New Samsung owner here I just bought the Note 8 last month, I went from iPhone SE to Note 8 The difference is huge literally, I don't know how I lived without it I love my new phone I probably won't be getting a new phone any time soon unless it's another Note!

You should upgrade if you have more money than sense, you're ludicrous if you need to upgrade a 4 month old phone. wait for the Note 9 it will have all those lovely new camera features and upgrades that you desire.
Yep. I once skipped the note 3 and bought the S5. I couldn't hold it any longer and just bought the Note 4, then replaced it again with Note 5. Currently using the Note 8. It's quiet a huge jump on its screen and camera. Will just wait for the Note 10
I missed the original Note and the Note 5 (because it had no SD card). I was going to try and boycott Samsung for how they treated us during the Note 7 fiasco. I had so much more help with Verizon than Samsung and ended up with a V20 as a replacement. It was a solid phone that I really liked, but it was missing one big item, the S Pen. It’s a game changer and until someone else comes out with competition the Notes are the best devices on the market. I do wish Samsung would come back with the original S Note app with Action Memo, Photo Note, Easy Chart, Idea Sketch, Sketchbook, etc. It’s so much better than Samsung Notes. Thankfully we are still able to side load it in its entirety.
I upgraded from note 1 (2012) to note 8 (2017)...yes I held on that long...i love the S pen, coupled with Swype, it makes doing personal blogs and texting so much faster and more natural than pushing buttons. All I did was upgraded my note 1's OS using custom ROM. Was supported up to android 5.1.1 then support stopped because the phone was too old. That's when I decided to upgrade the phone. Might not upgrade again until another decade... note 20?...LOL

I think a lot of people who have it don’t realize all of its capabilities. In addition, the people who have never used it think it’s a stylus and also don’t realize even less of its capabilities. While I have a lot of friends who use Skype, I didn’t like it as much as Gboard. But it is a good keyboard, I just like Gboard’s features that Swype doesn’t have. They’re probably the 2 best keyboards. Maybe you might be able to help me out. I haven’t been able to hold out as long as you have. I’ve actually owned several Notes and actually started with the Note 2. Besides the S Pen, I love the original S Note app. I don’t think there’s a better app out. Even though Samsung added it’s inferior Samsung Notes app, I managed to get the full original S Note app installed and working flawlessly until the other day. The OTA of Oreo came out for my carrier and I wasn’t going to update, but there were a couple a minor issues with my phone that I thought Oreo would be able to handle. The good news was I was right. Everything is running well. The bad news is my original S Note app was the price I paid. Luckily it wasn’t the whole app. I still have Action Memo which is my favorite working. As a matter of fact, I have virtually the whole thing. The 1 minor issue I have is Photo Note will only work in landscape and unfortunately I can’t get Easy Chart to install. Do you have the original S Note app installed and running on Oreo? If so or if not, do you have an suggestions or ideas that you could think of? I knew I was probably going to face the fact that S Note was going to end one day, but I was really hoping it wouldn’t have been this soon. I also was hoping that Samsung would wake up and realize what a gold mine they have. Even if they want to bring all of the features to Samsung Notes, I’m fine with that. I just can’t understand how they think this new app is approximately 8 apps rolled into 1, when it basically does nothing that S Note can do other than take Notes and do 3 “Actions”. Note 8 all the way! Owned it since Dec 2017. The S-Pen is in a Class of its own so very useful. It's sets this phone apart from any phone on the market now and in the future.
The S-pen is the biggest difference. But now the S9+ is better in every way now. And the camera now is also much sharper because of the changing apature. There's alot of small differences too such as horizontal home page, speakers, etc. It's basically a huge tease for the Note 9!
Went from s7+(edge) to Note 8. Wasn't all that in love with the squared corners and didn't think i'd use the S Pen but i use it all the time to write and use for finer control then my fingers, Definitely a Note convert. P.s can't go back to smaller screen size now either 😁 Be interested what the Note 9 and 10 bring.
I used to upgrade every year but now I only upgrade every 2 years I don't think they do enough to the spec to fork out big money. I have the note8 and can't live without the spen.

