Finally a reactor who's able to contextualize this episode's events properly 👍 Yes Gon is reckless and act on emotions, he definitely needed that speech from Tsezguerra, but he's a child who grew up free without his dad to teach him restrain among other things... the contrast with Killua is huge : bc he was strictly taught by his dad grandpa and brother he's actually acting older than his actual age but he's still reckless/daring in his own way so the child is still there, he's just better at controlling himself by minding the situations and his surroundings Tsezguerra gave that speech to Gon bc he actually thinks he's a good kid who will listen, and yes Gon always listens to adults and sincerely apologizes when someone points out his behavior and I think it's good enough for a kid... like Im said he can't just change overnight, even though it's better that he's being taught now, children are the most moldable after all The only thing that needs explanation to help for a better understanding is at 3:15 that line : Razor uses the word "kaibutsu" so he's only talking about Gon's raw potential for power, not his character....actually even without my explanation, in the context since he's saying "Ging you should be proud" it's easy to understand that he wouldn't say that if he was thinking about Gon being a 'bad', potentially evil or twisted human being...same meaning with Wing I think the translation used the word "beast" which is less ambiguous I guess (eng is not my mother tongue so I'm not 100% sure how eng speakers understand it but yeah) Love the parallels btw Ging and Gon : people like that are not the majority but are certainly needed, even IRL... the ability to see beyond one's actions and past and the will to believe in them is rare
People often downplay this arc. But to me to dodgeball game and what's come next is such a character highlight that really puts Gon up there as one of my favorites of all time
29:11 regarding how many stars Ging has, now that you saw episode 1 of 1999 , go to read chapter 38 of the manga titled “Ging Freecs”. The 2011 anime reworked the Satotz and Gon conversation. This gives missing context about Ging and Kite.
Interesting things to think about : 1. when Ging said to Razor "my son will come one day give him a beating" "don't be cocky he's my son" Gon was 2-3 y old! WTH?!!🤯 Ging's level of prescience is insane! He always knows things and we don't know how, still a mysterious character even with manga knowledge 2. Bisky said she didn't reach Killua's level of nen/Ryu control until she was in her late twenties but she was around Kurapika's age when she started learning nen right? she said she has 40 y of experience and she's 57(?) if I remember correctly and Killua had all that training almost since birth so it's a bit unfair to compare their skills but also now that I think about it I'm really curious about Bisky's younger days, how she became Netero's student then a master...I wonder if it's like Zushi who is really young, if the masters in the Shingen-ryu school of martial arts are searching for gifted students and how they end up where they are now...btw I would love a story about Zushi ^^I'm sure he's gonna be super strong my little kiwi 🥝🤏🏻
0:41 We ca now definitely see the "kindred spirits" thing Hisoka was taking about in like ep 5, where you'd go like "what? they're nothing alike". (grin)
There's always o much discussion on good vs bad, even here, on how Ging saw the good in Razor, and shit like that .....when in fact, what people miss out on because it's so unconnectable for most, Ging lives beyond the paradigm of good vs bad. And that's something also passed down to Gon (somehow.... he's still trying to navigate that, as he has a sense of righteousness about certain things). There is no "redeemable" or "second chance" in that 'space'. Life just functions completely different.
4:44 "He desired total victory. Right, Gon?" ....the fatherly figure Hisoka. ;)) Loved his final move, obviously, but also that phrase right there was just something else.

In 2011 many Kite moments are cut out in Ch 1, Ch 38, Ch 64, Ch 185. Gon and Kite immediately recognize each other in ep 76/Ch 185.

Did you guys know this is the only episode where they actually said bungee gum has the properties of both rubber and gum
thought hisoka said it in heavens arena arc? or was it worded differenty?
@@leonard8452he didn’t. It was explained by narrator in manga but worded differently. But I believe he said it again in the last arc of anime
Yes. In the SPOILER WARNING!! SPOILER WARNING!!
fight against Gotoh. @@knightcommander5694
Does he not say it in his later fight against the butler? I could have sworn I remember him saying it then
@@SpeedyCat19he does but he doesn’t say bungee gum, he says “my nen”

Just checked, he finally checked out hxh 1999 ep 1
When? You mean on Patreon?

Lets gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon
Ch 185 is important just as important for Kite. 2011 messes up their reunion as well.
can u explain to me why it is important to watch that? I have only ever seen the newer version of the series.
Hisoka being nice was hilarious and so out of character. 😂❤
me at 31:35 "but what are the properties of bungee gum exactly?".... its like he can hear me
Hisoka was exited about having the boys in those positions in front of him 😂
5:55 Wholesome moment with the boys and Hisoka .....who would have imagined that at the beginning of this anime? Lovely.
Just finished the anime and it's phenomenal all the way through. Loving the uploads and I can't wait for your reactions to the rest.
The best sports anime

I've been looking forward for this!
This arc is pretty good in my opinion but it doesnt hold a candle to the next one, i absolutely cant wait for you to get to it
Great anime

Did people over on Patreon judged on your Hisoka love, that you barely mentioned him in this ep? ;)))

Im-san. I wonder why we didnt saw your AOT's finally reaction yet. Did you got spoiled?
he's rewatching at the moment
@@vespers.f oh I see. Thank you.

Please can you read chapter 185-186 after watching ep 76? You can watch it in your discussion please it's important as ep 1 of 1999 ❤️❤️
27:19 Please tell me you're not saying that the role of a father figure is to teach their son to "keep their emotions in check". 🤨
