This video saved me $500. After my local servicing company failed to fix my water softener once, they offered to come back ($299.00 standard service fee) and replace the head (still under warranty, but they charge $200 for the labor involved in “rebuilding” it at their shop). After watching this video, I found a tiny grain of sediment in the Venturi, removed it, and that was that. If I had to do it again, it would probably take 15 minutes start to finish. Thank you!
Great video. My Kinetico unit was severely iron fouled. Inside parts were caked with rust build up. This helped me immensely with taking my head unit apart to give it a deep cleaning. Thank you for posting this.
Thanks to this well done video our water is back from the dead but most importantly I gained man points plus confidence not to mention a little later was also awarded in bed!! Unlike so many other videos this guy goes above and beyond describing and dissecting each and every level instead of only the 1st couple levels. If your gonna go that far I highly recommend going all the way as well. Also double check connection at brine/salt tank making sure there’s no leaks cause it plays important role as well. I no longer see any reason I can’t help this water beautifying machine work its magic forever:) Thanks for making this video my man!!
Great video, found a shard of ceramic debris lodged in one of the valves, and cleaned out tons of iron and calcium deposits. Took a few regen cycles, but all good again. Video talks about being careful to not over tighten the screws, but mine leaked like a sieve until I tightened them up considerably (after rechecking all the gaskets). Max hand tight worked with a hand held hex driver worked.
My Kinetico unit hasn't worked for probably a year and a half. It has the same problem where it is not drawing the brine. Thank you for posting this video. I'm debating whether or not to just go buy a completely different unit and install it to avoid the headaches that you have had with yours.
Mine is close to 20 years now. I keep looking for a dirt cheap used "newer" one on Craigslist to replace. Will keep the current one for spare parts. That said, my current system has been running strong since I last posted these videos.
Thanks for this. Yours is definitely one of the better videos showing the strip down. Did you identify the cause of the problem in the end, or was it a combination of debris in different places?
I bought an old house that has this model. The owner's manual talks about replacing a carbon filter every few years. The video did not talk about or show a filter. Is there a filter I'm supposed to be changing?
Excellent video! I have a Kinetico 30 dual tank system that stopped regenerating. I had levels 1 & 2 apart and cleaned them, and the gears seem to be turning freely. Any thoughts? Also, would you tell me where I can get parts? Thank you, Dave G.
I have the same problem. When the water is running in the house like from a shower I can hear a little click inside the head like it's trying to advance the disc. If I use a cross tip screwdriver to manually advance the disc 4-5 clicks then it will function until the next time it needs to go into the regeneration mode. I wonder if my turbine gear is out, like the one PapoosFam "replaced about 8 years ago..." at ruclips.net/video/LZGchlo9Dzw/видео.html in his video. He never says why he replaced the thing or even what the things is called. It's like saying, "I had to replace the lug nuts on my car 8 years ago" when I'm talking about how to maintain car tires. FYI, it's called a turbine #9 gear. Which is on the metering side of the head. I suspect that mine is wore out also which is the faint click I hear when water is running in the house and why the control disc advances like it's supposed to when it goes into regeneration mode after I manually advance the control disc by 4-5 clicks with my screw driver. Does this make sense? I hope this helps someone else. Now I need to go and pull my head apart and check that gear again now that I have a better idea when I am doing.
10:05 how much did the kinetico store charge you for those 4 square rubber washers around those four big valves on that stage 4? Is it some special rubber that doesn't degrade with salt so maybe I can look on eBay or Amazon for some Chinese washers or wouldn't you recommend that? I have the Supra 45. BTW I measured inner diameter 2 cm outer diameter 3 cm and width of 2 mm-- sound right?
Hi,Not sure if you're still monitoring this account, but I'm just wondering if I can disassemble and reassemble my Kinetico head without having to replace any seals or gaskets. Your reply will be most appreciated. Thanks for posting these videos about a subject that otherwise seems so "top secret"!
I've had mine apart now twice with same gaskets. As long as you don't pinch one when reassembling or one hasn't broken down then you should be fine, IMO.
Hi there inhave the same water softener but have no/trickle of water flowing from my output, by watching you video it seems like my media screen mite me block, do you have a video or and suggestions on how to check or replace this
Do you have a video or instructions on how to change out the media - both resin and carbon? Also, how much of each media is needed in a dual Qual51? Thanks!!
I disconnected my kinetico system and moved it to my new house...now I forgot where the 2 nozzle go...I one goes to the brine tank and the other to water drain/sink...how can tell which nozzle is which
My local Kinetico is not interested in repairing my old unit. They want to sell me another one when all I need is probably a part or two. Even if I needed a $200 repair I'd be good with that but they are no help there. So I have nothing to lose attempting to repair it myself.

I have I believe is a Model 100. However, it has three connections, two discharge nozzles, one brine nozzle. I took it apart and a little venturi disc, approx 1/4" dia x 1/8" thick, concave on one side, for the life of me I can't figure out where it came from...I believe level 3. I can send photos if you wish to help me a bit. Mark
I have a Kinetico system also, but it keeps going into its bachwash cycle and does not stop. I live in an area that has a lot of Iron which is the reason I put this system in. What would be the most likely cause of this? Thanks!
I would check all gears to make sure they operate with restriction. 4:50. Also watch the white indicators on the very top of the unit. They should be moving and clicking during backwash.
To prevent cutting new threads and damaging the unit, back off the big screws anticlockwise till you hear a click so that the threads sit correctly and then screw them back in - see this video ruclips.net/video/Ul4JZyqvsyo/видео.html

what did you do to get the iron out safely without damaging the plastic and rubber?
@@MrPorkChop1972 Honestly, I really don't remember. I replaced my unit for something more modern like 6 months later.

I have salty water. Did the manual regenerate. Drain line works. I get suction when in Brine/rinse. What do you recommend I check next?

IMO, I think your gears will turn "freely" but I think it is probably slipping when the regeneration turbine gear is slipping under load.

My salt tank will not refill, how does the system know when or how much water to add to the tank?
Mine has a float to stop it filling once it is at the right level

How do you change out the softener valve screw? Mine is stripped.

When looking at this video, the brine tank is connected to the black tube in the "front" of unit. Drain is the clear/white tube on the "side".
Where is the Kinitico store you refer to? I haven’t found a place to buy parts. Thanks for the video.
Same here. Seems this is like the HVAC industry where they just try to rob you blind by keeping everything secret. If i find anything I'll advise.
Found anything yet?

To relieve pressure from the system, turn the kitchen sink on and let it run and then turn off the water supply. Pressure gone.
I assume that you don't have a 5 micron pre-filter to reduce the iron sediment coming in from your well?
