Great Spirit Bluff Falcon Cam ~ Carson Falls From Nest Box Perch!!! 6.11.19

- This afternoon, Caron was out exploring the perch and ledge. Newman flies in and lands on the ledge perch and he moves closer to Carson briefly before leaving. Carson is looking out over his shoulder when he loses his balance and slips off the perch and drops 200 feet to some bushes below the nest. Carson has been spotted in the foliage below the nest and heard. Both Newman and Michelle are watching out for him as they did for Hamilton and Burr-D when they both fell out of the nest box in 2017. It took them over a week to be able to fly and return back up the nest so hopefully Carson will be able to do the same (You can check my playlist for GSB 2017 to see all the video on that season!) Thank you for watching!

Update: Carson does survive the fall and both Michelle and Newman took care of him for 16 days on the ground or on a low shrub tree. Carson will fly back up the cliffs and return fully feathered and looking great! He is now flying around and has learned to take prey from the parents in mid air!!
Stay safe Carson and Godspeed!
im glad hes ok ;n;
glad to hear
Great sir
The nest was built the wrong way, they made no plan for the chick young mind.
So glad to hear your words he.s OK 💞🌹🌹🌹
I was so glad to see him move. Thank you LadyHawk 💞
Your felkon Series are fantastic !!!! Interesting also! !!!
great movie congratulations and best regards
Good news that Carson is below the nest and the parents know where he is probably. They are well trained on raising early fledglings so hopefully Carson will do well with their guidance.
A proud day for Mom & Dad, seeing their young bird fledge!
I hope that nest box got upgraded to prevent these future issues. Leaving a tiny gap like that where the baby got her leg stuck is an oversight that should've been addressed early on when setting up that nest box.
I am so happy for him
Boy oh boy thanks for the update it was driving me nuts to many babies falling
I would modify that box , put a platform were that dowel perch is , and raise the perch just above that ! ....................... Carson you're a very noughty boy !
Nice video 😍 god job sucses full to you 👍👍👍 good luck to you and thanks to your sharing ❤❤❤💛💛💛💖💖💖
Heartbreaking
poor little thing :( glad to hear he’s been spotted and seems okay.
looks like they’re bothered by flies/gnats, just like the Decorah eagles. you can see Mama shaking her head over and over. the little one shook his head a few times before he fell. maybe that caused him to lose balance?
msbadkittie yup ur so right that’s what’s going on did u see the Decorah Eaglets they are in bad shape thank god they are rehabilitating them
It's about time this nest was made better for the Falcons how many more times do we have to see chicks falling so far I'm just thankful Carson is still alive
Do you have the one from 2013 when all 4 fludged the same day
Didn't a large owl kill one of the other young falcons? When that happens the survivor sometimes responds by getting out before it returns.
Yes a GHO came to the nest box and killed Kira the female. Michelle came flying in and took on the GHO in a very heroic way. ruclips.net/video/ddP1FEJo3-k/видео.html
Oh my came here by accident. Just left the saw Florida eagle cam. After seeing this I will never again say free as a bird. Nothing easy for them.
What happened to the air circulation system that was installed last year(or was it the year before)? I remember when this happened to Max a few years back.
It is circulating in the nest box - you can see the ventalaion on the right, The black flies infestation is one of the worst seen so far!
@@ladyhawkЗдравствуйте! эти птенцы что упали, погибли?
@@ladyhawk why was there an air circulation system installed?
You can see Carson on the ground In all that brush. I don't no how he is going to get out. Lady Hawk isn't this when ,I don't no the name but the forestry people come in to help?
I'm just a silly human but I find this extremely frustrating. I feel as though I've seen a lot of these "falls" this year. Any idea what a typical ratio of premature "falls" is?
SharAnese - I'm still new to Eagles and now this - very new - several eagle nests have had eaglet falls this year. I wonder if it's normal?. - Stephanie
StarAnyse yup I said the same thing I don’t care for this set up at all every year it seems like the babies always fall out of get attacked it’s so sad 😞
That's how they do it. Watch owl nests. The owlets almost always cannon ball down to ground level, then hike up into the trees where the parent birds will find them at feeding time. Eagles, osprey, hawks and others do the same thing. The baby birds are fine. The adults take care of them. So the falls aren't "premature" - they happen whenever the kids venture out of the nest. Unlike "millennials", young Peregrines don't return home to live in their mom's basement - they actually grow up and leave to live adult lives.
Please upload the next video
Omg this baby is gorgeous. Those colors. Definitely not a safe box. That other big bird knew it was not suppose to be there on that perch. Sorry it died. ❣
Hi Linda Carson does survive the fall and both Michelle and Newman took care of him for 16 days on the ground or on a low shrub tree. Carson will fly back up the cliffs and return fully feathered and looking great!
@@ladyhawk oh wow! Awesome for the little fellow. Animals are definitely amazing. Stay safe ❣
Precocious stoop!
Does it look like Michelle was trying to brood Kira? I’m surprised she didn’t pull him in like she has before.
Yesterday she got a mouth full of fluff trying that very thing. She is actually trying to pick off all the black flies from Kira's body.
Yes MIchelle is brooding and picking the black flies off of KIra - bless her heart. She also attempted to feed Kira :(
insects problem again?
after this?
is he ok?
¿Qué tiene de malo esa caja nido que convierte a los polluelos en suicidas?
Gracias y un saludo
I've always thought that these nest boxes were poorly designed.
In the natural world falcons prefer to nest on open rock ledges situated on high cliffs. All they do for a "nest" is make a shallow scrape in the dirt and gravel on the ledge and that's their nursery, completely exposed to the elements and no high barricade around the nest area to pen in the chicks. So this nest box at Spirit Bluff is actually quite safe and luxurious by Peregrine standards.
They nest in all sorts of ledge sites, most have insects too. Not all babies survive. This is natural selection at work. Hard to watch but the work of Mother Nature.
@@DoubleDogDare54 I understand that. And if people wouldn't have done anything about the declining Peregrine population they'd probably be extinct in America by now. If you're gonna do something with such a purpose then it should be done right.
@gabriel gervais worked to bring back back condors and eagles.
@@austin1839 Doing that could have an adverse effect though. Humans function very differently from most animals; with our intelligence we greatly alter our environments to suit our needs, the vast majority of animals dont do that. Making nesting areas that are radically different from those they're use to could result in...
A. them avoiding those nesting areas and thus do next to nothing to prevent animals we're trying to conserve from going extinct.
B. Confusing animals that are raising their young and the young that are being raised. Huge aspects of various bird's nesting habits are heavily influenced by their evolution both physiologically and psychologically, and trying to force a change for the immediate idea of helping them can inadvertently harm them.
Its better for them, to just give a little nudge to help out, instead of changing their circumstances to what we Think is best for them.
Poor design of the nest box ! Needs to mimic a rock ledge more. Needs a larger area out front for fledglings.
Yikes! Lord knows what he was doing out there! His legs aren't strong enough yet to stand up.
What happened next
What is the depth? What is the width?
Not a good box for them. I think we should stop making those boxes. If you make them make a taller wall do they don't wandered. Are the babies ok? Did anyone pick him up?
Scroll down to Kiara Zocco's Bonnie Girl comment where Lady Hawk responds saying Carson was tended to for 16 days on the ground and 'was flying around'. {Might be advantageous if this update was placed in the initial explanation box}
Hello Terri thank you for the suggestion I pinned the update to the top of the comments suggestion!
What happened next?
I didn't watch these falcons, but because of SW eagle these old videos are popping up. This nest has lots of problems 😱
Yes. Next is not safe
Czy przeżył?🤔
Man-made calamity by changing their natural nest
too much comfortable !
I think the bugs were bothering the chicks,so he went outside
La caja está mal diseñada, le quitaron la pared vertical de adelante solo para poder grabar a los polluelos, debieron haber cerrado toda, y conformarse con tomas menos abiertas. La persona que hizo esta caja para grabar lo asesinó, así de simple.
Will some one tell ? Was that cute bird safe till end...
He survived! Thats one of the reasons why there are cams available on specific locations
1:30 the time the parent gave an example how to flap its wings
Ole....!!
Thats a long drop.
Owww oh my god.
Because of nest design
А далі що було??
З такої "хатки" всі випадатимуть((
survived that fall? the one who is going to live will.
I'm ready I'm ready I'm ready
I'm not ready

