Hello Adam. Thank you for sharing your flight with us. Being above the clouds is such an amazing view. I've often wondered if anyone has ever flown into Orlando and seen a wee bit of the Fireworks from Epcot? Dave and I have never been to Florida. We travel to Anaheim California, driving from Arizona. Adam, that helicopter looked like it was a Border Patrol Helicopter and he was doing a practice maneuver called "Auto Rotation". He hovers over his landing zone and shuts his engine off and lands without power. If you noticed he landed on the grass and he was dropping like a rock and flared his nose up at the last second. I used to watch the Careflight Helicopter Auto Rotate and skid across the grass at Hoxton Park Aerodrome in South West Sydney as part of ongoing safety training ( Before the airstrip closed and was sold off for industrial ) BTW the engine isn't shut off, the gearbox is disengaged prior to Autorotation so as to allow the rotor hub to spin freely and feather to slow the helicopters fall. Impressive to watch a large medical chopper skid across the grass at high speed then re engage the gearbox an climb rapidly!
