+BodybuildingRev si estaria bien pero pongan ejercicios de calistenia, como la muscle up, solo ponen ejercicios que benefician al contrario, la muscle up unas 15 haber si si es cierto que muy pros
That’s Cause whether you like it or not the calisthenics guy obviously did some training with deadlift. You can’t rep 315 20 times with no deadlift training. I doubt the power lifter does any calisthenics tho
So, let's say they both trained those exercises for 2 months before. They're all weighted... and Kora weighs about 9kg (20lbs) more than Matthias. And they have similar bodytypes... the 20lbs is muscle. Even with that, and the judging being in favor of the one who goes to the gym instead of the street and parks (as it usually is for strength wars) Matthias came very close to beating Kora. The point in the end is that for upper body workouts. Calisthenics will get you more strength per pound of muscle, and gym workouts will get you bigger, and therefore stronger, but not as strong per pound. If you wanna just call BS... In calisthenics you are using your bodyweight, so your body adapts and doesn't grow as much so it is easier to move yourself. When lifting weights, the body doesn't care how big it gets, as long as it can lift the necessary weight.
Have you watched any of the other videos ? Where powerlifters were competing against guys like this one and they were doing pull ups and dips ? The concept for these videos is good but the balance in exercises is terrible and one side always has an advantage
Calisthenics wins 100% ... the calisthenic guy is 9kg lighter and he have the same strength...was a unfair battle, the participants need to be in the same weight.
And Matthias almost took it regardless. (They didn't count one of his clean-squats, so he was only 3 behind… and they did count a lot of Koray's "chin ups" that really shouldn't have been counted…)
Jimboaxle So in the end, Mathias loses by 3 reps. Big fuckin woop lol, 3 reps. Mathias doesn't spend a penny on gym memberships. He does all of his natural training on bars and with his own body weight. Whereas the other guy has personal trainers, all sorts of supplemental drinks and pills, and spends his entire day and tons of money at the gym. Mathias wins in my book. And no, i don't do calisthenics and im not being biased.
+x2eXu50x And the powerlifter probably couldn't even complete one advanced calisthenics move, which is likely why they didn't have any in the competition.
challisthenics one won for me. 1) the 2/3 exercises where for gym guys, only 1/3 was challisthenics. 2) he did the pull ups way cleaner 3) they had 10kg deference.
+Harry wilkinson What the calisthenics guy do when doing "pull ups"? Maybe PULLING UP his weight+any external weight he wants? A weightlifting competition is the only way to make it an exclusive strength competition. Levers, Flags, even Muscle Ups are much more about technique than raw strength.
+Lucas Freire more about technique than strength? I'm sorry, but you're wrong in that regard. calisthenics is about muscular endurance, the ability to move your own bodyweight for extended periods of time. levers and flags aren't just technique like shooting a bow and arrow or dribbling a basketball, they're about muscles being able to hold a strenuous position for a long time. weight lifting is about your muscles working heavily for short periods of time, then giving them rest before exerting them again. The muscle that body building gives you isn't suitable for calisthenics, I would know, I switched from weight lifting to calisthenics about two years ago, it was an incredibly hard transition at first because I wasn't used to doing those kinds of movements. Once my muscles changed themselves to be lighter and stronger pound for pound, I made progress.
+Oxideist AGR Excuse me but drawing and holding a bow and arrow isn't about technique either, its about your muscular endurance. Aiming and releasing is where technique come into play:).
nah.. this is quite fair.. both are not weightlifter. one powerlifter and one calisthenics.. so the challenge is 1 powerlifting move (deadlift), 1 chalisthenic (weighted pull ups) and 1 classic weightlifting and conditioning exercise (clean).
Thats not fair they did one calisthenics exercise (pull us) and 2 weight lifting exercises like calisthenic pelple dont do dead lifts or weighted weird squats
@@TooSlipperyBaby Thats because the big guy couldn't do any of them. If they put any of the real ones in he would get stuck. Muscle ups, pistol sqauts, L sits. Take your pick they would have crushed him.
Hello everyone, its me, Matthias! Thank you very much for all the support, now some statements from myself conserning the competition: - first, big THANKS to @BodybuildingRev for making this happen, it was a great opportunity for Koray and me to compete against each other and to get to know each other - all my respect to Koray, really strong, humble and good competitor - I agreed to the exercises, yes I train legs, I also use weights, everyone should who wants to be more complete. There was nothing unfair about it. - For the cleans in the end, I just was too dead, also mentally, it was really tough!! - Strengthwars is still young and like any Sport and Events will evolve an get better, so to everyone, please keep the critics positive, its a great thing, they do! - this battle was very close, so nothing unfair about it, I enjoyed the challenge - last but not least: NEVER BE A KEYBOARD WARRIOR AND STAY OPEN MINDED; FIRST THINK THEN TYPE;) All the best, Matthias
Well, Matthias had the cute, petite blonde cheering him on, while Koray had the saucy, ripped blonde cheering him on. I'd call that a draw! But then again, the petite blonde was probably his girlfriend, while the ripped blonde was most likely just another personal trainer. Poor Koray.
I think bigger muscles do give more strenght. If You're training for some months and get bigger muscles, You also get stronger. But that doesn't mean that You can not get stronger without getting bigger muscles. It also does not mean, that someone with bigger muscles is always stronger than someone with smaller ones.
But the calisthenics guy have the maximum of calisthenics body look like. If you train in the gym you can be Phil Heat not 50 kg guy who things he have muscles.
Even to a novice like myself this is a one sided event. The 10kg weight advantage and two workouts favouring the power builder. This challenge has made up my mind to switch to calisthenics training... training with a smile.
No hate, but, did the powerlifter guy even do a single PROPER pull-up rep(as far as I know, his form was just horrible)? Props to calisthenics guy though for the close fight, even if they did 2 powerlifting out of 3 exercises.
HAMPI I'm gonna quote what you said. " Look at the previous comments. I just pointed out that all of the exercises aren't bodybuilder exercises 'cuz the guy above me pointed out that they were, in fact, all bodybuilder exercises." Again, "pointed out that all of the exercises aren't bodybuilder exercises" means that none of the exercises are bodybuilding exercises. Don't know if English is your first language, but when you say it like that, it means none of them were bodybuilding routine.
Yes. One workout was pull ups. The other two were power lifts. 2 > 1. Two power lifts vs. one calisthenic workout. Obviously favoring power lifter. In fact, virtually all of Strength Wars does that whenever calisthenics is involved. They always end up favoring whatever the opponent specializes in.
+AlmightyPullout 300 To get a body like that it takes at least 5 years. If you can get that in 1-2 years, your not human. He probably started working out at around 15.
I love how for their intros the calisthenics guy was all positivity and smiles and the weightlifter was trying to look like such a badass lmao. What a tool
I am a powerlifter and I have to say that the calisthenics guy was awesome, he came so close to the other guy when he had a 9kg weight disadvantage and the exercises were closer to powerlifting (considering that deadlifts are a powerlifting movement and that the front squat is pretty close to back squats, while calisthenics athletes don't squat except for pistol squats)
Even a blind can see the calisthenic guy was the better one. Almost 10kg weight handicap and on top of that compete with weights in everything. And powerlifter crappy reps are counted. For different bodyweight, the weights used should be adjusted accordingly. U cant be using same weight for a 13years old vs 15years old do u?
In my opinion the calisthenic guy won, this is considering that he doesn't lift weights like the other guy, except for the weight of his own body. Now let's have a completion where the weightlifter is doing the type of stuff the other guy does. Who will win? Not the weightlifter, that's for sure.
MJ Quintana Muscle ups is not about raw classical strength. I see 55kg 14 year old boys performing that shit on my gym everyday, but fuck, they ain't strong. This is about lifting and stop bitching please, he knew which exercises he was going to do and he accepted it as he wanted to try himself in this kind of competition.
+Lakeey Key matthias used biceps on the pullups because he was pushing his body back during the pulup so WITH biceps he made it easyer . orey did clasic pullups with arms on the side and they are more difficult
This was so biased against the Calisthenics guy. They were counting the Powerlifter's chip up reps that weren't even reps. And miscounted Mathias' reps. AND the workouts favor the power lifter and he still almost lost lol

