aggred, I'm starting again...for some reason I actually got in a game where our entire team is friendly and we won flawlessly(in terms of power against opponents). I played as semi support, then one guy played as full support and I remember blaming our own simple mistakes for each fail attempt to kill and stuff lol really fun
As someone extremely new to dota (started 3 days ago, only 8 online games), this is really useful. Very well explained and great how you justified each point rather than just saying "Do this, do that". Subscribed and liked :) Thanks a lot
Im relative new to DotA, i started playing this year around february and by that i can say this video is really helpful, already do 4 of 5 things listed but ill pass this tips to the older players bcause they say "your noob, u just dnt know" and this video proves me right!!
Actually that SHIFT tip was really helpful. I did use it for moving, but never for spells. I especially like it after tping or on Bane, that HP steal right after the ulty. Cause I was for example clicking. So, if your victim is far away, at the end of range, you either have to use that spell slightly before the end of ur ulty, or risk of hero runing away from ur range, which happened to me at least once. Nice tips! Subscribed!
Another bonus tip I'm gonna bring up here. If you know some of the spell's (especially spells that allows you to escape) manacost, it's gonna be useful. Bounty Hunter's Wind Walk - 50 Bone Fletcher's Wind Walk - 75 Lothar's Edge - 75 QoP and AM's Blink - 60 Blink Dagger - 75 Teleport Scroll - 75 I have no idea about Waveform, Time Walk, etc but it's good to know. This allows you to know whether are you able to kill an escaping hero with these skills or items.
I really like most of it! I really tried time awareness, its really .. challenging. I only time for stack and runes. The skill timer is gonna blow up my mind!
Heroes that should definitely make use of SHIFT+BLINK 1.Sand King(ult+shift+blink+let go) 2.Enigma(ult+shift+blink+let go) (to escape from enemies when blink is disabled constantly, does not work on magicdps such as Ionshell/Rot/Radiance or any other magical dps casted on you) 3.Shadow Fiend (tp+shift+bkb+blink+ult+let go) 4.Rhasta(shackle+shift+hex+let go) OR (shackle+shift+Ult[ward trap]+hex+let go) (This allows you to disable the enemy for the maximum duration without overlapping disables)
Well, How would I start, when I started watching your videos there were really boring, but afterwards when I started to realize what are u talking about everything changed. I saw milions of DotA movies but none of them gave me such a big Experience as your replays did. So I´d like to say that I have learned "significant amount of skills" - love that phrase(significant amount of damage). I ll be very greatfull if u will continue doing stuff that your are best in it. Just a big Thank to you. :)
items usually provide auras and orb effects that are only needed once. Let's say you have tiny and bounty hunter on your team and the item they both want is a cuirass, only getting one is enough since the buff is given to everyone on your team. Also getting different orb effects from different items is better than stacking the same orb effects from the same item on every hero. Let's say someone already has a sange, it would be better to get a desolator or skadi instead of getting a sange too.
@CelyMovies I find myself watching VoDs, commentaries and other videos like this more than I play as well. I've played since RoC DotA (8 years ago) and I have never given this game up. I've been on and off, but never forgotten about it or stopped playing it. Reason being, the game is amazing, on SO many levels. If you are a true gamer and competitive gamer, DotA is your game. I hope DotA 2 does big things, so I can show my skill and experience in this genre and game of DotA. Good comment, agree.
@FellTheSky AM takes 0.3 seconds to cast blink while Rhasta takes 0.4 seconds to cast Voodoo. in that 0.1 second period of time, AM can easily blink away.
@cosminsparks Yeah I agree~ lumi's tips are to improve a player, and not to help players win games. If we wanna win games, naturally, all our team members have to be lumi's subscribers(which is super rare) or all our opponents are not lumi's subscribers. Dota's a team game after all~ :D
I heard people say that by soloing mid you can improve your dota skill, can you give some tips or teach us how we can get better by soloing mid. Nice video, learnt so much, especially on the time awareness.
@dickurlove My tips for playing solo mid: 1st. Look at what hero the enemy team will send mid...if that hero counters you, just dont go mid. 2nd. Buy items to counter the enemy mid hero like against akasha, it would be smart to get a couple of salves and mainly focus on getting hp. Becouse most akashas harras ALOT. 3rd. You need to last hit really good to go mid, getting alot of denys will help you over level you opponent. 4th. Dont just type ss, also ping and type in caps, so your team notices.
guys who played this game for 6 years knows about this tips. dota 2 has become very easy compared to the first dota. i still recall playing dota when it came out it was hard. we had to buy our own courier. cause it wasnt shared. and using bottle really suck cause you have to click it on the fountain. if you have been playing this game for 6 years then you should have an easy time playing dota2.. cause dota 1 is a hell of alot harder..
well to be fair people made certain rules for tournaments/competitive(gambling in cm mode) like only one bottle, one courier which now is done regularly but back then it was really stupid.
I play since 3 months and i met people that play for over 5 years and are still at my MMR. they dont even play better than me. (then again, i played 160 hours in 2 weeks) :D
What he said was " you can still improve your game even if you have played for 6-7 years," hes not talking about the tips hes just saying u can always improve and learn
2 examples, I have been playing dota for about a year, my cousin that's 20 started playing the game since a child when we checked I had played 1,000 while he has played 1,600 I played 12 months he played dota 2 from the day it was out. And I am better. Well kinda at meepo invoker earthspirit example 2. I also have been playing bo2 for like 2 years on PC I have gold sniper but that does not matter since I am shit I am lvl 55 prestige 3 that does not mean I am good if I was I would have gotten gold sniper WAY faster.
i have watched a lot of dota2 videos because i want to learn to play dota not just lol. but i in these videos they usually talk about not taking an item that somebody else might need. so what is it exactly some items are only one available for each team or do those items have a long cooldown to buy again?
Me: Try to hit Shift to move immediately after a TP... Miss the Shift key, either hitting Caps Lock and right clicking, cancelling the TP, OR hitting Windows Key or Alt, thus crashing the game and missing out on 45 seconds of lane experience before I can reconnect,
About this TP thing, i started using them since last week after watching those purge owns with:(insert hero name here)... It has made me a much better player
@MUGENKAZKI By gg is garena I assume anyway eve if you don't call miss it's ther fault if they die from pushing a lane with 3 people not in vision range
Blink won't work if you're taking damage. Even if you do manage to blink to her, she will likely do more damage to you than you will to her anyways. Also, Blademail pretty much screws up every hero that does good DPS.
It is easy to carry the game alone since you get 5 times gold. The bonus gold came from your teammates bec. they quitted already and you get their GOLD/second bonus.
I'm good at number 5! Sadly the rest I'm not too good on. :( Shift is what I need to work most on, I don't feel it always working like I think it should.
Playing for a year now. Rlly good advice. Couple of things in there i didn't know. Ty.
when i saw skeleton king, I cried that my whole room flooded.
Skeleton King is no longer...
To be honest, i always tought that WK is badass. But SK looks(looked) even more
logoncal21 the Croissant King isn't badass, he's hilarious
in the rare occasion that my entire dota team is really nice and friendly is one of the most fun moments
aggred, I'm starting again...for some reason I actually got in a game where our entire team is friendly and we won flawlessly(in terms of power against opponents). I played as semi support, then one guy played as full support and I remember blaming our own simple mistakes for each fail attempt to kill and stuff lol really fun

