That's so damn true...Most of us feel like our skin is getting roasted when we speak Malayalam in a public event outside Kerala..We need to be bolder and stronger...Malayalam is a great language of high calibre.. It can be spoken with confidence anywhere in the world..
Innocent not only embarrass the Malayalee, but also an MP who utilized the least amount of funds available to him on his constituency, Chalakudy. He has only used 29.53 % of the total amount available. The amount recommended by the MP was Rs. 10.65 crore and the district authority granted Rs. 9.12 crore. The Kochi Post published a story on the amount utilized under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) by the Members of Parliament (MPs) from Kerala in the 16th Lok Sabha. He also figures on the bottom of the list with regard to the attendance details of MPs from Kerala. He has only 57% attendance in the Lok Sabha. The national average for attendance is 82% and the state average is 77%. When asked the media about his absence, Mr. Innocent said, during my school days, he had full attendance, yet he failed. So attendance is not important. What an intelligent answer! Please don't send these kind of "Jokers" to the Parliament for God's sake.

As per Article 343 of the Constitution of India, India's official languages shall be Standard Hindi has written in the Devanagari script, as well as English. Hindi and English are used for official purposes such as parliamentary proceedings, judiciary, communications between the Central Government and a State Government. As per estimates, about 75% in India can speak and understand colloquial Hindi. Other Indian languages are each spoken by around 10% or less of the population. While I respect all languages of India, but none can compare to Hindi when it comes to the number of people who can speak that language and understand it. It is not only spoken in the Hindi speaking belt like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Delhi, Chhattisgarh etc., but it is also spoken, even in much of the non Hindi speaking belt as a second language in West Bengal, Kashmir, Punjab, Assam and other North Eastern States, Telangana, Seemandhra, Goa, Maharashtra, etc. Even in South India, mainly in the metro cities, people can speak and understand Hindi. You better engage a tuition teacher and learn Hindi, otherwise stay within your state.
+ Hari Kumar Nair Elavumthitta, You're a disgrace to Kerala for saying "Learn Hindi or stay in your own state"...Even though a common language is required for India, Hindi is not the right language as the national language as it's the mother tongue of a region and it will lead to linguistic chauvinism of North Indians.. Learn a language and the ability to speak enables one to communicate and serve people better. Innocent is an MP who elected and is sent by the people of Kerala. To remain monolingual will restrict his communication and thinking abilities, and to deny himself the ability to fully appreciate and understand the place in which he lives. Learning another language opens up new opportunities and gives you perspectives that you might never have encountered otherwise. What a stupid idea you put forward? Who will care what you have written in the first paragraph of your post in Malayalam in English? How difficult it is to read and understand. My reply is in the second part of your post, because it is easily readable and has sense in it. Why our MPs struggled in the Parliament to raise an issue? Because most of them don't know how to speak the common language, Hindi, which almost everyone understand in the Parliament. They are poor performers in the Parliament with their limited spoken skills. Learning a foreign language is an incredibly rewarding experience and a serious confidence booster, improve your ability to make wiser decisions, make your point across, above all impress the people around you. I think that people learn languages because it is important that people can understand each other. You don't forget your mother tongue. Do you? Then why you so hesitant to learn Hindi, the most widely spoken language in India today, serves as a lingua franca for much of the country ?
Anyway the Kerala M.Ps are not productive. Hence, it does not matter whether they speak French or Malayalam in the Parliament. All in all, it is time for an introspection for them whether their lack of proficiency in our common language Hindi affects their work efficiencies and contribution to the State they represent. After all it is not a free service to the nation, but the Government spends Rs.2.7 lakh a month per MPs on various heads. This figure was released by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, claimed and reimbursed by these MPs every month! I wonder why we elect Innocent like a Joker to the Parliament then? He choses to speak in Malayalam in the Lok Sabha and his speeches were translated by fellow MPs from Kerala on those occasions. How pathetic?

As per Article 343 of the Constitution of India, India's official languages shall be Standard Hindi has written in the Devanagari script, as well as English. Hindi and English are used for official purposes such as parliamentary proceedings, judiciary, communications between the Central Government and a State Government. Not your "Malayalam" I am sure. If you don't agree, you continue to debate in Parliament with your mother tongue which no one understands anyway. At present, almost 60% Parliamentarians speak English in Indian Parliament. As per estimates, about 75% in India can speak and understand colloquial Hindi. Other Indian languages are each spoken by around 10% or less of the population. While I respect all languages of India, but none can compare to Hindi when it comes to the number of people who can speak that language and understand it. Even your current DGP, Lokanath Behera can speak Malayalam when is in Kerala why your M.Ps are hesitant to learn and speak in Hindi when they are in Delhi. They are being paid for it my dear. Wake up the most literate people on earth!!! You waste your time always for worthless arguments 24x7, the usual "Malayalee's" attitude.
For your knowledge, there are 422,048,642 people speak Hindi in India, 98,207,180 people use it as their second language, there are 31,160,696 people use it as their third language. Thus the total number of Hindi speakers in India is 551,416,518. One or more languages spoken as first languages in the territory of a country may be referred to, informally or designated in legislation as national languages of the country. Hence, as an Indian, you do not need to be ashamed to learn our national language "Hindi".

It is not only spoken in the Hindi speaking belt like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Delhi, Chhattisgarh etc. but it is also spoken, even in much of the non Hindi speaking belt as a second language in West Bengal, Kashmir, Punjab, Assam and other North Eastern States, Telangana, Seemandhra, Goa, Maharashtra, etc. Even in South India, mainly in the metro cities, people can speak and understand Hindi.
