Carrick was so massively underrated. At United he was just sublime his passing his vision. He was like Scholes his ability to sit deep dictate play spray passes all over the pitch aswell as scoring a screamer or two. A real Rolls Royce type midfielder
Carrick is criminally underrated, he held United together in his later years. When he played he played well.
Even as a Liverpool supporter he was very underrated (to be fair, anyone would when you're in a midfield with Scholes and Giggs). I was at the legends match last year at Anfield and watching Alonso and Carrick in midfield was incredible even years after they've retired
@@fivestarman5130 Alonso was a class act for Liverpool. He was to Liverpool what Scholes & Carrick was to United the dictators the controllers the orchestras that made everything look simple but were vital cogs in midfield

Seen him at West ham as a kid .. with Joe cole who at that time was technically better skillful confident than lampard .. different than lampard and Carrick when Joe had the ball he wasn't going to do the easy safe pass he was going to try beat his man with skill and usually did wasn't as big as strong naturally athletic as other players.. he was a small still looked like a kid he was still a kid but with the ball at his feet you new he was gifted.. then going to see Defoe at rangers was 39 wouldn't touch the ball for 30min then boom get a chance and his finishing was still top class.. had lost his pace but give him the ball in the box he could still get a yard of space and bang one in.. great professional kept himself fit.. the opposite of Leon knight I remember him as a kid same kind of player as Defoe.. small but fast and a good goalscorer sure he ended up at Chelsea.. but wasn't like Defoe in that he had a bad attitude big ego didn't train hard to get better thought he was already world class he wasn't.. Defoe went to play on the EPL English international and played until he was about 40 .. Leon knight got released from Chelsea and became a journey man still scored some goals at clubs .. but could have been so much better if he was more mature and wanted to dedicate his life to football and getting to the top.. but when he was young boy coming up he was a natural goal scorer but with a bad attitude.. he could have played at the top had alot better Carrer than he did
Love the Fact JD finally won a title with the Famous Glasgow Rangers. He was such a popular player with the fans and his team mates and we let him leave to early.

Henry.... no words needed. Coming from a Chelsea fan since 1995. He's the only played who genuinely gave me fear when I saw his name on the teamsheet. Not even Cristiano or Messi gave me that feeling.

I think he falls into a very select group of players, those other 2 you mentioned and Carragher are in it as well. It's of players that are called underated so much and by so many, they are actually properly rated.

Not a Chelsea fan but lamps was one of the best players that used to make those late runs into the box or just pop up with a yard or two of space his awareness was do good hence why he scored so many goals

Lamps best quality was he was willing to hit the ball regardless of who was in front of him, or how the ball was set-up, he'd hit volleys, half volleys, one touch, first time to take advantage of the element of surprise. He also scored an absurd number of goals that took deflections, sometimes even tiny grazes that just carried the ball away, or went through crowds of defenders - and he put so much screw on the ball it would bend or curve unnaturally wrong footing keepers. You can't undervalue the willingness to have a go.
