I honestly can’t thank Casper enough for using his platform to talk about tourettes. One of the hardest parts for me, growing up with tourettes, was never seeing anyone like me, never seeing it talked about in a serious manner, never being shown that you can life and full and happy life with your tourettes not despite it. I really hope this has a positive impact in educating those who don’t have tourettes and giving confidence and reassurance to those who do ❤️

Nadya Ahmed it’s a tick. Some people bark like a dog, some swear, some kick their legs or nod their head. We can’t control it. It’s embarrassing and awkward and awful. But it’s part of you.

Always in awe of how kind and open you are. You wear your heart on your sleeve and don’t let the opinions of others cloud who you are and want to be, which is so difficult in any setting let alone one in the media. These interviews and the sharing of your story are powerful. I’m glad that there are people like you in media, and grateful for the impact and changes you might be able to deliver someday.

I always describe my Tourette’s as like when you need to sneeze and the longer you hold it in the worse it gets. I’m 15 now and my Tourette’s have gotten a lot better but I still tic occasionally. I scrunch my eyes and clench my fist and I occasionally have a vocal tic. I also have a stutter which makes things a bit harder but I’ve noticed when I surf or just be in the ocean my tics completely stop. :)

    • @adgtheone

I befriended a guy with tourettes in elementary school because he didn't have many friends and then he grew up to be very popular and ended up forgetting about me completely! He grew out of a lot of his ticks and ended up being one of the most popular guys at school and as great as it was to see him thriving it was sad to see our friendship die.

My dad has it. Till my mom was pregnant, he didn't know it could be genetically inheritant. I don't have it, but my children will have 25% chance of having Tourette. But I'm glad that my dad is such a nice and intelligent human being. So what if people stare? I explained it to all my friends and they accepted it very fast and don't think its weird (that much) anymore. Tourette still has stigma around it, but it gets better step by step. Thank you, Cas, for being one of those people talking about it publicly. Also all of the young people in this video are so nice, I'm rooting for them!

I was diagnosed with tourettes syndrome when I was 4, all through my school years I was bullied for it. Alot of people don't understand what tourettes actually is they mostly see the generic vocal tourettes but never really see what physical tourettes is like, over the years I've come to terms with how to cope with it, tiredness and stress sends my ticks out if control. I'm 21 and my physical tourettes play a big part in my day to day life, but I never let it stop me from being normal. Really inspiring content Casper! Too see you have the guts to open up to the Internet is amazing and I look up to you. Keep it up.

I'm currently 24 and I've learned to suppress my ticks, but I grew up with Tourette's, and half the battle of going through school making ticks and getting made fun of was the fact that no one understood what Tourette's was. It's real cool to see you using your platform to raise awareness.

I grew up with tourettes. They were really bad when I was around 12/13. They are fine now, most people I meet don't even know I have them. My brother's are still noticeable when he gets upset or angry and my sister's are noticeable when it's really quiet (she has throat clicks) but they are definitely much better for the three of us now that we're adults.

Layla Bug is tourettes genetic? Since you and your siblings all have it?

Layla Bug that's incredibly rare that all three of you have it, you must be closer because of it?

There was a guy on the voice who had Tourette’s but the ticks went away when he was singing. (He was an amazing singer) Believe it or not, that was the first time I had heard of Tourette’s. Thank you for sharing your story and helping me understand it more.

If you see someone with Tourette's please don't ask them to try to stop their ticks
I saw in a documentary that suppressing them actually hurts sometimes

As someone also living with the condition, I have a bit of advice when dealing with bullies. Own your tics. If someone stares of makes a comment or anything like that just say 'i have tourettes so what?' if they're not accepting of that then that's their problem. Don't ever let someone make you feel ashamed or embarrassed or anything like that because of having tourettes or any other condition. Own it. Be proud of it. Love it. Its part of you so why should you have to apologize? You don't apologize for your eye colour or your hair colour so why your tics? Why your tourettes? I know it's hard and I know bullies words can hurt but you will get through it. I love you and I'm proud of you all. Carry on fighting💕💕👍👍💪
