I personally enjoyed the video + speaker. Though others might find him unenthusiastic, if you actually listen to what hes saying, he provides extremely useful information + explains very clearly what you need to know (which is the point of the guide). Its simple, straight-forward, not too long, very informational + useful, and importantly it was delivered with a calm & collective way of speaking. Which is a testament to how good SFV players play, calm & collective.
This game is absolutely amazing. I feel so extremely fortunate to see another street fighter release as I have been with the series since the early 90's. Its so amazing to see how far it has come. I will be a SFfan 4 life✌🏿️Yatai
Well done! Animations are very clear and easy to understand for new people. Commentator did a decent job as well. Please for all characters the same style like this one!
Congrats! I always watch guides from the community and I'm very happy to see Capcom making one of their own! I hope for more quality guides like these to all characters!
This is BY FAR the best video for beginners I have seen! And I've seen a shit ton of them lately. Thanks! I'm about to check if you have more of these! Edit: I just realized this is the official channel? Why is this video not in the game?!
I like how the Street Fighter channel as well as the Mortal Kombat X RUclips channel makes these official tutorials to help out with a lot about the character. Maybe this could be something that could be added within the game it self in the future. Really cool!!
What's a crush counter? How do you do one? It's possible to cancel specials with medium attacks? What is a good punish combo? What is a mix up? V-Trigger activation on hit, what does that mean? Using two punches to throw a fireball, what is the cost? The animation didn't look longer, why wouldn't I always throw a two-punch fireball? "Ryu's super is cancellable from his upper cut and fireball attacks": does that mean I can start the super and cancel it with a fireball or uppercut? Do I need V-trigger fully maxed in order to use his counter? Great video, I can't wait to see the other characters covered!
a crush counter is just a counter hit using a heavy attack. depending on which heavy attack you use it will have different stun\knockdown properties. Cancelable means you can cancel the shoryu or fireball into the super, opposite from what you commented.
using a special move with two buttons expends one bar of your EX meter. you need 3 bars of EX to use a super. A mix up is a situation where you can choose multiple different options that your opponent will have to react to differently. for example, if you jump in with an aerial heavy kick and your opponent blocks it, you are now in a mix up situation where you could low attack, high attack, grab, jump out, special, etc. your opponent has to predict correctly to win in that situation
this is great! wish they did this for tekken. I love that capcom is focused on making this accessible to newcomers while keeping it competitive for pros.
Maybe it's better that the story is not out yet. Gives you time to practice all characters and play the story the proper way. Not just spam things all the way through.
+mohammed hgf Suvival doesn't have the proper round system and resets to properly practice. You also have to fight so many braindead bots before they get competent in that mode.
This is so useful! Im planning on learning how to play SFV properly 'cause Im a complete noob, and this is a great guide about the basics of the character. Now I just wait until I can get the game and an arcade stick and Im ready to go.
Brand new to fighting games. I bought sf5 last night, and I suck real bad. cant even combo normals consistantly. didny even bother getting online first. Should I learn Ryu first, since I heard hes what many characters are based on, or can I go ahead and start trying the ones I like stylistically like necali or cammy?
Ryu is very good for learning the game because his combos are very easy and he's pretty vanilla compared to a lot of other characters, cammy is also very good for beginners though so if you really want start with her, don't give up on the game if you suck, keep practicing and you'll get better, good luck!
Not many people are pros as soon as they pick up a fighting game, it'll take time and patience, Ryu is a good character to use for learning easy combos, after you feel comfortable doing his, pick up your character and practice their combos until you can do them consistently, things like spacing and what move to use in what situation should eventually come to you naturally.
You guys should really fix the errors in this! Combo 4 @ 6:48 - cr. HP - not st. HP! st. HP isn't cancellable! Shinku Hadouken is written Skinku You spelled whiffed as wiffed Also if you could get combofiend or somebody who doesn't sound bored to death to voice these instead, that would be great.
hi, I have a suggestion. tips during a fight, showing their pros and couns through a round. how he can run and counter attack some composure, and how he got vulnerable attacking in a wrong way... think about this. see ya
Great guide i do have a few questions if anyone can answer, 1)Do i have to hit confirm in air with a LP or LK before i EX Air Tatsumaki? 2)Does standing HK on crouch block count as over head, or is there a faster over head he can use?
