It's a new wave who start from surrealism, then rised after WWII. Trauma and Solitude individualistic capitalism atmophere and architecture increase the inconscious mode, so lead to surrealism art expressions I think.
This art trend is more than a trend but a soul mode for these era we live in, generation after generation. So surrealism it's our soul inconscious communication.
But what after this long trend, like what the soul gonna want after that?
