  • "Today's boat project had us tackling the fuel tank mystery. Unsure of how long it sat untouched, we opted for a fresh start with new petrol. Emptying a full tank was no small feat, and disposing of the liquid gold added its own challenges. After refilling with new fuel, we encountered more unexpected issues. Maybe I missed this but why did you need to remove the fuel?
My boat is currently full up with 220Ltrs of petrol and probably won't move off my driveway until April but this is only because I had the money to fill it up which was £335. I always fill it up whenever I can afford it 😂

Hey, I only changed the fuel as I was unsure how long the boat had been stood, I was told 12 months but because I was not sure and if it was E10 it doesn’t have a long life span, so with her being a project I thought I would start from the beginning and eliminate fuel problems. I have came across even more problems today so it definitely gets worse 🤣 if you leaving your boat stood until April just pop in some fuel treatment and it will be fine

@@BoatzUK Fair enough. I would have used yours with the fuel in because it ran but just taken a can out with me, worst case you could have dropped the line in the can to get back in.
I have never had any issues with fuel and don't use any treatment, it's simply never a problem over 5 or 6 months.
That being said I don't use E10, I use Esso E5 but I'm told it actually has no ethanol in it, but I don't know that for sure.
My Volvo 5.8fi engine is injected and 30 years old, Volvo Penta specifically say don't run it on E10.
Best of luck with the boat, I'm sure it will be great

@@fat_tommo_goes_boating E5 is perfect and won’t be a problem, and I kinda wished I left the fuel in the tank now as it was running great after I give her a service today, but oil that was in her looks very suspect, and there was way to much oil in the sump, like double the amount, so I think there is bigger issues but I will learn more tomorrow 😎

@@BoatzUK hopefully some wally just overfilled it with oil.
With my boat the level is different afloat compared to on the trailer but not by more that half a litre

@@fat_tommo_goes_boating I am hoping so, I will have another video soon on what I have found but it’s definitely a ongoing project. Thanks for your comments as it’s great to have some ideas when your diving into a boat with no known history. 😎