This box is incorrect made ,the claw can't hang the Falcon
It proves that best construction is wrong.
Did it die? damn
No, hes in bushes under the nest
@@sherrivansyckel7527 good!
Poor little guy. Those horrible insects
did Carson ever make it back? awwww!
And THAT is the reason why there exists the term "birdbrain". ;)

one flew over the cookoo nest
I am thinking we may not build artificial nest like that
Poor thing! He's too young to fledge. Can anyone get him and put him back in the nest box?
While Carson may be young, the falcons grow up quickly. Michelle and Newman know where Carson is and will take care of him. If he was put back in the nest box, he would likely fall out again. Two years ago, both chicks (Hamilton and Burr-D) fell out and were raised on the ground for 15 days until they were old enough to fledge! Hopefully this will be the same with Carson!
@@ladyhawk Yes! What a year that was! I still remember early in the morning listening for them to be sure they were ok. I feel confident they will care for him. Once he settles in and gets really hungry, he will be screaming loudly.
First of all....how did they put the box up up there???
in a similar fashion to how mountain climbers climb mountains
Badly designed for falcons. Way too slippery material, that branch should not be there and to many places for young falcons to get to outside the actual nest area. Surely by now this has been realized that something is wrong compared to other artificial nest sites??
Ma come cavolo avete fatto questa casetta!!! Completamente sbagliata e pericolosa e si è visto!!!!!!!!
Why didn't their parents save them
when your tantrum goes wrong.
Ok poor little thing and all but you have to give it to them. Birds are great on the no #$@ given look when something like this happens.
Obviously that nest is not safe 😭 specially the bars from a outside 🤦🏻♂️
Is he still ok?
Fuck you !asshole ,sick lot of Racists stooges!

Pienso que se sale del nido porque esta siendo picoteando por su progenitor, de echo el pollo que está dentro parece estar muerto.

A net below nest could have helped. Rest in peace the little baby.
Hi Van Carson did not die - he survived and about a week later was seen flying and even returned to his nest box to show us he was okay!!

неправильная конструкция гнездового ящика. Птенцу не за что даже зацепится, пока лапы еще слабые. Хотя бы астротурфом отделали бы кромки.

The person who designed and installed this nest, is a criminal!!!
A besta sem noção não fez um ninho p ave e sim fez uma armadilha.
This box is kind of useless where it is. It should be located much lower on the bluff
not the sharpest tool in the shed
Whoops!