Can't wait for R. Mika, Lauras, & Nash's!! Only criticism: it'd be great if this was put in the game & also try to get a bit more enthusiasm going for the talking. Aside from that great!
I'm new to Street Fighter, play Smash competitively, trying to get these combos down however I'm a little curious. Are some of these out of date? Like have they patched the game to balance it and now certain combos dont connect?
What is amazing is that in the video you did 3 easy MP + Airborne Tatsumaki but I can barely do it; just seems very easy in your vid. Plus: you don't mention the VT2, which is more risky but very effective against Bison or other charging type characters.
I recommend releasing a fighting game glossary first, in case there isn't one out already. Terms like frames, hit-stun, etc. could get a little confusing for new players. Off topic: Isn't it sad how capcom abandoned certain design choices like expanded stages (china), and normals that are visibly different on block or hit? (Ryu's sweep and cr. hp). Wish more characters or stages had this level of detail.
+razrsrealm Yeah I agree. The weakest part of the game (in my opinion) is the stages. I like the New Zealand and the China one and thats about it. There is also very few of them.
today I got my madcatz fightstick te2+, looks amazing but finding it really hard to do some special moves especially combos, I just can't get use to it been training for few hours now
The only real advice I can offer is to continuously grind with the stick, you will get used to it eventually. Keep practicing till then and rise up to the challenge!
this is amazing! WHY ISNT THIS IN THE GAME? this is exactly what new players need to see when they play the game. not here!
+Hamad Sager I agree. I'd like to see this in the game.
+Hamad Sager Said the same before I read that comment.
I Totally agree!
+Hamad Sager agreed!!!!!!! tell capcom to add these in the game! itt's exactly what sf5 needs
they are getting better and better at making the game more accessible but they have a ways to go still. I agree, this should be in game.
+Don Rodie Which is in RUclips, not the game.
Which is a testament to how good SFV players play, calm & collective.

dam dude you sound like you're about to die, lol
+MW2mostwanted Lol, Nah bruh just a huge fan of the series. a DIE hard fan 😜
Now this is how you make a character guide.
Smash players take note.
I honestly don’t agree with “easy combos” because they do tend to be rather difficult to perform if you’re playing this game from the first time
@@joelugalde8843 compared to other characters these are easy
What about Mr. Sakurai's presents?
awesome job on this. can't wait for other guides on the remaining characters.
real shhhhiiitttt
Like said it your profile picture, we still wait Juri :3
She's There mah Boy
I don't see one for Cody sadly.
On the 4th combo you've forgot to add in the crouching state on one of the HP's. Should be f.HP > c.HP xx HP Shoryuken xx Shinku Hadoken
Thanks, I felt pretty frustrated when It wasn't working out for me
Well done!
Animations are very clear and easy to understand for new people. Commentator did a decent job as well. Please for all characters the same style like this one!
Slight notation error at 6:48, it's meant to be f.HP into cr.HP not s.HP.
+ahmz1404 Shinku Hadouken is written "Skinku" as well.
+ahmz1404 Also a typo at the end; it should be "whiffed", not "wiffed."
Thank you for noticing, as I was trying to link it, but it wouldn't connect.
Impressively edited character guide for Ryu: very nice!
This was beautiful. Just getting into fighting games and Street Fighter in general. Exactly what I needed to help me start.
Fun guide. Flows well and details everything. Love your transitions.
this is amazing, there's no other word to describe this,it's quick, concise, ideal for beginners and intermediate players alike, great job
Congrats! I always watch guides from the community and I'm very happy to see Capcom making one of their own! I hope for more quality guides like these to all characters!
Put this in the game, everybody is waiting for it, let's do it Capcom.
