Hors Piste Skiing in Verbier - First Time

If you ski or snowboard Verbier, Switzerland and find yourself on Mont Fort, you can either take the advanced slope down or go "hors piste," which means "outside the ski area boundary." That's what I did. There were so many more lines to choose from. Total adventure. The key is to know where you're going and it's best to have a partner for safety. I linked up with a snowboarder the second time that I did it. For boarders, there is some flat terrain, so you may have to walk at some point. Unless you split board and hike to the back country. Either way, I think it is totally worth it. The "hors piste" terrain is less traveled and more advanced than the "in bounds" slopes. The scenery is even better than what you see throughout Les 4 Vallees.
