quick, and non-destructive test, Bubble Point Testing has gained favor as the go-to best practice by many manufacturers to rate the pore size of their membrane filters. The whitepaper explains the simple principle behind this test and how it allows user to easily determine pore sizes, considering some of its limitations. Sterlitech Bubble Point Testing whitepaper aims to help users standardized their membrane testing for consistency and reliability.
    Sterlitech Membrane Disc Filters
Sterlitech offers a comprehensive selection of polymeric and inorganic membrane filter materials, enabling users to perform everything from solvent filtration to gas venting.
Our pre-cut membrane disc filters are produced using the highest quality manufacturing standards. These filters are designed to increase efficiency, reduce cost, and expand the capabilities of microfiltration applications.
Membrane disc filter accessories are available for added convenience. Additionally, we offer a wide variety of pressure filter holders and vacuum filter holders to suit most applications
    Available membrane disc filters:
    * Silver Membranes - Inorganic, chemical and temperature resistant
    * Aluminum Oxide Membranes - Inorganic, transparent when wet
    * Cellulose Acetate Membranes - Low protein binding, high throughput, low extractables
    * Ceramic Membranes - Inorganic, chemical and temperature resistant
    * Glass Fiber Filters - High flow rate, high purity, high operating temperatures
    * MCE Membranes - High protein binding, high flow rate
    * Nylon Membranes - Superior strength, high protein binding, chemically compatible
    * PAN (Polyacrylonitrile) Membranes - Fast flow at low pressures, 6-log bacterial load reduction
    * PCTE (Polycarbonate) Membranes - Translucent, flat/smooth surface, low non-specific binding. Also available in black, gold, gray and PVP-Free.
    * PES (Polyethersulfone) Membranes - Low protein binding, durable, uniform results, high throughput, fast flow rate
    * PETE (Polyester) Membranes - Hydrophilic/Hydrophobic, track-etched pores, flat/smooth surface, solvent resistant, Gold Coated
    * PE (Polyethylene) Membranes - Highly hydrophobic, excellent chemical resistance, compatible with gamma irradiation sterilization
    * Polypropylene Nominal Prefilters - Composed of polypropylene fibers with nominal pore size rating
    * PTFE Membranes - Chemical and pH resistance, laminated or unlaminated
    * PVDF Hydrophilic Membranes - Hydrophilic, low extractable/protein binding
    ==================
Verify that the air control valve is turned OFF.
    Adjust regulator till 0 pressure.
    Attach the compressed air line.
Verify that the pressure gauge is reading zero and turn the air control valve to ON.
Wet out the membrane filter by carefully floating it on the water surface in the tray.
Add purified water to the holder until level reaches the top of o-ring.
Carefully place the disc filter in the holder opening so that no air is trapped beneath the filter.
Carefully place the disc filter in the holder opening.
    Position and tighten the clamp.
Turn the pressure regulator knob clockwise until the gauge reads ~50% of minimum BP specification.
Allow the system to stabilize for about 15 seconds.
Use your finger to tap/sweep away any clinging bubbles from the reservoir.
Slowly turn the regulator knob clockwise to increase air pressure, about ¼ turn per second.
Carefully watch reservoir bottom for bubbles to appear.
The pressure at which the bubbles are observed, is that membrane’s bubble point.
Turn the regulator knob briskly counter clockwise, until the pressure gauge reads 0.
Invert holder over waste beaker counter clockwise.
    Loosen and remove clamp.
Remove holder top & disc filter.