Very thorough guide, great production value y'all
Holy shit. The production value in this is excellent. Props.
OMG this is the best SF guide I have ever seen, Nice Work !!!
Reminds me of the Kombat Klass videos NRS has been doing.
This is really good stuff, I'm sure it will be helpful to a lot of new players. Great work!
This is way better than those cheezy kombat classes.
+Titanium I was just thinking that.
+Ali Behrooz (Linky97) at least MK works 😂
Xenomorph RG i'm not talking about the game...
+Xenomorph RG SFV works fine.
MK on PC didnt work for months.
This is BY FAR the best video for beginners I have seen! And I've seen a shit ton of them lately.
Thanks! I'm about to check if you have more of these!
Edit: I just realized this is the official channel? Why is this video not in the game?!
My god, this is great. Didn't see it coming! Congratulations for this awesome guide guys.
"His pokes are above average"
No.
very neat video.. nice to watch someone helping new players to understand the game mechanics.
This is great. I hope you guys are planning on making one for each character because that would be so helpful.
Excellent Video Capcom
well done bro excellent tutorial for starters really wished this was around when sf3 came out so had to learn all by myself
The in-game tutorial told me to look at the character guide
*Surge of murderous intent intensifies*
I like how the Street Fighter channel as well as the Mortal Kombat X RUclips channel makes these official tutorials to help out with a lot about the character. Maybe this could be something that could be added within the game it self in the future. Really cool!!
Great series! Looking forward to the rest!
Glad to be a Ryu main!
Amazing kind of video, every game should have this kind of video
Nice work! Looking forward to the other characters!
This and future guides should be accessible in-game.
Now these are great character videos. Looking forward to Bison!
Well organised, good pace, not too slow not too fast. Can't wait for Nash's.
I don’t even like fighting games, I can’t keep up with remembering everything. I just love being explained things.
Ryu is the very first Fighting game character I ever used.. 23 turning 24 this year n he will always be my main..
This is such a great guide for a beginner like me, I just wish tutorials like these were in the actual game

Matt Myers Thank you! I wish this guide covered the things it mentioned, like you just did.
+thedreameater no problem man! yeah I agree, its a lot to learn
You guys need to update these videos per patch
this is great! wish they did this for tekken. I love that capcom is focused on making this accessible to newcomers while keeping it competitive for pros.
Announcer needs a mic sock, he's popping his "P's" like crazy.
Great Guide. This will help me in my training. Thanks.
Maybe it's better that the story is not out yet. Gives you time to practice all characters and play the story the proper way. Not just spam things all the way through.
+Elven King Arcade would be nice tho ;/
CPU in training mode at max. difficulty seems quite competent, unlike SF4's.
razrsrealm Yeah I agree.
+mohammed hgf Suvival doesn't have the proper round system and resets to properly practice. You also have to fight so many braindead bots before they get competent in that mode.
Wow this is an awesome character guide
Awesome, awesome guide! Good job guys!
Really well done, I was rather surprised
For a new player like me... are there going to be trail mode where you can test/learn combos in future updates?
This is so useful! Im planning on learning how to play SFV properly 'cause Im a complete noob, and this is a great guide about the basics of the character. Now I just wait until I can get the game and an arcade stick and Im ready to go.
This is really going to help with survival mode, thanks Capcom!
Sure with Nintendo did guides like this with Smash Bros.
or even guides for every street fighter game that would be awesome
these guides are awesome
I'm very excited for an M. Bison guide.
Fingercramp jaaaaaaaygo!
Very well put together video. More like this please.
good production value and informative! would be great if we had one for the whole roster :P
Brand new to fighting games. I bought sf5 last night, and I suck real bad. cant even combo normals consistantly. didny even bother getting online first. I think combo 4 (6:51) should have been F+HP --> cr. HP --> HP shoryu --> CA instead of F+HP --> st. HP ...
Ryu fireball cross ups are good to use and quick
Nice, it's for Ryu now.
im gonna learn the whole cast with these videos. great stuff
You guys should really fix the errors in this!
