    This is a little demo of the LLF Seydel Classic harmonica. I love low harmonicas and this super-low blues harp is a new level of low for me! Seydel advertise this range as the lowest harmonica in the world (excluding bass harmonicas designed specifically for playing bass lines). I hope you find this video interesting. You can get more info at the Seydel website: tinyurl.com/y3qpfpzw.

    I've played low E and low F harps for years and they always sit well with singer guitarists when you accompany them playing these. My favourite low harp is a Hohner Extreme Bend Low D - absolutely amazing harmonica that can ape the sound of an accordion.

      I've also seen one tuned down to LLD, but that was a custom job. I've got a brass reed LLF. Kiss pops make a neat noise on LL harps if you reshape your mouth as you play them. Not sure what to call the noise, but I recorded one into audacity once and the waveform diagram broke.

    Love the low harp sounds! Normal Low f is the lowest I have. I need to find more stuff I can play that sounds good in the low end. 'When the Saints ..' is one that I can do on it that sounds good. So it was cool to hear you do that. Lee Oscar has some very cool stuff out playing really low harps!

    Thanks Liam. The low octave on my standard 16 hole chromatic starts on the C3 note, and I really enjoy the sound in the register. I find it a challenge though keeping time with other players on the more complicated melodic pieces because of the latency thing - 'slowness to respond'. Better harp players do no doubt manage it.

  • @UKBluesMonkey

    Got to get one of those! A shrieky standard F can be great for lively fills over an uptempo song, and for cutting across a noisy barroom, but I love my Low F - way more versatile & expressive. But this LLF opens up another level. Also, for my occasional session work, I've found that offering a lower octave take has been met with great interest (& an extra fee!) so I've just gained yet another option! Just add reverb for a bass sax tone...

    • @Learntheharmonica
      @Learntheharmonica  4 года назад

      Yeah always great for sessions. I have some high harps for the same reason (even though I hate them!)

    I have the double low e and absolutely love it...it reminds me of when I played sousophone (I also played alto, soprano (a tiny bit), tenor and baritone sax...my favs were the baritone and sousophone...sadly I have had a lot of jaw surgeries and the actually have reshaped the jaw bone in my mouth...so no embrochure is quite right for the lower saxs anymore) but I can enjoy the harmonica and really tend to love the low harps. I got 2 rocket lows d and f, a seyel low f# and a manji low c!

    5:30 ish, it didn't even take me a month to get a couple low harps, after playing only the C major for a while. I did go out to get the G and A everyone said a beginner should have next to the C. And a lowC and lowD ended up on the list to please the neighbors... only to end up pleasing me the most! 😁
    Also, getting a Cm might help, still shrill but just not so overwhelming.

    Can you get all the draw bends on holes 1, 2, and 3 ?
    Are there any windsaver/valves on holes 1, 2, and 3 draw ?
    I have a Seydel Blues Session LLF that I bought years ago when the stainless steel 1847's first came out (from Rupert Oysler), and only offered in the Blues Session models.
    It does sound pretty awesome, but really hard to get the draw bends on 1, 2, and 3 and it has windsaver/valves on draw holes 1, 2, and 3.
    I love the more recent Seydel 1847 Low Tone Bold Body harps, having just a Low D (in Easy 3rd tuning), and a Low G (part of my Octaharp with a regular G, both in Easy 3rd tuning)... I already have a bunch of regular low pitched harps, but always thinking about getting a few more of the Low Toned 1847s !

    Hi Liam, thanks for the introduction to low key harmonicas. I just bought a Thunderbird low G and I love it . Especially the One blow, that is vibrating throug my entire body😊 However, the Two Doublebend is very very deep in the the hole-out of reach for me yet. Are You also on the search of it, or did it come to You easily in Your double low F? Greetings from Karlsruhe

    Hey Liam, man you make that low tone sound super enchanting! I'm eager to buy my first low tuned harmonica and wondering which key you'd recommend? I'd like to go as low as possible while still being playable, bendable and versatile for many types of music. I've got a standard C and want to have a low tone to round out my two harmonica arsenal :)

    • @Learntheharmonica
      @Learntheharmonica  7 месяцев назад

      The low Seydels are great, but all major manufacturers offer some low keys now. I'll be honest, you're gonna find the bends hard on any low harp if you haven't played one before!

    • @Learntheharmonica

      Hi Lee, short answer is yes. (Longer answer is yes with a standard Richter-tuned harmonica, but there are other tunings available where the "tonic" note would be elsewhere.)
