Nice video, it will make my life easier. Just one question, does the cable to connect the HD to the motherboard comes inside or is it something I will have to buy? Thanks!
I have this laptop same model, it has ssd slot but no ssd device included. I have experienced lag or slow response in navigating any applications. Do I need to upgrade to ssd in order to fix this problem?
Thank you, Excellent tutorial! I see in this video, that it's missing a HDD flat cable to install a 2.5" HDD (SSD) beside the M.2 SSD. Do you know the model of this cable and where I can get one? Thank you very much.
if you look at the fan on the left side follow the copper cooling heat-sink that turns black going right of the fan. Follow that to the black rectangle that the heat-sink attaches to the top of. you'll see 4 screws on each corner of the rectangle. Underneath that is the CPU.
I don't think so, I believe the m.2 2280 slot is set up to read nvme / ssd and the smaller 2230 slot is set up for WiFi only, though I am not certain. You could try swapping the two and booting to see what happens. I bought a Dell Inspiron 14" 5485 with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Vega 8 igpu and I am running 32gb of 2400 cl14 HyperX Impact, a Corsair Force MP510 960gb and a Qualcom Atheros Killer 1535 for a WiFi Chip. Needless to say, its quicker and faster now!
In an Inspron and Vostro version of the 5480-5481 you absolutely can fit up to 2280 form factor. However there are limitations. Inspiron can only have a max m.2 nvme of 256 GB, while the Vostro can take up to 512GB.
Does someone know if i can upgrade the ssd to more than 512 gb? The manual says it supports up to 512 gb but crucial and kingston websites for compatible components list ssd's up to 2TB. I´ve heard about people doing it but i want to be completely sure before i buy a bigger ssd. I intend to make a partition and instal another OS so i could use just up to 512 Gb on the windows partition if necessary, but i want to know if i'm going to be able to make the partition or the sysem just won't recognize the ssd as a whole with all its memory
Hello. I have one of those, and I would like to double its memory(it came with 8Gb from factory). What brand/clock would you recommend me as not to generate conflict with the module already installed? Thanks.
I watch this to ensure that inspiron 5480 have 2 slot of ram. Thank! Good video
Up to 32gb or just 16gb?
@@chainsapphire9526 Maximum 32gb of RAM 👍
@@AshariUtomoPutra can i change the HDD to SATA M2 SSD?

Ru eL Same here.. Following

it should have 2 rams ,1 ssd nvme port and 1 hdd connector
Is there a way to add 2.5in hdd ? Cause I don't see a sata connector
Does this laptop work without a battery attached to it?

@@jeffreyzhou1824 Thanks man!

I opened my Dell 5000, and the flat cable included inside hdd/ssd slot. Right Inside the black plastic cover.

Is there a battery upgrade for this unit? If so would you know the part number?
There is no upgrade beyond the OEM 42whr Battery. YRDD6 is the part number, they go for roughly 50 dollars.
O melhor é que ele tem entrada m2 MVNE e suporta 16Gb de Ram.
Suporta até mais! O meu tá com 24GB (8 + 16)!
is this laptop can accept windows 11 upgrade ?
I haven't tried mine because i see many saying w11 is still buggy these days. By the way, what is your ssd?
Where is the processor located at?
Can you please let me know?

I've just ordered the 5481 and am curious as to what the maximum ram can be. It comes with 4 but I've seen things that say you can ramp it up to 24
The CPU has the ability to make use of 64gigs but the motherboard limits you to 32 :(

If you have the Inspiron 256 m.2 nvme. Vostro supports 512 m.2 nvme.
Appears that there's a limit on SATA as well. Inspiron will only support 1TB. The Vostro Supports 2 TB.