This was sickly good, very well done dude. This helped a ton with stuff I was mostly aware of, but don't often REALLY pay attention to.
Thanks Lumi - I've been playing dota for about a year. Learned a lot from this vid today!!
Hey Lumi,
Came back just to say THANKS. Your videos are awesome and i just wanted to put that out there.
I cried when I remembered old cost of tp
+Pendalf's hideout soon a tp will cost 0 gold
+Daniels Buivids and will have gaiben face as icon
+Roberto De Gasperi. y
I just started playing dota2 recently and your guildes help me alot! Thanks!

Subscribed. Sometimes, I tend to forget just to have fun..When you have fun while playing something, you enjoy it. So, really, awesome video!
Need more of these practical guides rather than guides on heroes and items...
It was good and helpful for a beginner like me.. thanx
id like to see more gameplay improving tips/guides please. i found this very helpful and the friendly format is really effective
THE BONUS TIP AT THE END REALLY HELPED ME. VEGETA'S SCOUTER WAS DESTROYED FROM MY POWER LEVEL.
I love your videos. They're so light hearted and fun. Unlike the usual serious-omg-i-must-win-at-dota-or-i-am-useless-for-life
shift keys ftw... its amazing how there is so much about dota that,s still unknown to me.. this video helped a lot.. thanks.
I think this is very helpful Luminous! Thx for your share man :3 Love ya and DoTA2 always.
Another bonus tip I'm gonna bring up here.

ty man this is rly helpful
been playing for a year now
never rly cared to use the shift key but from now on i will try to use more often
thx a lot
nice vid. i real ylike the idea of writing the time roshan died down. tahts awesome
Heroes that should definitely make use of SHIFT+BLINK

Totally didn't know about the shift key tricks, really handy.
love the way he introduce the shift keys.. It really helps.. Lumi for president,,!
Tip number 5 is legit the best tip in the video.
really good guide lumi, great job and keep doing it!

