    My wife is Thai but does not look Thai. Oh the taxi drivers face when she gets in and starts speaking fluent Thai, and they know the meter is going to have to go on is priceless.

    I've been living in South East Asia for 7 years and here's my advice to you. If they come to you with their service...it's a scam. if you have to go to them for their service and they have an app/website, your good to go :) Best of luck!!

    You should of mentioned if you’re going to withdraw cash from the ATM, always click NO when it ask’s if you want to do the conversion for you. It sometimes charges $30 for that, it’s a scam!

      I avoid using ATMs in Thailand altogether because of the various ridiculous hidden fees. Most Thai banks charge a fee for ATM usage outside their local areas. I bring cash and do the exchanges at SuperRich. I also use my credit cards (Capital One Venture & AMEX) with zero international transaction fees for most transactions. Another convenient cashless option is to use the TrueMoney wallet app for payment, which is used at every 7/11 across Thailand.

      @parttimephilosopher7097 2 месяца назад +3

      Yes...if someone is going to make a video like this, it should be accurate & complete. The fees are 220 Baht, not 200 Baht, and choosing yes on the conversion costs 5%. Also, anyone wanting to exchange cash is probably best to wait to get to a Super Rich kiosk.

    • @CaptainKremmen
      @CaptainKremmen 2 месяца назад +1

      The fee makes ATMs terrible regardless. Just take cash and use a good exchange place, such as the ones near the station. Rates on large USD notes are always best, so carry US 100s if you can.

      Use a bank ATM if you can so if your card is swallowed by the machine you can go in the branch and talk to someone, if the ATM at the airport eats your card you're stuffed!

    My phone doesn't have eSIM ability. If it did, Hola costs 27EUR (1069 baht) for 7 days. That's 4 times the price of even a tourist SIM. I think my Thai SIM card was about 40 baht. AIS currently charges 25 baht for 800MB for 7 days. (And they often have even better promos for more data if you care.) So, yeah, if you want to be utterly ripped off paying over 16 *times* as much, go for an eSIM. Otherwise, just buy a standard SIM card.

    another way to do express through immigration is to tell them you need assistance and they wheel you through in I wheel chair right up to the plane door and when arriving , from the plane door to your taxi and its FREE , I USE IT ALL THE TIME . also if your 70 + you can go through express free

    I've never had a taxi from the airport that didn't use the meter. There's staff on hand by the queue ticket machines. There's a 50 baht charge, but worth it because there's a record of the taxi picking you up. If you ever forgot your luggage, they'd be able to trace the taxi.
    If you arrive daytime without much luggage, there's the Airport Link as well.

    Nice heads up on the transportation from the airport. The airport rail line is the way to go. Been to Bangkok 3 times twice taking a taxi with the first experience being an adventure getting lost and horrible traffic. Last visit was a taxi ride but easier location near Central World and the Erawan site. Nice to see they added food places to the lower level.

    I flew economy to/from India in May and, being over 70 I qualified for immigration fast track, both out and back. Very useful at arrivals as it saved needing to join a lengthy queue which, when added to only having carry on baggage, meant a fast exit.

    Pro, pro tip, all of those exchange places you mentioned actually have quite bad rates, first floor, second floor, any of them near the arrival/departure lounges, you can see the buy/sell spread is like 10% on the clip you took in this video (this means you lose 5% on the real exchange rate, whether you buy or sell). If you just go for a short walk right near the airport rail link station there is three exchange booths there (superich, kasikorn and one other I forget), and all three of them have very very good rates, basically equivalent to the best rates you'll get anywhere in Thailand, they have buy/sell spread of only like 1% (so you lose just 0.5% on the real rate). I read this tip online somewhere and couldn't believe, but check for yourself it is legit. I think that area over near the airport rail link is outside the main airport zone and can use the real rate you would expect, but inside the terminals I'm guessing the rates are horrible because the airport itself is charging a fee on top of the exchange companies.

