The noodley feeling of the maxxis tires and the feeling of slowing down in rock gardens and similar sections of trail (like descriped in the video) are the reason why I'm not riding maxxis anymore.
One of my questions is, are the scores considered universal or would they vary by terrain. For instance, I ride in the PNW where it is often damp or wet (not often real muddy) with lots of wet roots rocks for much of the year compared to a more dry, dusty and loose region? I know my tires behave different in my local conditions compared to different soil compositions elsewhere. I normally run an Assegai MaxxGrip up front and have tried the Vittoria Mazza and the AM2, but did not like them quite as much and went back to the Assegai. Thinking I may try the Kryptotal next once my current tires wear out a bit more. My buddy has been running the Vee's and seems to like them a lot so far.
I LOVE this tire video series. But why does no comprehensive tire chart/spreadsheet exists that says "if you like tire 'x' (insert tire brand and model name), then you may also like tire 'y' (insert tire brand and model name) of a similar tread pattern and performance?" I appreciate there are various compound differences, but surely that information could be highlighted as appropriate. Seems to me it would significantly encourage people to try different tire manufacturers and compounds, rather than just as in most cases simply stick with the ones they bought their bike with.
i'm an ass guy at the front but not rear. DHR 2 at the rear, both DH casing for bike park. I only chose this setup because everyone else has it...too lazy to experiment with different setups
Iv'e been a double ass man since last season, been liking how the rear can dig into corners. However just ordered a set of Conti Krypto's to see if they'll be a bit better rolling, we'll see if I miss my asses.
I have sofar.... DHF 2.6 exo+ front and DHRII 2.5 DD rear, both terra for my urban areas and now I'm getting a 2.4 DHR DH terra rear and probably a assguy 2.5 or another Dhf in DD maxx for bikieparks....or should get the terra in that too?🤷🏽♂️...have no idea really, I just ride down stairs in the city mainly...
Finally a series of tire comparisons
Yes I love these series
Assegais are on the front of all three of my bikes and also on the rear of my downhill bike. I'm a fan