Combo 4 @ 6:48 - cr. HP - not st. HP! st. HP isn't cancellable!
Shinku Hadouken is written Skinku
You spelled whiffed as wiffed
Also if you could get combofiend or somebody who doesn't sound bored to death to voice these instead, that would be great.
That was a great guide!
hi, I have a suggestion.
tips during a fight, showing their pros and couns through a round.
how he can run and counter attack some composure, and how he got vulnerable attacking in a wrong way...
think about this.
see ya
Good youtubers like u are rare
Combo 4 had wrong inputs i think, after forward heavy it's supposed to be a crouch heavy otherwise it won't connect.
Great guide, but just an FYI I think on Combo 4, after the Solar Plexus, that's supposed to be a cr. HP instead of s. HP (:
Great guide i do have a few questions if anyone can answer,
1)Do i have to hit confirm in air with a LP or LK before i EX Air Tatsumaki?
2)Does standing HK on crouch block count as over head, or is there a faster over head he can use?
yay. i just pulled off combo 4's 10 hot combo online. still lost, but getting better
Can't wait for R. Mika, Lauras, & Nash's!!
Only criticism: it'd be great if this was put in the game & also try to get a bit more enthusiasm going for the talking. Aside from that great!
Holy shit, this is good!
Now if only there were annotations in the right places :^)
So this is what Harrison's been doing since The Show That Sucks. Good stuff.
You guys should add the damage and stun values on the combos section. Also let people know what the best anti-airs are. Otherwise this was good
That's really nice!! It's a good way to start! I'm looking for Karin's :)
This is good guide please do this for all character
I'm new to Street Fighter, play Smash competitively, trying to get these combos down however I'm a little curious. Are some of these out of date? Like have they patched the game to balance it and now certain combos dont connect?
5:19 Skinku Hadoken?
What is amazing is that in the video you did 3 easy MP + Airborne Tatsumaki but I can barely do it; just seems very easy in your vid.
Plus: you don't mention the VT2, which is more risky but very effective against Bison or other charging type characters.
V trigger 2 wasn't in the game
Combo 4 graphic is wrong, its forward + hp > down + hp > shoryu > CA
hope they do this to all characters
Thumbs up this comment if you want Evil Ryu in SFV #RISEUP
Great job guys
I've had it enough with the dualshock, iv ordered a madcatz fightstick te2+, hopefully I could do the combos with ease
what does it mean when it says "Directional Charge" at the beginning, oppose to directional input?
Great Video. please do nash. i really like the character but i suck at him right now
Can´t wait for my homie Nash
Should put some annotations up for the different sections. Otherwise great video.
Outstanding
RYU, the eternal throat destroyer!
great vid, need to fix combo 4 notation though
Why do people in the background move at lower frame rate than the fighters? That didn't happen in SF4
Thank you for this guide, would be nice if it was integrated into the game though.
i wish u made street fighter 4 guides too
when will they release such videos for the other charakters ?
Really helped. Thnx
I'd great if they add more complicated combos(if there are of course) Good job! I'm waiting for a Karin guide
Oh there are. nash I'm able to get a 14 hit combo without using his critical art. granted I need to use 3 bars and V skill, but it's there
+Rob p the thing is that they should add it in the video
Is fairly new but I do get your point. They will have those combo Vids later down the line
jumping medium punch tatsu doesn't work anymore... either does jump medium punch EX tatsu. So sad.
when you gonna release the first update and arcade more?
+mstf92yt March. They rushed this version beacuse of the Capcom pro tou. More is coming soon, dont worry :)
+mstf92yt Next big update is in march.
+mstf92yt Arcade mode is now survival mode and the story mode. The cinematic story mode is coming out in June so dont confuse it there.
thank you
combo 4 has the wrong notation? c.hp insteand of "hp"
I recommend releasing a fighting game glossary first, in case there isn't one out already. Terms like frames, hit-stun, etc. could get a little confusing for new players.
