The display on the P1-M IS tiltable. The pegs go into the holes, magnets hold them in place and then you can pivot it forwards and backwards. Works pretty well.
Great video and feedback, Barry! Thank you. As someone else noted, the screen actually can be tilted.. it's pretty stiff (for the reasons you mentioned).
I still have the iCon QCon Pro X and I love it. Not really feeling the need to upgrade at this time. Mine is definitely bigger and not really made to have directly in front of me on my desk, only downside for me.
If you press stop twice in a row (in cubase) you will return to the point at which you pressed play. It’s not necessarily return to zero unless you were at zero when you pressed play but hopefully that helps a bit
@03:02 it has already. Cubase, since 12..... the function is "Midi Remote" and you can program in any controller whatever you want and very easy. . . also, you can create as many "pages" as you want in any controller. . . .
Im about to upgrade the quality of my videos so your video was perfect timing? What is the reason to record into daw while recording video or while going live? I see a few youtubers daw in the back recording as they talk and didnt know why you needed to record in your daw your audio… Help me out my man lol
@Barry John I have a question I am a beat maker. I do not record vocals nor do I use any outboard or hardware gear. I’m strictly in the box using VST plug-ins to make beats. I only use headphones and I’m using a focus right Scarlet 2i2 GEN one interface I want to upgrade to the Babyface Pro and I was wondering would that be too much of a interface just to make beats and should I go with something like the audient id 24 that’s a little more cheaper or something else along that price range or just stay with the focus right thank you
I know you asked Barry, but if I was you I would get the Presonus Quantum ES-4 USB-C or Presonus Quantum ES-2 USB-C audio interface. You also get a free copy of Presonus Studio One Pro 7 software with it. Which I think is the best DAW in the game🫵🏽✌🏾
I appreciate the feedback. I actually use studio one as my DAW. I was actually just looking at the quantum HD 2 but but I will definitely look into the ES series. I just want to upgrade to an interface that has great output sound quality and great drivers and stability for a long-term use.
Looks great but I'd spend the extra $300 for the Softube Console 1 Fader Mk III. As a Cubase user, the Softube Console 1 Fader Mk III integration is sweet.
The Softube Fader mkIII doesn't have a Transport, nor a Jog Wheel😢. They drop the ball on the new Fader. Now you still have to grab a mouse to push play, rewind, forward & stop. A jog wheel lets you maneuver throughout the session. I had the Fader mkIII, I sent it back and got the Behringer X-Touch Universal Control for $399.99. It does the exact same thing as the Fader mkIII, but does more
I need to purchase an interface.. I need to record drums. I have a windows system that's loaded. I use protools also.. I'm curious what you'd recommend..
I had too many issues with icon gear it would lock up or other issues spent over a month with support to no effect. It related to the Mackie and related software. It was frustrating. I the end I just used a more basic controller and a stream deck the stream deck did what the icon should of easy no issues at all and the screens where a lot better
some DAWs use HUI ,some use Mackie protocol , mackie has no options for plugin control , HUI does offer plugin support. ie. Reason studios uses mackie protocol, Samplitude uses HUI protocol ive used my qcon pro g2 in both thats how i figured it out.
I dont understand, why iCon every 1 or 2 years come up with a new design of Controller. I have buy 7 years ago a Main unit and i am still wait until i have enough money for to buy one or two satelites from my iCon Type of Controller for to have 16 or 24 Faders. But i am afraid until i will have the money together, the expansions of my Controller will be no more to get for to buy. Very bad this obsession with every year to pull out a new version, like by the stupid Apple iPhones, instead to maintain the Product and support it over years. The iCon QconProX i have buy 7 years ago is just what i wanted and its a very good Product, works perfect with Cubase together ! Why the heck iCon pull out constantly pull out new Stuff and why they discontinue what is realy the best Product???
I get your point but a lot of us watch Berry to hear his thoughts as I can look in google. Unless they are giving him some cash he is not here to help them sell. How s channel does a giving you his review.
@@brucehathcockmusic I believe they’re called J cuts in editing, where he can cut to the product while still talking about it. His video is about the product, which in itself will help sell it, even though that’s not the intention.
@ I agree with you I just don’t think it’s worth bothering him about it. I can look it up If I want to see it. He does show the gear some me times but I just didn’t feel it was something in this case to critique him on. Leaving comments is great for him though any way. I just feel like some times the RUclips community wants you to do more than you really should or need too. Just google it. And say thanks for the review B.
I talk about the points that matter, looking at bunch of pics means nothing. Just look it up. My channel may not be right for you, no hard feelings is you move on.
The P1-M is great to have, but if the software is only available for Mac and Windows, then I won't buy it. I like that it is small and compact which is what I want, but I want to be able to configure right from the hardware without the requirement of the software. I do want the option of motorized faders though, but in that case, I don't mind paying more just to have it so long as I can configure everything from the hardware itself.
Dont be fooled by a stupid touch screen you have to page to get to something there sould just be a button for. These controller's are an exercize of how to make something super cheap and charge more than far far better products like the Beheringer x touch that is well designed and has button, that are both much more expensive to produce and intuitive to use and give them a little touch screen and stupid unnessasary software that every other mackie control surface has a dedicated button for. Even the x touch is better in every way. And it had a nice scroll wheel. Ok rant over. Its just so many companies are tryimg to skimp on good hardwarenand make it up with mediocre s software thatbis always much worse than the hardware. I mention the x touch because its the only other controller in this pricepoint i have experience with, this and the eucon artist series.
Yea not everything is for everyone. If you like touch screens so much for control consider Touch DAW on an old tablet. I use it for Totalmix. If on PC make bonjour service in services properties be allowed to interact with the desktop. On mac it works fine.

