- This song is undoubtedly a country classic, having been recorded by many artists including Andy Williams, Patsy Cline, George Jones, Johnny Tillotson, The Everly Brothers, Don Gibson, Gene Vincent, Emmylou Harris, Tony Booth, Ray Price and Rex Allen Jr. amongst others. It's a Carl Belew song who also wrote another of the all time great country songs 'Am I That Easy To Forget.'
This is Marty singing it on a TV show and it's a song that he never recorded so I hope y'all enjoy it.
*Heartbreak Hotel was down at the end of Lonely Street, but you don't need me to tell you that do you?! Видеоклипы
Gotta be one of the most beautifully sad 😢 songs I ever heard 👏🏻🥰‼️
Beautiful , Lonely street
💞🎼🎶🎹🎹Marty Robbins 💯
Thank You Tarquin
Totally haunting version of this this song, there will never another Marty Robbins!
Just wonderful as are all Marty records ,,,never sick of listening to Marty singing
my favorrite by Marty was I think his first big hit, A white sports coat.. but he always puts his heart into everything he does. rest in peace Marty...
My late Mama's favorite Marty Robbins and his awesome voice that makes any song better.
just love his voice
another song brought to life by the greatest voice ever loved marty robbins his voice still sends chills down my back love marty forever there will never be a singer like him
I totally agree. His voice was unigue and every syllable he sang was so heartfelt. He is unforgettable and I will love him forever also
never been a song that Martin's voice couldn't bring magic to
Jim Reeves almost recorded it on his last session on July 2, 1964. He had some time left over after back-to-back sessions that day. They needed one more song. But he couldn't remember the name of the song his secretary urged him to do. Chet Atkins called Jim's office and asked the lady if she could remember the title. Unfortunately, she couldn't. Had her memory not failed, the velvet voice of Gentleman Jim would have been applied to this great country song. Imagine that!
Great job...
Love ❤️ ❤❤❤
I have been a Marty Robbins fan since seeing him on American Bandstand singing "A White Sport Coat".. That was 55 years ago... One of my oldest friends who walked around with a copy of "Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs" until the album cover wore out and I greet each other on the phone with "Hey Marty"...
Any street
can be a lonely street.
I have said it many times that I prefer the songs that Marty wrote, but this recording is amazing.
A great version*****
What a breathtaking performance, I am speechless. Marty Robbins his music is timeless, he manages to mezmerize me time after time. With the heartbreaking emotion that he puts into his music. I am thankful, Tarquin, for the videos of Marty, that you are posting.

Marty was the best!!!!!
Along with the country's living legend George Jones.
oh nice tune
Who ever sings this it makes me cry! Not too many songs make me cry but this is one!
Andy Williams also sang the song Love Marty's music especially his ballads .
Barbara gray commenting: when I was performing this was one of my songs I always liked it and I think everyone else liked it also when I did it at least I hope they did. I sang this along with Marty and we phrased it the same way it's a very nice country song
lovely as usual tarquin. thanks for sharing
Fantastic love everything marty sings the greatest singer ever
My vote goes to Marty for any song that he ever recorded. Never heard anyone who could out sing him on anything.
I`m led to believe that this was a song that Jim reeves had in mind to record weeks before he was killed in the plane crash.Lovely song by marty. Thank you. KG.(UK).
Andy Williams had a hit with this in the 50s. Much better than this.
Miss you all Singers all of you bless you all God from Lod had gift ob s d as y ftom God
Don't thank me Persuvian, thank Marty Robbins! Seriously though, it's my pleasure to put these on even if sometimes the sound isn't too good, but that's kinda out of my control. Thanks for your kind words.
Ii love you love I am with you always my l you forver I live you
I have never heard this rendition before and thought it inferior. Then I read all the groovy cats diggin the sound and listened again. You are right, it is not as powerful as Andy but it has an uncanny warmth to it.
This song really belongs to Andy
....marty should have recorded in the studio...this is pretty...PS Tammy Wynette has a great version of this also...!
I'm looking for that lonely street
I've got a sad, sad tale to tell
I need a place to go and weep
Where's this place called "Lonely Street?"
A place where there's just loneliness
Where dim lights bring forgetfulness
Where broken dreams and mem'ries meet
Where's this place called "Lonely Street?"
Perhaps upon that lonely street
There's someone such as I
Who came to bury broken dreams
And watch an old love die
If I could find that lonely street
Where dim lights bring forgetfulness
Where broken dreams and mem'ries meet
Where's this place called "Lonely Street?"
Where's this place called "Lonely Street?"
lovely! but this is marty how could it be anything but great?
Is there a downloadable version of this ? Great version !
Tarquin, do you have Marty on "I Can't Wait Until Tomorrow" that you could post? I love that song. Thanks.
tarquin45, I can't believe it! I consider myself a really BIG Marty fan but didn't even know he sang this song! Was this from "Spotlight"?
Another question: has the song "See The Open Range" already been released now? IIRC, I read the song's title on a CD a few years back. In the booklet of the Bear Family box "Under Western Skies", it said: "MCA unissued/lost", but since this box is sixteen years old now, maybe you can help me out on this. Thank you very much for all your wonderful uploads!
I don't think that it's a matter of who performed this song the best. There is a huge difference between people's taste in music. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though. I guess I just can't help being a devoted Marty fan. Anyway, there is a lot of good music out there and it's a good thing that there are many different performers. There is bound to be someone for anyone. And when you've found yours, it will bring you joy and comfort. At least, that's what I get with Marty's music.
Nobody blames a great singer attempting a great song. But don't stand there and try to tell me Marty, or the Everlys, Emmylou, Cline, Sweet Gene etc , sings this as good as Carl Belew, George, or Tammy; who nail it.
KNOW YOUR SONG, then you can begin to "perform" it. Here, Marty's doing the Andy Williams croon. He's better than that
Ok so if I read 1st then ask questions its not on an album but a tv show sooooo can we buy the tv show??? if so what dvd or vhs is it on??
What album if any does this song appear on thanks!
Tammy's version is great, so is Patsy's version.
The best of this song is by Gene VINCENT !
My longtime and most respected friend for 50 yrs, Carl Belew still puts more feeling to this song than Mel,Marty, Jim, etc. Jim Boling
@Persuvian
I ama huge Marty robbins fan, but nobody does this song as well as Johnny Tillotson.
In your dreams. Andy Williams did an awesome job on this song back in 1959 . And Mary Robbins also did an awesome job singing this song. 👍
@@alexandroguerra1845 music is subjective, to each his own, and Marty Robbins is on top of my list as the greatest country music singer/songwriter..
Even though I love Marty Robbins, don't think anyone does this song as well as Rex Allen Jr.
