How to change a British driving license to a Spanish one. (Pre-Brexit)

Remember to have all of your documents with you.
Both parts of your British license. If you've lost either part you'll have to go to the police station, report it as stolen and they will give you a paper that states you don't have it and then you can proceed with your application.
Two photos. May only be one but I always recommend two just in case. Use a booth or photo shop in town.
Your NIE, passport and residencia. Make sure all are up to date.
If you can't get an appointment with the traffic office in your city I would highly recommend that you go to a gestor who will send off all the paperwork for you. It's pricey but worth it in my opinion.

Hello do you have an update on whether UK Driving Licence holders can still exchange our UK Driving Licences for Spanish ones or do we now have to take a Spanish Driving Test? Thank you ☺

I’m not sure but as far as I am aware you would now have to pass a Spanish driving test. Might be worth contacting the embassy for some guidance.

You’ll have to go through the process which is pretty much the same as the UK. Medical, theory test and then practical exam. In some centres you can ask to take the theory test in English I believe if you’re not yet at the language level necessary to do it.
My advice is to do your exam at rush hour - you’ll spend the majority of it sitting in traffic!

gloyub I would say it depends on the area. In a city or an area with a large British immigrant population you might have some joy but In the smaller towns I doubt it. I think if you brush up on the necessary vocabulary for driving you won’t have too many problems. Directions and basic instructions etc.

The date of issue in Spain. My British license was dated 2010 but when I changed to Spain it is now valid from 2019 - 2029.

You retain the paper part of your license so you can prove that you passed on a certain date.
