An era long gone, never to be lived again. I'm just old enough to remember this time.....and I miss it ! Life was simpler and it allowed us to live it. Watching this video I can smell that time, the warm sunshine and everything thing moved slowly. Thanks.
My grandparents who were from Vancouver. Always told me stories about these trollies. And for the Chilliwack locations. 09:58 - Chilliwack station/ no longer there. At the end of 5th & Nowell street. 10:07 The Empress hotel/ no longer there. Corner of Princess Ave. And Young Rd. 10:44 Standing at (Five) corners. Looking down Yale street towards little mountain. Paramount theatre is no longer there on the left. 11:07 Old Chilliwack court house I believe. On the corner of Court Ln and College St
We need these electric gems back and all those beautiful trees ... My cousins and Aunt and uncle and Grandparents lived in Veddar and Chiliwack But in the 70s and 80s
Incredible that this is still available. The Interurban is something my father always told me about in reference to his childhood and to actually see it in operation is amazing !
Enjoyed the video. Recently I drove by one of the old power houses in langley, had to google what the building was. Prince George has a couple of BC's old electric trains at the museum - was neat to see.
Great video , it was time when promising future on horizon , electric locomotives , the Rail Transportation should upgraded and keep electrified Rail Roads , look at sample in Switzerland , Norway, Sweden for comparison to clime excuse , unfortunately Canadian transportation network fell back at least 25 -30 years behind developed nations !
Anyone know if this track is still being used at all? Its still there, in very good condition. But all the times I visited Chilliwack area I never saw it being used there. Granted, I was only visiting my brother, I wasn't living there full time. It would be awesome for the lower mainland highway traffic if there were commuter trains back in full service.
2:53 I'm pretty sure this big white building is still there. Someone lives in it. I remember about 10 years ago getting yelled at from the resident to move along after parking in their driveway for a few minutes. We'd heard it was haunted 😂 and there was a creepy mannequin in the window.
I like when he says "station".. and it's a little wood shack. Like something used to be for bus shelters when I was a kid. You know what? I wish I could time warp myself back there. I'd buy me a house for 10k and just live decent, away and safe from all the insanity and misery of today! Seriously. Where is my time machine, dang it!
This entire film should be professionally restored.

once in an eternity...they call those times the calm before the storm
Great history footage 👏 nicely done and great story about Sumas
Remember traveling this train from New Westminster to Chilliwack to see my Moms relatives in the 1950's.
Wish it would be available in these days as most of my relatives still live in Chilliwack and I in South Surrey.
Wow, the old Paramount Theatre! Such a shame it was torn down, a very iconic piece of Chilliwack history..
I really enjoyed watching movies there.

I love how the last clip, the resolution is so low that you can’t see the tracks in the street, so it looks like the train just goes rogue at the end.
I was born in Chilliwack in 1950, this video was a step back in time for me, I recognize everything on Yale road. good job.

wow thanks soooooomuch for catching all this, i love it
This is really something, I wanna almost do a transition video to show where these were taken and to show how much has changed.
Most enjoyable! My grandfather was head painter for BC Electric. Thanks so much.
amazing thank you for uploading this. great to see where Vancouver came from

At 12:17 "There's the CN Tower". It sure grew a lot taller after they moved it to Toronto.

just thy dont want oil companies to loose money......... simple....... vry simple......
12:16 the CN Tower sure looks different now compared to then
Great vedio and narration
Makes me hate the community a little less. Beautiful video!
It was so cute!
Whoa. I recognized line frontage past the Vedder Mountain pump station.
Concluded I need to use Google Earth again to study portions of the line
The Transit Museum Society has this video for sale. It includes other lines from Vancouver and Burnaby. 2 hours. Trams.ca
I have it , it's a great video :)

It is now owned by the Southern Railway of BC. Not sure how often it is used but CN interchanges cars with them at Chilliwack on occasion.

Narrator: Frank Horne. RIP, Frank
At 16:08 the building is now the Salvation Army Thrift store.
I live in Chilliwack and I hardly recognize the city from today .
I grew up in the Lower Mainland and it's astounding the rate of development and how much open space there was around 1950
Hey, where did you get this footage from? Do you know who digitized it? Excellent resource, thank you!