Whenever I go to Germany I'd love to hit you guys up and at least go see or compete in one video. You put up awesome content, keep it up and thanks, I talk about this channel with my friends, we all love what you do
+BodybuildingRev What about this challenge, you should use percentages of the bodyweight. Not 50 kg and 50 kg when there is a difference in the bodyweight of athletes, next time to something like this, : 25% of bodyweight added 20 pull ups, etc. this is more fair.
+aresman1234 Yeah, it's rly friggin cool, but what can we do, we have to judge it, cos they can't balance this very well. To make it more fair, do stuff outdoors where Calistetic have more chance. I read the guy was a killer at pull ups, but all 3 of them are powerlifter exercises. Just change it, do push ups, pull ups (no weights), and something semi endurance for legs, and powerlifter loses all 3
Calisthenics won .. because power building guy always lift .. so its unfair for Calisthenics guy . and however he did well even he's lighter than 10kg !
In bench competitions, the winner is the person that lifted the higher percentage to their body weight. If the competition used similar parameters, it might be a completely different ballgame. I'd also throw in another callisthenics exercise to provide a good comparison of their physical ability. Pushups would be an ideal choice, as would dips. But I suppose the channel was focused on lifting rather than bar and floor work.
I have never commented before but i had to say something because i thought this was completely biased and unfair. Calisthenics is exercise with your own body weight and aims towards body mastery. Powerlifiting is exactly as described, now i have tremendous respect for both athletes and know the dedication needed to achieve their level of fitness and strength. However having Dead lift and weighted squats is completely favorable to the Powerlifter. The powerlifter can lift heavier faster and this test was a test of that, i would like to see the powerlifter have a one armed pull up challenge or leg raises, handstand pushups etc. of coarse still make it fair by having tough exercises from both sports. All in all i think this made people who do not understand think calisthenics is weaker than powerlifting and yes in cases it is but it also is not, and yes this channel focuses on strength so i understand that perspective but it just annoyed me how unfair it was.
@@billastoriofkaferedaki im really sure that gym guy cant do 1 arm pull up, in other say like calisthenic guy can do it effortless. this competition have some bias