nah not worth the up grade imo, i think the s9 plus is slightly better than the not 8, not worth an upgrade tho, just wait for note 9, but i personally think its worht to upgrade from s8 to s9, only if you dont had the s8 from the day it was released.
People have these arguments year in year out. Should you upgrade. Shouldn't you. The truth is no one can tell you what you should do. All we can do is give you this answer. Is the new phone "better" than the old phone, even in the slightest, and the answer is yes the S9+ has improvements. So should you upgrade. If you want to do it, and you can afford it, just do it. If you want it get it. If you can't afford it. Simply hold off. Do what you want to do! If you WANT the newer and better phone, get the new and better phone. Don't let anyone tell you that you should or shouldn't upgrade it's YOUR CHOICE. BE YOU. MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS.

If you know Samsung, he does the same thing every year, so if you hold out until the note 9 comes out, it will be just like the s9+, the way I see it, the note 8 is just like the s8+, just with the pen.

I don't always use the S Pen, but when I do, it's very useful. I was once accidentaly dropped the Note 5 on marbles. The cracks were inside of its screen, so the touch screen got blue purple-ish and can't be used anymore. However, the S pen could still work properly and replace the finger's touch temporary. That was why I replace the Note 5 to Note 8. Actually Note 5 was still prety good daily beater if it weren't for the screen cracked and limited internal storage.
I hate people who buy a new phone every 5 to 6 months. Why waste so much money? People dont realize the resources our phone use. They dont want to know. Im devestated that i just cracked my s7 edge. I might get the new one or I might get another s7. It alot of people dont buy the s10 it will make samsung drop prices just like they did on the s9.
I have the note 4 and note 8. Now waiting to buy the note9. And i like the note 8 desing then the s8/s9 its toller and the sides (curves) not the edges but the 2 bottom the 2 upper on the screen are smaller.
Before even watching the video 📹 the answer is NO!! The S Pen is the main reason to even own a Note phone 📱. Going from a Note to any other phone 📱 is an automatic down grade if you actually USED the S Pen 🖋daily.

I'll only upgrade if they release the note 9 and if it really has more new or improved features than the note 8. If the note 9 disappoints, I'll then consider getting the note 10. Transferring from the note series to the s series? That's gonna be a downgrade, not an upgrade.
Honestly I skipped the note because of the size. These phones are getting to big and expensive. I have had every note and honestly miss my note 7 that was perfect.
The stereo speakers on the s9 line up is tempting though, gonna pay off my note 8 so I can keep it and get the coral blue s9 plus, like the note 8 because of the 6.3 inch screen, definitely looking forward to the note 9 though, if the s9 plus didn't have the stereo speakers, I probably wouldn't have any interest in that phone
One thing I'm not seeing anyone mention in the comments is phone values. What's going to happen to note 8 values once s9+ start delivering?? Sure, you lose s pen and 0.1 inch screen size but gain in EVERY other way. I'll probably get the note 9 when it comes out too. It's really all about software. Too bad the note line gets neglected in that regard. I'm still on 7.1.1!!!? That's stupid.

I’m satisfied with my Note 8 even after 10 years. Changing phones every year even if it’s still good is a bad practice.

The stereo speakers on the s9 line up is tempting though, gonna pay off my note 8 so I can keep it and get the coral blue s9 plus, like the note 8 because of the 6.3 inch screen, definitely looking forward to the note 9 though, if the s9 plus didn't have the stereo speakers, I probably wouldn't have any interest in that phone

One thing I'm not seeing anyone mention in the comments is phone values. What's going to happen to note 8 values once s9+ start delivering?? Sure, you lose s pen and 0.1 inch screen size but gain in EVERY other way. I'll probably get the note 9 when it comes out too. It's really all about software. Too bad the note line gets neglected in that regard. I'm still on 7.1.1!!!? That's stupid.
Guess what? I can see the next Iphone generation features on this phone. Yes, because Samsung is always two stepped ahead! Anyway i hope AR Moji will arrive in note 8 on the next update..