Great video Sir! Next time make sure the gates threshold isn't set to high. keep it up
It’s was actually strip silence settings caught too late🤦♂️
Thank you for your honest review!
Clicked on your link to sweetwater, searched for icon pro audio and they said their not a dealer of that brand lol Typo?
Looking forward to the V1-M review, curious how the 2nd scribble strips are implemented or if they are just ignored by most DAW's.
I still have the iCon QCon Pro X and I love it. Not really feeling the need to upgrade at this time. Mine is definitely bigger and not really made to have directly in front of me on my desk, only downside for me.
Thx for your time Barry
You totally rock 🎸🎸🎸

That period return to zero short cut maybe a comma if it is a language barrier.
Just a guess
With EuCon you can use an AVID control surface with any Eucon enabled software. Logic and Nuendo work with it.
I said not all DAW’s. I used it with Nuendo and it was great! Only thing that drives me nuts is the loss of iPad connection at the worst times.
@03:02 it has already. Cubase, since 12..... the function is "Midi Remote" and you can program in any controller whatever you want and very easy. . . also, you can create as many "pages" as you want in any controller. . . .
I looked for this on Nuendo 13 and we don't have it yet. The old system from Nuendo 2 is still in Nuendo 13.

@@DaMixWizard Loupedeck CT = solution. The X-Touch doesn't do what I love about the Console Fader....but ENJOY !!
It Sucks That Sweetwater dose not Have Icon Pro Audio Stuff
Can the P1 m use macros for simultaneous commands?
Not that I know of

barry i love you to death. i do eand i work.....when did any company write a manual that made sense
I can't stop laughing! did he say cold in the 60s? 😄🤣
Yea I know, I was making fun of myself, but sadly it’s true🤦♂️😜
would u be down to work with me to help rewrite the mackie control protocol? i think i could do
That’s over my head
My Icon qcon Pro x still doesn't fully work with reaper. It's missing the time counter which just remains blank.
from a Google search
It’s likely because the counter isn’t properly assigned on your device.
HHAHA...Barry recording hot!...makes me feel better
Return to zero is a double tap on the stop button on Icon controllers.
We have 26 degrees right now here in Memphis and feels like 7
In my town we have 38..... Celsius today.
I’m such a wimp🤦♂️😎
4:18 i furk with that barry i will be buy soon as i order console help a small business out

I’ve used lots of Mackie control surfaces including this unit and it controls plugins very well.
Barry... you didn't show the unit
You can easily google the unit to see it in greater detail, I focus more on how well does it work. Makes sense?
still sounds hot and harsh.
akkhhh that noisegate
It wasn’t that, it was strip silence that became my demise. Sorry, I could t go back and fix it as the file got corrupted.

Your gate settings made this a little hard to listen to. Cool looking controller though! Thanks for the video!
Pro Tools connected with my Platform Nano maybe 10% of the time. Protocol is terrible
I’d prefer hot over gate any day
Weird company - never responds to anyone, and lots of issues from what people said on my channel. In theory great....
Instead of showing yourself the whole time, how about show the product? Too much talking.

I am unaware of any popular control surface today that does not require an app in the background. SSL, Avid, Softube…..Keep that in mind.