THANK YOU SO MUCH I ALWAYS WONDERED HOW PURGE MADE THAT SHIFT WALK. !
thx now im one step closer to becoming good at dota when it's released :)
That Shift thing just changed my whole life
LOVE YOU LUMI I HAVE WATCHED ALL YOUR VIDEOS!!!

Not harder, more inconvenient
well to be fair people made certain rules for tournaments/competitive(gambling in cm mode) like only one bottle, one courier which now is done regularly but back then it was really stupid.
lold at the flash msg at the end "Subs Helps Too" had to pause the video to read it haha
Thanks man, nice video:)
i will try the shift key one... sounds cool
are the icons and tp animation in the game from the beta build? apologies if this sounds weird.
And the saddest thing is that, I almost watched all your replays in all your channels.
Btw. great english and great accent, even for an asian ;)
People who have played for 6 years know all of this shit. If they don't, I worry about the learning speed of players
I play since 3 months and i met people that play for over 5 years and are still at my MMR. they dont even play better than me. (then again, i played 160 hours in 2 weeks) :D
>Actually having a life
What's wrong with you?
i have a life. yet i wanna game for a living. :) so i have to train as much as possible to become the best :P
What he said was " you can still improve your game even if you have played for 6-7 years," hes not talking about the tips hes just saying u can always improve and learn

last "tipp" so true. play in a good mood, become the next dendi. play in a bad mood, get into nerdrage :)
Thanks! Very useful.
Thanks Lumi, My Dota level is over 9000 now, even though i lost a game :D
keep it up awesome tips!
"Then the reply is not your mom or dagon 5"
That.
Me: Try to hit Shift to move immediately after a TP...
Miss the Shift key, either hitting Caps Lock and right clicking, cancelling the TP,
OR hitting Windows Key or Alt, thus crashing the game and missing out on 45 seconds of lane experience before I can reconnect,
we need some kind of "button trainer". is there something like that on the web?
Please do more of this
whats that key binding setup? is it from dota? and is it objectively better than the lol setup or just preference?
Damn it, why did no one tell me about shift-commands before? Thanks a lot for this info!
Thanks! this really helped alot
shift keys hlpd me a lot tnx bro...
About this TP thing, i started using them since last week after watching those purge owns with:(insert hero name here)... It has made me a much better player
@MUGENKAZKI By gg is garena I assume anyway eve if you don't call miss it's ther fault if they die from pushing a lane with 3 people not in vision range
David watch this you need this.
what happened to your top 5 series? T.T
the TP, blink ult is pretty hot
would you update this 5 ways to improve in Dota?
Great advice.
shift keys so underused yet so important
6 years dota veteran, represent!!
TY Lumi, really nice advices !!! :-D
5th one is so true! i dont do trashtalking unless someone started it haha
Luminous best person in Dota. Ever.
really helpful tips lumi :)
@LuminousInverse lol, you wrote 1. Constnatly have TP scrolls at 7:11 xd
But nice tips, I subscribed and am pretty Gosu now :D
Need to study, need to sleep, need to watch.Okay lets watch...
Nice tips!
What is Roshan' cd?
My warkey gets stucked after doing epicenter shift blink. Why does this happens?
Great video
@TheBrinjal ive said, net shift plus voodo....
he cant escape vodo. and i dont realy think he can escape net either
played lol in 3 years gonna give this a try
Blink won't work if you're taking damage. Even if you do manage to blink to her, she will likely do more damage to you than you will to her anyways. Also, Blademail pretty much screws up every hero that does good DPS.
i think tip one should include getting dust vs invis heros. That way pub star heros like clinks and sa won't seem so OP.
wat!! TP use to cost 135 Gold?
Yes sr
Lumi... you're the man!
super useful... THX!!
It is easy to carry the game alone since you get 5 times gold. The bonus gold came from your teammates bec. they quitted already and you get their GOLD/second bonus.
you are the best bro~! i'm new in DOTA 2 >_
such a nice tutorial
the shift think fuck my brains, I know it works for walking from dota 1 but to put in on spells :|, My Whole LIFE WAS A LIE
i don't know in others countries but in Brazil nobodys use stop to creeps, it;s so logical use it...
CHOO CHOO!
I'm doing the all hero train now!
thanks for the tips . tp is rly important :D
how do i make my in game skin look like that
Blink is 6 seconds at level 4 for QOP and 5 seconds for AM I believe.
I'm good at number 5! Sadly the rest I'm not too good on. :( Shift is what I need to work most on, I don't feel it always working like I think it should.
4min tp purchase? what does that mean?
very helpful... thanks
The last tip is the best LOL
@FellTheSky actually he can lol. magina casts his blank faster than rhasta casts his net.
8:06 Ninja appears for 0.1 second
@MusashiKagehide
WE MUST EMBRACE PAIN AND BURN IT AS FUEL