+Marek Volcek Yes. My suggestion: Squats, Pullups or deadlift, and Dips or Bench press in that order
+BodybuildingRev si estaria bien pero pongan ejercicios de calistenia, como la muscle up, solo ponen ejercicios que benefician al contrario, la muscle up unas 15 haber si si es cierto que muy pros
any competitions for smaller guys?
+BodybuildingRev please upload motivation videos and competition also!!
Calisthenics guys do power lifting but power lifter can't perform calisthenics 😎
But powerlifting is win☻
Power lifter just can’t do Calisthenics skill, but they can do bodyweight movement, those amazing skills take time to learn
That’s Cause whether you like it or not the calisthenics guy obviously did some training with deadlift. You can’t rep 315 20 times with no deadlift training. I doubt the power lifter does any calisthenics tho
That’s why i do both..
100% correct 😎😎😎 I am Calisthenic too.
not really a fair match up as two of the exercise were for powerbuilding not calisthenics
No. He decided go there to show off his strength. He was told the exercises and had time to train for them. It was a fair fight.
Ya that's exactly what I was telling my friend, I told him they should 50 push ups after the last one then we'll really see who has inner strength
True!
The majority of the pull ups from the power lifter were not clean reps
Yeah they gave him some freebies in my opinion.
But you've also to consider how wide his arms stretched out compared to his opponent.
@@jeannedarc6121 depends on how strong your muscles are in diversity.
@@jeannedarc6121 are you dumb?

Matthias was stronger, with perfect form and no bullshit reps
@Joe Rodriguez gains that has nothing to do once you get inside the octagon
@Joe Rodriguez You're tough guy bud, nice emojis did they teach you how to use that in your shitty Planet Fitness gym??
@Joe Rodriguez wanker
Mathias was stronger. Many of the pull ups from other guy should not have counted.
@Joe Rodriguez whatever helps you sleep at night
10 KG difference and 1 calisthenics exercise out of 3. As fair as it can gets.
it says something that all the exercises favored the bodybuilder and yet he still almost lost
Calisthenics wins 100% ... the calisthenic guy is 9kg lighter and he have the same strength...was a unfair battle, the participants need to be in the same weight.
He definitely doesn't have the same strength but he has more endurance, which he should.
And the PowerBuilder have steriods
Man, Calisthenics will always win! That's the point.

