If they're competitive against Dallas/Philly and beat Atlanta, they're still where they need to be.
2-3 after ATL with the 3 L's coming in competitive, close, hard fought games against DAL, PHI and KC and I'll feel real good about this team. Different story if they get manhandled.
Carr essentially picked up where he left off those last 5 weeks, and now he has a bonafide stud OC calling plays now... We might see his best days as a starting QB of his career in this system.

@@9justgaminghe made the playoffs twice with the Raiders, once in '16 when he finished 3rd in MVP voting (got injured right before the playoffs started), and then again in '21.
I think he makes his 5th pro bowl and earns his 1st all pro this season. He's picked up right where he left off to end last season.
As long as his offensive line can do their jobs by protecting Derek and can do a good job run blocking, Derek's going to get us where we want to be
@@9justgamingI'd say that he didn't make the playoffs or go deep into the playoffs more often with the Raiders because the team/organization was bad...not because he was a bad QB. In all of his years with the Raiders, there's not one season where you can look at the roster and say that they had a great team but didn't win because of Derek Carr. Not one. It's not much different than the Matthew Stafford situation was with Detroit.

I’m optimistic they are gonna have a good year but it’s one game and we kicked the Pats asses early last year. I’m gonna trust the process and believe the Saints are on the rise!!
I agree that we should pause the excitement or temper it a bit. However, though the Patriots game was a blowout last year, we still didn't look like we had a game plan or like we were working like a cohesive unit. That's the biggest change I see. All phases looked coordinated and executed like a well-oiled machine. Dallas will be the true test.
Until i found this channel, i felt like I was watching ESPN youtube edition of people who dont watch film and are just following the pack for anything saints. (Newtime saints fan who moved with carr last year) Glad i found this channel this week and i finally have someone who actually forms their own opinion and can back it up!

The two biggest things I was worried about was the O line and the outside chance that the saints would trade draft capital and sign a big name shiney new player. Thank god the second did not come true. YET????. And the O line looked good, but I wanna see how they perform against Dallas, we will know if they are the real deal after Tampa. But so far the O line has looked better than it has in years. Its amazing what Carr can do when hes not sucking turf after every play.

When I saw the Panthers Defensive line already breathing hard, with their hands on their hips, you knew they were done.
It’s a lot more difficult to rush the passer when your D-Line is gassed from being run on all day.
I said to everyone I know it would be interesting to watch a good QB to run Mike S system... Brock is ok but Carr will run this system very good look back to 2016 very similar system Raider 4 Life

The Saints might shock a lot of people if Carr continues to play at a high level. Opposing teams do not have a lot of tape on the new Saints' offense with these players. And we already know how the defense is coming.

Realistically, we just beat a team that went 2-15 last year. I liked the fact that the Saints made fewer mistakes and were less predictable than most of last year but that game was not a measure of how improved we are. Let's see how we do in Dallas before we start getting too excited.

Its not like Carolina is some division 3 college team that got beat up. Dallas beat Cleveland...historically one of the worst teams in the league. Could it be DC4 is a good QB that's been in systems/franchises that were not very good?
He showed how good he could be in his career, namely '15 and '16, '19, '20, and '21. Unfortunately the defenses on those teams were so bad that he never got short fields for easy TDS, or extra possessions in a game.....meaning he didn't have gawdy stats. They were always super efficient tho, making the most of every opportunity. Same exact story for Stafford in Detroit.
So yes, bad teams will in fact hold potentially great QB's back. Happens more then most think.

Pete Carmichael was the downfall of the team last year and people seem to forget about it because we didn’t make much changes. Klint Kupiak kept all of his wide zone, motion, and play action under the bus until the regular season. Love to surprise people this year, but we coming!
First real test will be the cowboys, but if we can beat them, I can see us dominating the NFC South heading into the playoffs.
This video is amazing. I can’t tell you how many people I was arguing with about the Saints. I live in Chicago (Saints fan tho) and ALL my friends were saying the Saints were going to suck because Derek Carr sucks. Meanwhile, they’re all Bears fans who say Caleb Williams is the next Tom Brady haha. I watch a lot of football channels and you’re the only one who was saying this would happen. I couldn’t believe the line being at -190 on DK. I had to google the game to see who was injured, I was that shocked.
Carr is one of the best QB's in the NFL, the only reason anyone thinks less of him is bc he was surrounded by bad teams most of his career. I think that changes this season.
