    Good day !!!
My son 9.5 years old having lazy eye. His left eye has 6/6 clear vision and right eye has both spherical power and cylindrical power.
    Right eye

    Cylindrical - 3.50
He is doing eye patch 3 hours per day along with some eye exercises at home since 20 days...kindly suggest the exact exercises which suits for his eye problem.
Pls confirm,do he need to wear the prescribed glass with patching on dominant eye while doing eye exercises.
Many thanks in advance for your kind reply

Hi, absolutely your child must wear the prescription glasses provided when patching the dominant eye. If the lazy eye cannot see clearly enough it will not encourage fusion of both eyes - not that patching promotes 3D vision, it merely builds strength and pathways in the weaker eye.
Regarding specific exercises - I will give you some brief bullet points for now. But please stay subscribed to the channel with notifications on as the OcuView with be coming soon alongside physical exercises that your child will benefit from:-
1/ play games that involve hand-eye coordination - this can be anything from a board game to throwing and catching a ball etc.
2/ Try and encourage exercising before bed and shortly after waking - it can be very demanding on the child so go easy. But the reason for this is that the brain will already be used to suppressing the weaker eye when tired. The aim is for the brain to get used to using the weaker eye when tired.
3/ Try patching outdoors in nature - if the child is self-conscious about the patch while outdoors, try going for walks where very few people go.
      Hope this helps.

I would exercise the left and right eye if you have strabismus in both.

No, but you should wear glasses or contact lenses if you are prescribed them.

Do you have vision in you esotropic eye when your dominant eye is covered i.e. can you read text, see and recognise people's faces or objects ? Do you wear glasses or contact lenses to correct an acuity issue in one or both eyes? Is the esotropia organic or was it caused by a head or other injury?

Hi Raj, can you tell me if the doctor you visited is a Vision Therapist?
The reason I ask is because neuroplasticity was once believed to stop (or slow significantly) after the age of 7, which is still the prevailing view for some. This means most professionals hold on to the notion that amblyopia is irreversible beyond 7-9yrs old.
I usually advise that people search for a Vision Therapist first and foremost. My prognosis was completely the opposite from that of my glasses provider.
Also, search for Professor Susan Barry- StereoSue: fixing my gaze.
This lady was born with a squint, had numerous surgeries throughout her early life to try and correct alignment. She was 50yrs old when she gained stereoscopic vision due to vision therapy.

@@seein3d456 I think he was not a vision therapist, he was an eye doctor who do surgeries also like cataract removal etc,.

Hi, I'm not sure if these exercises can help you.
You say you have very poor vision. Is the vision improved with a prescription lens? Can you read an eye chart at the opticians?

Hi, thanks for your question. These exercises are designed to help gain vision (by repetition) in a lazy eye.
If an eye has never really been used from birth or early childhood, the aim is to build connections between the lazy eye and brain, thus promoting an improvement in vision acuity.
Age is no barrier when it comes to exercising, but the longer the brain has gone without building connections to the visual cortex, the longer it will take. It requires hard work and dedication to reverse something that has persisted for decades, but is achievable.
Look up 'Professor Susan Barry- stereo sue - fixing my gaze' to see an example of a lady gaining 3D vision at the age of 50yrs old.
      I hope this helps.
