I gotta say, for once FD actually made really good changes. The new point system seems to be way better, Robbie is a welcome addition, and the changes to the livestream are great. I actually really liked how Stuke’s interview was played over Field and Kearney’s run

really glad to see FD recognizing their problems and making changes to move in the right direction. Also glad to see fans recognizing and appreciating these changes.
Also this was probably the best flowing drift comp stream ever, good to see you guys putting the work in where it is most needed.
What a season this could be.
This has been great so far. New to formula drift and everything is so polished, plenty of good info about what is going on so I can follow along, and the drifting is great. Love these all action compilations. Makes it way easier to share with friends and maybe get them to watch along in the next leg. Keep it up.

@@explosive_tan yeah imo Matt’s car was running weird or he was just driving it weird this event. Not sure he should have gone this far but good job to him anyways.
Rome will be like James, aasbo, and Vaughn in terms of podiums, he’s one of the most styled and gets locked in on a consistent line through the whole competition. Even in qualifying he qualified very well
Best judging I’ve ever seen in a round, and some of the best driving I’ve ever seen as a whole in a round. Really excited for this season. Almost every top 8 battle could’ve been the battle for first place imo
i actually watched the live but im so glad you summed it up .I didn't know this haha by finger hurts from skipping and it's very organized in general
So far, FD got so much better than last year. In every way possible. It might have been hard to listen to us whine and cry about the faults and problems with judging and other things. but thankfully they got all fixed. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

well yes, matt field spins out when on first run, how could he won?
@@nurhariyanto4788 there is the thing, that for a good chase run, there has to be a good lead run, so if the lead driver hits the wall even just slightly, if the chase car is just centimetres away, the hit causes the lead car to slowdown a lot, so the chase driver could either bump the lead car or avoid the bump by over rotating the car, Matt chose to aviod it, that is why he got the win. Just scraping the wall is cool, but hitting it completely changes the attitude of the car and the lead run is not great, because of inconsistent speed

Yeah I'm not sure about that call. The rules state that the lead must maintain an expected momentum. Robbie said Hurst was accelerating at the right point but that is not the same thing maintaining momentum. At the least it should have been shared fault.

That's positive G, so while correlated with gas pedal is not directly pulled from throttle.
Can someone explain why did Matt Field win vs Aasbo? Field spun during the chase run and Aasbo did a good job during his. So why did Field get the win?
The cars have a light on both sides of the windscreen. It goes green under acceleration and yellow on minor deceleration. It goes red when the deceleration crosses a threshold. In this case when Aasbo hit the wall it went red so he was deemed to be at fault. Others hit the wall too but the lights didn't go red.
@@jasonpickens9839 If you play frame by frame, it's actually turning red as he's accelerating through the transition and away from the wall (turns red just as a gap appears between bumper and wall and remains so as the car is literally pushing away from the wall, accelerating toward the opposite wall). These cars would struggle to transition at that large of an angle while under deceleration and the replay shows Aasbo smoothly transitioning from the wall tap to OZ2. I sincerely believe that the red light appearing was a malfunction. It just does not make any sense that he would decelerate there, that he would be able to decelerate and do what he did, and that the light would literally go from full green (hard accel) to full red (hard, VISIBLE decel which you can't see even if you watch it closely) back to full green again in that short of a time as the car is literally pulling away from already having hit the wall.
I never thought I'd see a Corvette in a drift racing competition.

WTF was the judges thinking in giving Field the win over Aasbo? Crashing in chase, then doing a super-safe line in lead is apparently a winning run, now?!

This is spectacular, but I just don´t know how the judges determine who wins and who lose.
Drifting is judged by the following criteria: Line, angle and style.
The chase driver's job is to mimic the lead driver as closely as possible, while keeping minimum distance.

@@julianr.7186 You're welcome. Sometimes when the performance differences between both drivers are too small, the judges call for a One More Time (OMT).
@@yongling9825 I would always call for an OMT until someone spins or crashes... Other than that, they are usually a 10/10. I´m hooked to this now.
That was a great Finals run from Matt Field but it should've been Rome and Aasbo in the Finals in my opinion.

Hurst got up there! Craziest part is he was running 255's in this event, where most are running 285's
Idk if you know but there tire size is tied to how heavy the car is, he must weigh less than most of the cars if he’s running a smaller tire
@@keenankircher7492 he was meant to be running a 285 but was on a 255 since his sponsor didn't have the supply for him. I'd like to think he ran a lighter car but the regulation between 255 and 285 is quite a bit of weight

Hurst was on throttle way to late bruv, if you check that run compared to others you’d see, hurst got back on throttle or started to at the inside clipping point. LATE

Aasbo should have made it to the final
Teurck and Hurst was not the right out come IMO. If you put the playback speed to 0.25, you’ll see that hurst was set up to go wider than desired round the hairpin and decides mid corner to try and dig the front end to get closer to the inside clip. It slowed him down, which is okay (within decel zone), but the mid corner angle adjustment definitely seems to me to be the fault here.

There's no replacement for displacement. And then there's a vr38, a bunch of b58s now, a couple 2jzs, Rad Dan is just out this season, and a 20b.
oh and tuerk is running a 2ar, the rav4 engine.
There's a few 2jz's, two 4 cyls, 1 rotary, even 1 land cruiser v6, there's a fair bit of variety

Well probably because shows are not based on just math, but also on what happens in the competitions. That might be why.
@@formuladrift for something called all action there's a bunch of time where there's nothing going on on the screen maybe hire a better editor so that doesn't happen. If you need a reference I know somebody that runs a corporation called take notice Productions there currently in business with A&E so you might want to reach out to them
@@formuladrift for example you spend too much time showing us the cars Sitting Waiting for the judges score why not jump cut to the judges score being revealed then jump cut to the next cars on the line that doesn't sound too hard... ( I'm not an editor so I don't know the proper terminology but I know it's not too hard to do that)
