    Great video but Google home tells me jokes all the time... I can play games with it and so on. I'm not sure what's up with yours.

    Yeah I have a google home and I don’t have any of the issues that were shown in this video. It always answers questions well, I think it was way overstated how much smarter Alexa was. Kind of disappointed how poorly prepared this video was, a quick read anywhere you would know the volume controls are touching on either side of the 4 dots.

      Katie Helmer I don't think he gave it a big enough space between "ok google" and what he wanted it to do, google takes a little longer to respond to ok google than the echo dot

    Very one sided. Google home and the google home mini uses the google search engine. Alexa uses bing. When was the last time anybody used bing to search anything? Google home and the mini is 1000 times better. Alexa is a cheap product built just to make money

    Overall, Google is still the better choice. Alexa, being an Amazon item is geared towards driving towards Amazon products with answers. Google has the search power of the internet without being tied to a single sales based site.
    Cheers! ~Mike

    • @Dragonwing007
      @Dragonwing007 7 лет назад

      Josh RN I appreciate your thoughts, Josh. With Google being an internet search engine that has no allegiance to one particular sale site, versus Alexa which is a product from a specific sales site... somehow I believe your argument is the same point I was trying to make. I don't believe I've ever gone to Amazon to do an internet search for answers. I have Amazon Plus and I love the perks that it allows me, but in most reviews, tests, and overall independent opinions about the two products, the Google products seem to be more about answers across a wider range, than finding solutions through Amazon or Amazon Prime products. Either way, both are good and it's personal preference. I'm not too impressed with this new Mini that Matt demonstrated, but the larger Google products seemed to work fairly well. Alexa does too. Thanks.

      Well Matt works for Amazon so he's not going to mention that you can buy the Google mini at Walmart for $50 with a $25 rebate through Walmart so for $25 you can get the Google mini. Of course he doesn't mention it here because he is an Amazon employee

  • @Clipbrd

    Very 1 sided, towards Amazon.
    I've owned Google home for many months and compared to my friends Echo, google kills Echo.

    • @thedealguy
      @thedealguy  7 лет назад +8

      Definitely not intentionally one sided. My tests are based off one day of usage.
      What do you think the Google Home Mini has over the Echo? I'd love to know so I can show it off in future tests :)
      Thanks Harry!

    • @RonJohnston
      @RonJohnston 7 лет назад +10

      Matt I've enjoyed you for quite some time but you lean way too much towards Amazon. Like you did on this one. I love Amazon that's where I buy by most of my electronics and many other things but the Google mini is better. Also the Google mini is available at Walmart for $50 with a $25 Walmart credit. Of course you're not going to mention that because you work for Amazon. I will continue to watch and enjoy your videos but I know who your employer is. It'll be interesting to see which tablets you recommend if it's just the ones that come with Amazon ads

    • @pmlonline

      I agree! After just watching nearly a dozen google home vs echo dot comparison videos and then watching your video is jaw dropping. Wow dude, how long did it take you to find a question that google couldn't answer and echo could? Seriously? Hard to believe it was by accident.

      Harry B I agree because of the way this video is going it is one-sided towards Amazon Echo

  • @Knight11692
    @Knight11692 7 лет назад +27

    This was aimed toward amazon the test was pointless. I don't own either one of them, but it's common knowledge that google has been around forever so there is no way that amazon would have more information. I'm not sure what kind of test this is, but you would have to do some serious work to get the answer from the echo that you couldn't get from google mini.

      I picked up the google home a few weeks ago and might return for the same reasons seen here, it just keeps saying it's trying to learn the things that Alexa already does. I have them both , tried the same things on both and google is still in school. Alexa has "skills" that help in this process, Google does not have anything where you can teach it new things . You are right, Google has been around for some time and the home mini does just that ... Google searches and not much else. You won't really know until you try them both with your day to day things . Hope this helps..

    I have an Echo, Echo Dot, and Google Home. Comparing the Echo and Google Home I prefer the Echo, but not by much. They both seem pretty comparable. Sometimes one will answer a question the other can't, and vice versa. I actually enjoy having both. Great video as always.

    I have Home, Dot and now added Mini to my collection. IMHO it is the crappiest device of all. First, shape of the power adapter sucks becuase it takes to much space when plugged to the standard power strip (adapter covers part of tge additional outlet). Second, good luck using generic USB charger or micro USB cable with Mini. Third, people like things to play music loud (me too). But what about the lowes volume setting? Dot set to volume level 1 can be further lowered by up to 3 notches which makes it more suited to play music for a bed time. Try to fall asleep while playing music at lowest volume level on Mini (even playing lullabys for a baby). Fourth, Dot has more buttons (Google took functionality from the top button out of the Mini recently). I can shut music immediatelly off on Dot, while with Mini I have to shout when music plays loud or lower the volume first and then turn the music off. And last, this is actually big plus for Echo: If you have Android phone with Google Assisstant, simply pair it with Echo Dot using Bluetooth. Now you can use all Google's Assisstant features with Echo Dot (through your phone) by saying "OK Google".

    Matt, thanks for your video. I just got a Google home Mini, and I have been using a friend's Alexa for months. I have 3 chromecasts, so I chose Google over buying a Firestick. I have been programming my own actions, and I can make Google home do anything the Alexa can do. Put of the box I can turn my TV on and off, play Netflix, RUclips Movie, CBS, HBO, Vicki, Spotify, Google Music, directly to my Chromecasts. I have my Google Home Mini directly attached to my sound bar through Bluetooth. I get the advantage of Google Search intelligence instead of Bing. The sound on the Mini alone is as good as the Echo tower, but I couldn't connect his tower to a Bluetooth speaker.
    In your video, you mentioned several times early on that Alexa is clearly better, but then you did not demonstrate that in the video. I like Alexa, and I realize they are ahead of the game, but I have not found one thing the Mini couldn't do that that the Alexa could.

    I'm shocked that Google Home was not able to answer some of your questions, considering that Google has a vast database of data that it can go thru vs amazon. I've had an Echo Mini for a couple of months and just bought a Home Mini to compare. The attraction of the Home was that it could sort of control some aspects of Chromcast built in on my Sony Android TV. In other respects so far I've found the Echo better: connectivity (the out jack), better mics - it hears you better, and way better with its integration with control - especially with Philips Hue. On the upside the Home speaker quality is significantly better than the Echo but that doesn't really matter as I have the Echo playing out through my AV Amp.

    Matt, It seems to me that at this point in the development of the Google Home mini or the Amazon Echo Dot that the Amazon has the advantage. It seems easy enough to overcome the poor audio by connecting it to a better speaker source. It will be interesting to see how the Google Home mini develops as the cloud data accumulates more resources for it and how long it take Amazon to realize they need a better quality speaker module.

    I don't think that the speaker quality of the Alexa dot would be paramount for me but I would appreciate the more exact result of the mathematical questions. So I think I need to vote for Alexa Dot. Good demonstration Matt. Thanks.

    Great video Matt! I also have both Google home and Amazon Alexa. I like both of them for different reasons. Alexa is much smarter than Google Home but Google home does have answers to questions that Alexa doesn't understand.