    • @artist_with_dharma137
      @artist_with_dharma137 2 месяца назад

      Yeah my ex-wife would walk to the kasikorn place outside the airport doors and was horrified by me wasting big money exchanging downstairs
      To be quite matter of fact, I've just travelled 22.5 hours straight and I'm totally pooped from the second half of that experience from Dubai to Thailand
      All I want to do is get in an air conditioned VIP transfer wagon and slowly adjust to the wall of BKK heat. So for saving all those big monies, I've now got to prepare for that sudden heat blast that punches the last reserve of energy I have left by gunning down double shots of Thai red bull
      I'm just really short fused with ADHD and autism on a good day, and your suggestion is most valuable and will be greatly appreciated by so many people arriving in Thailand and need to exchange money for the full trip etc
      I don't have that big thing about money some people do have about saving pennies to make pounds, what's going to be saved I just see it as more money I then have to spend! 😊
      And she doesn't see things how I do, in the grand scheme of things and the bigger picture in the long term means there's no point in the effort we're making to save them big monies on the 4% gain from native exchange rate.
      I explained that saving get's totally destroyed when coming home
      . I needed to exchange THB to AED before leaving BKK because doing it in Dubai is shockingly big losses and they don't accept below 1000 THB notes to AED and you can't even buy a piss pass without the Dubai Dirhams when going homeward bound and then I discovered that everything I bought in Thailand duty free was confiscated because it should have been checked luggage locked in suitcase
      Now I'm having to go through customs again due to the distance between landing and departure in Dubai all baggage gets security checked and scanned again with new security seals again.
      FFS so that's more losses
      Then what I didn't spend in Dubai duty free Dirhams I have to change to GBP because when back in UK the rates of losses are phenomenal and again, British bureau de change won't change anything less than equivalent of £35 Dirham notes so take the loss in Dubai even though some UK banks (obviously heavily invested in Dubai) accept lower AED denomination yet charge added processing fees on top for the privilege of the Dirhams exchange theft.. oops i mean RATES
      (Pain in the arse that Dubai Dirhams NOT Arab Dollar cause just because you're passing through the world's largest international exchange airport and Dubai's economy doesn't gain anything from it unless staying overnight and then you need to get dollars for outside the airport and Dirhams for in. And if you were to stay overnight then the exchange works highly in your favour (not with a suitcase of alcohol should your hotel room happen to be randomly checked by the "local happened to be passing" fatwa enforcers aka Magicians Bribery Agency)
      The bigger picture of course strikes again to be another lose lose situation again
      and
      I'm fully explaining how I came to really object to the wonderful kasikorn exchange booth only due to my personal experience and mindset.
      How I then thought I'd better establish how much I don't mean offence about your suggestion to future Thailand tourists
      Especially with me being on high alert adrenaline pumping for 22 hours straight is comparable to doing a downhill MTB run for 22 hours and even with 2ltrs gentleman jack's and the usual amount of insomniac sleepless nights prior to travelling. I'm a little bit of a challenge for my short temper on a good day with 5 sleepless nights and trying to get a supermarket shop done and then the effort trekking to the booth..
      Ps: all the above was all back in 2018-2019 so I hope it's better nowadays
      But, I can say by the fourth time of landing at BKK she had seen the visual evidence of the BIGGER losses with NO lower rate options available last homebound journey so I got straight to the air conditioned VIP car and as usual in the hotel id get 3-5 words out of my mouth and boom fast asleep for 5 hours straight as she waited patiently for me to wake up yet again 😅
      Wish I could be a little bit more succinct when replying to comments on RUclips
      That's another thing with ADHD and the autism bonus
      Have a great weekend wherever you are in the world 😊

      SuperRich on the 1st is legit. Just pull out a $100 so you have baht. Also, don’t exchange all your money the same day depending on how the market is as it can go up or down a decent amount in the spread of a week. On $1,000 can potentially get you an extra 500-1,000 THB if rates change in your favor. I usually do just $200-$300 at a time unless it’s close to 37/1 and then cash out

      Keis covers all the bases when it comes to being a top level creator on RUclips.who gets my vote and keeps me coming back. Personally, I like humour and going off the beaten track to show the viewers many beautiful parts of Thailand, that would never get to be seen, by new or seasoned tourists in Thailand. Places like the Railtrack community who've built home right next to the railway, the cool woman he sometimes sees, and he goes to chill with for the evening,, eat some awesome food, drinks a few beers and has a laugh there, even without knowing heaps of Thai language!! That's the kind of REAL REAL THAILAND that I love to go discover.
      Even, my wife who's from far north of Thailand could never show me the places keis finds.
      ( Btw, for Anyone who gets a chance to go up to Northern Thailand, visit Chiang Rai and find Doi Mae Salongnai village and visit the market place. It is small, but it's REAL THAILAND, it's local culture and a little bit different to what you might be used to seeing back home, if you don't show fear, I guarantee you will be welcomed by open arms and a few shots of white whiskey. Hardly anyone speaks English but Google translate got me by for three months at a time,)
      Anyway, back to keis and the flipping awesome content he creates and what solid advice he is giving to have the greatest experience in Thailand safely and with fun.
      Keis has nailed it for me because most importantly he is himself, you don't have to be hilarious to be a successful RUclips channel, you don't have to be way to serious. Just being the real YOU that your friends usually see. And the second most important thing for me is to know what you're talking about, I don't want to be watching what you found on Google, I want to see what excites your senses and you wanted to share that passion.
      the story of what it's taken keis to get where he is today is admirable and further gets my vote for worthy creator of the year.
      Though, I have to stress, he isn't too far from Hollywood when it comes to special EFX, they don't know jackpoop about EFX until they have seen keis change clothes, or even whole days, by clicking his fingers or clapping his hands. MAGICAL ✨
      Now, eat that Hollywood!!

    Defo use the buggy service with fast track. We got out of BKK in under 15 minutes from the time the aircraft door opened and were in the condo under an hour later. We pay roughly $150 (for 2) and that includes buggy, very discrete VIP immigration channel, Alphard van to the condo. After 20+ hrs travel time its peanuts. You can cut about $50 off the price if you take a regular car.

    • @rolandet

      So its $50 pp? (Aussie or US?)

    • @auwz66
      @auwz66 2 месяца назад

      @@rolandet USD. But prices are currently, 3300Tbh for the golf cart and fast track per person and 1000Thb for a car to Asok, 3000Tbh for a van for the entire vehicle. If you do book make 100% sure you get the golf cart and the fast track together as otherwise you may have to go to a different gate to meet the rep. The airport authorities have put a stop to the reps all waiting at the end of the air bridge. But if you have a buggy they are allowed to wait. If that makes sense..

I prefer to take the link, but then again... taxi scams are far more frequent in Manila than in Bangkok.

    That sponsor ain't it Keis. You know damn well they are taking advantage of people not being in Thailand yet. You'd be one of the first people to call out scams like hola and yet, here you're taking a sponsorship from them. Hope you think more about sponsors in the future, it cripples your credibility.
