It is a super great isekai
Oh lawd y'all are already getting into a lot of the story if you're up to episode 11. There is an OVA/Special called "Memory Snow" that takes place between episodes 11 & 12, some people watch it at the end of the season but some people watch it inbetween 11 & 12. It's up to you when you wanna watch it, but it's more lighthearted and it doesn't really matter if you watch it sooner rather than later. Still worth watching though

"Loli" is an anime/japanese term which simply describes females with a small frame (regardless of age). This is the opposite of a thicc female character. Since young girls most often fit the description many think it is only associated with young girls/children - which is very often how it is presented in anime. However, this word has no age reference - a "petit women" character is also a loli. The male expression would be "Shota". Be careful when using these expressions on social media since many users don't know the correct terminology and japanese culture behind and therefore misunderstand the expression solely being used for children and that leads to people going into a nasty direction.

Emilia didn't understand the Japanese idiom, but her reply of "Yes, it's far beyond our reach" still ended up being a rejection of Subaru's confession. She basically told him "Love is distant/impossible for us."

For those who think The moon is beautiful comes from anime, it's from a famous author Osamu Dazai. When he was an English teacher, he asked students to translate "I love you" in English to Japanese. When the students gave it word for word, Dazai replied that love should be more subtle, "The moon is beautiful (for I am with you)". A very Japanese-like phrase
yeah was used in ds too when the insect hashira tells the water hashira the moon is beautiful/pretty isn't while on spider mountain
There's Rem (blue hair), Ram (red hair) and Rom (the big guy in the first arc who ate Subaru's chips bag)

This episode is so good at being a breather from the same day we've just spent 80 minutes watching, introducing a bunch of new main characters, and then hooking you again with the unexpected death at the end.

This show is hilarious: Subaru says the dumbest things and is definitely driven by his urges, no matter what urge it is (wink wink nudge nudge), but then they take you from silly to "WTF JUST HAPPENED" in an instant. Let me just say that this show takes time to ramp up to not only learn the characters but their motivations and alliances (similar to AoT taking a while with the purposeful easter eggs).
That's something sad about his power, going back erases whatever he did, like Emila no longer and never will know about the time they spent before his first death, but he remembers it always

13:56 Loli when used in anime is more or less just small and petite(in some circumstances) but more often just small as characters like Uzaki(Uzaki Chan Wants to Hang Out) and Hestia(Danmachi) are called loli but are certainly not petite in frame.

@@sh4pp31 the term loli can be said to be derived from the term lolita(though that may not be wholly accurate) popularized from the book/movie Lolita about a guy interested in an underage girl however it's not the same meaning loli in relation to anime is literally just a body type a child character can be a loli but being a child isn't the part that makes them a loli.

@@acrabdevisactually yes, there is. the term stems from the novel Lolita about a pedo professor that kidnaps and repeatedly grapes a 12-year-old, who is the eponymous "Lolita." japan just glosses over that fact.
It only means little girl appearance, nothing more, other thing is that some people are attracted to this characters in sexual terms, but that doesn't have anything to do really with the general term

personally, i like to think that very duality is the main theme of the show; both in the way that it fluctuates between tones, and how it presents both virtues and flaws in positive or negative lights via context, in a manner very true to life (fullmetal alchemist is similar in that regard)
there's much more the story takes care to celebrate, but i want to keep this comment to a single topic: life is not straightforward, and neither is a person's growth

Within context of this series Loli just means little girl, but its in the same vein as words like Waifu, only meant to describe the appearance of a character rather than an opinion of them
Also, the word Subaru uses for Emilia "-tan" is an honorific like chan, san, sama, kun, etc. The thing to note is that -tan is a dimmuitive word with no good equivalent in English, but just know its a really weird and cringy thing to call her.
Its sorta like he calls her "Wittle Emiwia".

Wow, you learn more everyday. I always got the impression he was that kind of person; and I was always kinda confused why it went over so many people's heads that he was cringe and socially awkward (perhaps maybe because it's a bit expected from an anime protagonist, but everyone's reaction to him in the story really dispelled that from my mind), however, the more times I go over the story I realize he's far more so than I thought the first time around.
@@ravwoofles3858 I think as a japanes guy ur supposed to undersand the cringiness of it and the non reaction from other caracters that r from a medieval time and dont get it is supposed to enhance the funy quirky cringy feeling that support that he is different and out of place in this word but still accepted

I actually cannot remember if it's true or not since i havent seen the show since 2017 but that's definitely something to keep track of: who is subaru interacting with when things are going right or wrong, and how is he adapting OR changing that outcome... and what is in his control, not in his control, what is fated and what is just external forces (human or not) influencing the actions being made.
And yes, the Ram and Aswalt scene is intended to be a weird one.

This show is HEAVY on lore. It's a very thought put system all over. The details are really nicely done

This is by far my favorite anime so I cant wait for you guys to go on this journey. Love your theories too. One thing I would say as well is the use of music in this anime is fantastic. Each song puts you in the mood currently happening in the scene so well. if its going to be earie ...the sound track can make yer hair stand... if its happy the sound tracks makes you smile just by hearing it.

While loli is technically to refer to someone's, um, "youthful" appearance, unfortunately you must be weary of people who use it to describe their tastes.

Well Loli is just a term for a little child, specifically for a little girl BUT it has been used in many inappropriate ways. Well i think u know already how its used when i say inappropriate ways.
Subaru's obsession with Emilia annoys me as the series goes on. Like I can understand the desire to help, but there is obviously a better waifu.
Also just to clarify, in the 30+ volumes that Re Zero has run for, Betty/ Beatrice is treated as a child and is loved by everyone platonically in the story. Please don't let weirdos sour your opinion if they do say unsavoury things in the comments. ( Child Lovers 🤢)