@Jan Schouteee Haha very funny
What if I go to gym and do calisthenics workout
Chutiya
the test was for bodybuilders. One calisthenic test, two weight lifting test. that was one sided test. so I disliked this.
And Matthias almost took it regardless. (They didn't count one of his clean-squats, so he was only 3 behind… and they did count a lot of Koray's "chin ups" that really shouldn't have been counted…)
B-boy Freso and koray had help getting his weighted belt on too. o think calisthenics wins this
Captain Tawsif I agree
I totally agree
Exacly. Nice to see that it still does great even if the bodybuilder is way favored
9:20 watch Mathias get cheated out of a rep? WTF?
Right they bogus
Yes he gets cheated out of the 11th clean squat!!! What a fraud, what a phony, what a travesty!!! What kind of competition is this??
+x2eXu50x Agreed.
Calisthenics won, look at the chin ups they counted for their guy
I agree with you but its pull ups not chin ups!
Pull ups hand outward still chin ups hand inward direction
But i agree with your idea
ok but the one guy who had wrong pull ups did it more wide like the other.
zdenka kováčová Wider is easier
challisthenics one won for me. 1) the 2/3 exercises where for gym guys, only 1/3 was challisthenics. 2) he did the pull ups way cleaner 3) they had 10kg deference.
isnt a weightlifting competition biassed towards a weightlifter?
+Harry wilkinson true
Exactly. Lets see that big guy do pistol squats, muscle ups, and such.
Weird squats? Wdym? The (shitty form) cleans?
That wasn’t even a calisthenic exercise because weights was involved.
@@TooSlipperyBaby
Thats because the big guy couldn't do any of them. If they put any of the real ones in he would get stuck.
Muscle ups, pistol sqauts, L sits. Take your pick they would have crushed him.
And they are not same weight. Bodybuilder is heavier
Hello everyone, its me, Matthias!
Thank you very much for all the support, now some statements from myself conserning the competition:
- first, big THANKS to @BodybuildingRev for making this happen, it was a great opportunity for Koray and me to compete against each other and to get to know each other
- all my respect to Koray, really strong, humble and good competitor
- I agreed to the exercises, yes I train legs, I also use weights, everyone should who wants to be more complete. There was nothing unfair about it.
- For the cleans in the end, I just was too dead, also mentally, it was really tough!!
- Strengthwars is still young and like any Sport and Events will evolve an get better, so to everyone, please keep the critics positive, its a great thing, they do!
- this battle was very close, so nothing unfair about it, I enjoyed the challenge
- last but not least: NEVER BE A KEYBOARD WARRIOR AND STAY OPEN MINDED; FIRST THINK THEN TYPE;)

Well, Matthias had the cute, petite blonde cheering him on, while Koray had the saucy, ripped blonde cheering him on. I'd call that a draw!
But then again, the petite blonde was probably his girlfriend, while the ripped blonde was most likely just another personal trainer.
Poor Koray.
Powerlifter is stronger than calisthenics athletes in powerlifting, what a surprise!
Power lifting is bullchit
More suprising is the fact that the calistenics guy was able to get that close.

Bigger muscles give no strength.
I think bigger muscles do give more strenght. If You're training for some months and get bigger muscles, You also get stronger. But that doesn't mean that You can not get stronger without getting bigger muscles. It also does not mean, that someone with bigger muscles is always stronger than someone with smaller ones.
The natural guy did every single pullup rep perfect. The other one did all wrong. In my eyes natural won.

yaa ur right there are all bodybuilding exercises
+HAMPI All of the exercises aren't bodybuilding exercises? Doesn't make sense, you said two of the exercises WERE bodybuilding ones.
HAMPI You said again that they *all* weren't bodybuilding exercises. Front squats, not a typical bodybuilder exercise?
HAMPI I'm gonna quote what you said.
"
Look at the previous comments. I just pointed out that all of the exercises aren't bodybuilder exercises 'cuz the guy above me pointed out that they were, in fact, all bodybuilder exercises."
Again, "pointed out that all of the exercises aren't bodybuilder exercises" means that none of the exercises are bodybuilding exercises. Don't know if English is your first language, but when you say it like that, it means none of them were bodybuilding routine.
He decided to go there to show off his strength. Hes was told the exercises and had time to train for them. Fair. Its still STRENGTH Wars ladies!!
Koray couldn't even do 5clean pull-ups and he won lol
His chin went over the bar max. 4 times. So he lost
@@Koliousoe that's gym workout, if he add calisthenics workout.. Koray wil lost a mile

Yes, by using a 1RM instead of all this high rep range stuff
+Turin Turambar I'm not saying he didn't, but the whole thing was power lifts for crying out loud.
Did you see them doing those pullups?

This match was on the weigh lifters side.

+aresman1234 Thanks a lot mate, your words mean a lot to us.

But power lifters generally do like 3 or 4 reps of super heavy weight. The endurance part played greatly into calisthenics guys hands.
I can't agree more.You've said it
