They expect her to follow the usual idol route, with cute or mellow songs, with cutesy gesture and dances. But Moona delivered something different, she's more like a real music artist than that of idol, from the music, and her dance choreography.

yeah, everyone has different charms and talents to entertain us viewers on stream in each of their own ways, so it's understandable why some of them were only given cutesy idol songs and basic dances, but for Moona (along with some others) performing on stage is mainly her specialty so it's easy to see how she's able to steal the show when these concerts happen.
When Moona eventually does a 3D live, she’s definitely going to rock it. I knew she was an amazing singer but seeing her up there was something else! I really hope we get see her perform in 3D with Suisei one day, that would be a really powerful combination.

What I find interesting is in JP member reaction so many of them refer her as an artist. This makes me think that Japan and Indonesia definition on Idol is a bit different, what JP sees as artist is what most people in Indonesia think as Idol. no, afaik artist is kinda different to idols. what Moona performed is more close to western music artist, with the song type and her dance being vastly different than that of an idol. Which is why not only JP members, but also JP audience also look to Moona as something similar to that of "western artist" type. I hope I explained it well xd
Yea probably it’s a given for JP expecting idols to sing upbeat pop or melancholy songs and baaam Moona delivers a complete set of RnB with sides of body waves. What is absolute is that she is a great performer and I can’t wait to see how her career grows as it is so interesting and fun to follow.
@@jeremyg2236 Actually that is what I am trying to say. In Japan culture, Idol specifically give more energetic and cute vibe, they differentiate it from regular singer. Meanwhile in overseas or western the word Idol is for a generic use of entertainer mostly singer/dancer. And in Indonesia the word Idol itself hasn't widely used until the first Indonesian idol is held in 2004. Then we adopt the western definition of Idol that mostly gives a "cool" vibes instead of "cute" vibe.
Moonas performance blew me away. High Tide is such a cool song to perform on the stage, she has the aura of a superstar! I already liked High Tide before but this live performance made it my current favourite hololive original song!

U know that in countries with massive idol culture like jp and sk theres something like a hierarchy (not quite but smth like that). People always look down on idol cuz they are on some niche genre different than artist who is appreaciated by the general public for their craft. A singer is an artist but an idol is not even a singer although they both sing. So yea kinda confusing but thats the general gist. Artist is on a different scale than idol according to them.

This makes me think that Japan and Indonesia definition on Idol is a bit different, what JP sees as artist is what most people in Indonesia think as Idol.

no, afaik artist is kinda different to idols. what Moona performed is more close to western music artist, with the song type and her dance being vastly different than that of an idol. Which is why not only JP members, but also JP audience also look to Moona as something similar to that of "western artist" type. I hope I explained it well xd
Yea probably it’s a given for JP expecting idols to sing upbeat pop or melancholy songs and baaam Moona delivers a complete set of RnB with sides of body waves.
What is absolute is that she is a great performer and I can’t wait to see how her career grows as it is so interesting and fun to follow.

@@jeremyg2236 Actually that is what I am trying to say. In Japan culture, Idol specifically give more energetic and cute vibe, they differentiate it from regular singer. Meanwhile in overseas or western the word Idol is for a generic use of entertainer mostly singer/dancer.
And in Indonesia the word Idol itself hasn't widely used until the first Indonesian idol is held in 2004. Then we adopt the western definition of Idol that mostly gives a "cool" vibes instead of "cute" vibe.
Moonas performance blew me away. High Tide is such a cool song to perform on the stage, she has the aura of a superstar! I already liked High Tide before but this live performance made it my current favourite hololive original song!

U know that in countries with massive idol culture like jp and sk theres something like a hierarchy (not quite but smth like that). People always look down on idol cuz they are on some niche genre different than artist who is appreaciated by the general public for their craft. A singer is an artist but an idol is not even a singer although they both sing. So yea kinda confusing but thats the general gist. Artist is on a different scale than idol according to them.
