thanks for help! the wall is working now! my next step is working xlights. Im have trouble trying to program it. Small sections of the wall is working because im not enter the formula correctly when entering the individual start channels. ADVATEK assist is set for 170, 510 channels. The setup is the same as in the video. Since i have 136 pixels i multiply that by 3 which is 408. 480 is my first start channel, #2 is 511 and then i add 510 to every string. for some reason its not working. Do you think you know the problem? you help would be greatly appreciated
@@TheLedwarehouse my version of xlights is 2020.01 so its a little different. i have the advatek assist and xlights set but its still not working. im not sure if the formula is suppose to be different. Im sure its minor issue, would it be possible to jump on a quick phone call?
jeffrey scott easiest start would be to send me a screen shot of your advetek settings and your xlights settings. That way we can see if something obvious is off.
I am in the middle of building a RGB tree based on your tutorial. I have 50 pixels per string and I want to put a 50 pixel star on top of the tree. When you guys put a star on top did you run the star seperatley in Xlights or as an extension of the first strand.. I was going to show that my first string had 100 pixels and not 50 in Xlights..... Is this right? so far so good with the tree I just need to sort out Xlights. Thanks.
jagmac01 im going to assume you are going to use one channel per strand on your tree. In other words you will have 16 strands plugged into 16 different channels. In xlights set up the tree as such. You should end up with your first strand as channel 1 through 150 this way. Next, in your layout add a star. Just like the tree there is a star template button. Start your star on channel 151. This assumes you attach the star to your first strand.
I'm wanting to start with models and eventually move to a full digital light show. I can't get the avatek assistant to find my pix light on the network
I must be up in the night or over my head. cause it abounds like rocket science to me. I really need some one on one help. I'll do some more research I guess
Yes is connected via hard wire to my home network. I must have something wrong. Maybe I just start back at square one and make sure my home network is working
@@richardrojas902 it runs on x lights which you can download and any 16ch rgb controller would work. I like falcon boards myself, but there are others out there.
you can run a total of 680 pixels per channel on a pixlite 4. However, you can only run about 150 pixels in a row before you have to inject power. What I would do, is split your tree into 200 pixel sections (4 strands) and add in power at the bottom (so every 100 pixels). Use a power distribution board so you have fuses to protect the system. This will give you a a system of 200 pixels per output, or 800 total.
TheLedwarehouse you have been a tremendous help in getting me on my way building mega tree. I now have a pixlite 4, 12 strands of 50 ws2811 pixels, and a 23 inch star. I do have a question regarding the start channels on the Mega tree and star. Would each string on the tree start in 150 increments? Example: String 1: Start 1 End 150String 2: Start 151 End 300 ect..ect..
Interested to know how you handle your power injection. Also looks like a few of your runs are pushing the limits of the "max 15ft to 1st pixel" recommendation, so wonder if you've had some issues with that. Awesome suggestions in one of your RGB Star video as well, re: lowering brightness to not max out amperage (and not blow a fuse)!
Steve Haber 20-25ft on 18awg is the furthest ive gone without any issues. Ive heard of folks going 30-35ft. But there are other ways if you need to go further. Im thinking about building another tree using a 2 channel controller, which would have lots of power injection. That would illustrate power injection.
Great "how to" video..answered a lot of questions regarding universes. Thanks

jeffrey scott xlights set up needs to match your advetek set up. So if advetek is set to 170 lights per channel, so should xlights.

Im new this year to rgb and pixlite. Any suggestions on where to start?

Its a little late in the year to start but most the things we used to build this our on our website the-led-warehouse.com

Would I also need another 12v power supply?
not really. It may be easier to build it that way, but you can tap off the same power supply more than once.

Update your xLights version - Models look a bit nicer now
Steve Haber yes, i run the latest version now. But this video is a year old now so at the time, this was the current xlights version.
