Not to mention a serial entrepreneur doing gamedev... Every indie game I love to play has months to years of hard work put into it by diehard creators that love game design, art and balance. They also have the dedication to continue balance and updates for months years after launch. Think Spelunky, Stardew Valley, Minecraft, RimWorld etc. Now imagine if instead someone was set on making the next best thing and focused on the tech stack instead of an original concept and a compelling game... That's like making a movie and being focused on the specs of the camera... As a hardcore Pokemon fan I can't imagine how low quality and shitty the game is going to turn out. I thought your other projects were lit, but this aint it chief.
Tbh all of CS youtube is a shitshow. They all start with useful tech videos giving advice or tutorials (1), become bigger and quit their tech job to go full time on RUclips (2) and then start sponsors / make a product or course they're trying to sell (3) then finally continue pumping out random videos about literally anything to stay relevant. Ex. TechLead, Clement, Aaron Jack, Nick White, and a million smaller channels.
Ben is more of the silicon valley pretentious type of programmer, he's more like Techlead than Brackeys. Would be interesting to see the possible shift of attitude
Next month: "I've realized game dev just isn't for me. It was a fun experience, but its time to shift back to my other project. Now excuse me, I need to get back to my tik tok thirst trapping."
I love this channel. Simply because it gives me the confidence to abandon months of hard work on a whim to start a new project that I then will likely abandon after getting 90% of the way done.
What I love about your videos is how you explain clearly the way to make different architectures and stacks to work together. Can wait for the next video.
Hey Ben! you can use artificial life to evolve the monster using "Interactive evolutionary computation" then you will have a population of monsters created by users, consider this going toward in your project.
Will the users be responsible for drawing the artwork for all these creatures? If the answer is yes, what will the submission queue look like, and what will the design rules be? If no, how much do you think is a fair price in real-world currency for each creature, in order to commission the artist to draw each one?
How it should works: I found a problem --> I want to solve that problem --> I create a project/startup to solve it for the good of society Ben Awad: I want an unicorn company --> I desperately try to find a problem --> I start a project/startup
Bro new to the channel and i love it, but those starters should all be the same grammatically. I think adjectives work better, so it should be sad, angry and anxious, instead of anger. It just sounds weird to have some of them be nouns.. but very intrigued, good stuff.
Not yet, but that's likely to come. He has a concept and hype but zero gameplay, that only works for shitty crypto games since no one plays them to have fun anyway.
Hopefully the amount of interest in the project helps inspire you to ship something before moving on to your next one :^) Though to be fair with all of the art assets your partner has created and how enthusiastically you seemed about this one I feel like it's more special to you than your previous adventures. Best of luck, can't wait for more :)
Ben, how do you design/code such cool frontend so fast? I'd really love a video on your E2E development process and how long it takes for you to take a project from conception to launch.
omg cool!! i’ve been making video essays on games that utilize emotions as gameplay mechanics. can’t wait to see how this comes together!! also “nightmares” as a name might pull up results for Little Nightmares instead lol. voidpet is unique!
Ben why u have only 373k subs!! I'm really disappointed to see this but i am giving you surety of this that you are going to get 1M subs soon.Just keep it up love your content ❤
I have a theory, Ben acts like he's doing a startup but he's just actually giving attention to the "new startup" and then after a few days leaves the idea but now everybody knows about it also my bet is 5 days to quit this one
next month: "welp guys me leaking all my ideas and my ways to implement them have left other companies unfairly taking my ideas, game dev is not for me and i will be making a new startup which i will not be saying for now but will be saying like the next day"
Next month: I'm done with my game startup
wrong, teehee
It's good to hear a pitch about a future legacy code.
Let's pretend he's not gonna quit after a month
oh god, that's a good one 😂😂😂😂

Haha, you don't quite get what legacy means.
he can't quit, he has at least 800 to break even
This channel is turning into "what startup is Ben going to try to advertise to us next"
Still better than what his TikTok account has turned into

Yes, Ben is a gamedev now. This is what the gamedev community needed!
I need Ben.

It’s been two months now and there’s been a beta release of the game
I’m from the future
I love this channel. Simply because it gives me the confidence to abandon months of hard work on a whim to start a new project that I then will likely abandon after getting 90% of the way done.
How ben implemented himself into this game: adding his top three emotions of choice for how he feels about startups
I'm glad you're a gamedev now and will for sure 100% continue to be a gamedev at least until the game is finished, very cool.
Hahahhahhaha I love this!
Can't wait for Voidlog[-1] in two weeks
in 7 days: "Leaving void pet"

Too complex for a game man....
As long as they have a paragraph of backstory and are vaguely based on a real life animal.

My guy is back with another unicorn startup idea🤣
Going to the MoOoOoOoOoOoOn
next week: let's make those pet nft
im 99% sure ben is starting and ending startups every month for youtube content
How it should works:
I found a problem --> I want to solve that problem --> I create a project/startup to solve it for the good of society
Ben Awad:
I want an unicorn company --> I desperately try to find a problem --> I start a project/startup

Everybody gangster until Ben turns these into NFTs
No wonder Twilio cleared your debt, you basically found them a bug.
I think this is the project for you Ben
I have no doubt you're going to make something millions of people will use. Keep grinding and congrats on the success
The guys ability to keep a straight face
I love seeing you thrive ben! From one software boi to another, good job
Very cool, super interesting and I'm glad you're more nitty gritty about the coding details. It's an immense help for me.
I give this 1 month before it turns into an NFT project
At least those voidpets are not NFTs.

sad, angry, anxious. OR sadness, anger, anxiety. Mixing forms hurts my soul
Do live coding sessions on Twitch (or RUclips Live). Good way to market and build the game simultaneously.
damn i misread it as new patapon and got too excited
4:50 I assume that over 50% of people will choose anger because it sounds cooler than a sad or anxious monster.
How did I have no idea it was you behind this?!?!! I'm so excited oh my gosh
Good luck with Voidpets, Ben. It looks amazing.

A bit disheartening that trying to solve real world problems gets you nowhere, but creating emo NeoPets takes off like wildfire.
when did he try to solve real world problems?? When he wanted to create an App basically just for Logan Paul?
