It’s hard to convey for people who weren’t reading at the time, how big a deal Messiah Complex was when it came out. It really felt like a proper culmination of some of the threads that had been building up in the X-men storylines for years and was the first crossover we had for a long, long time, really bringing together all the disparate titles and giving a unifying storyline to the X-men line and driving the next few years of drama with X-Force, Messiah War and second coming. It felt like it saved the whole ‘decimation’ storyline, which was very polarising. Feels like she is another one of those characters that after having the story revolve around them, writers struggle to know what to do with her.
