This kinda thing happened to me at cardiff last week for the members night everyone was so much more in a racing mood in the qualifying session than they were in the race but got through in the end😅
You expect better etiquette on members sessions, especially on the social where it's about lap time. Fighting each other on track is just slowing you both down. On these sessions, if someone is quicker than you, let them by, you might even improve yourself by following them.
I'll be heading down to Sheffield for the first time on the 25th, got any pre-race tips for a first timer around this circut? (prior experience being several 3-4-2 sessions around Notts, best is a 36.9)
The track is grippier generally than Nottingham, but I'll think you'll quickly adjust to that! There isn't a single track map on the wall, just the two smaller tracks that aren't run often (one of them can't be run as the timing loop is broken). The back section is flat out! Just need to be brave!! 👍
it is fun overtaking people, but it can be even more fun slowing down a bit, taking some time to get some clean space for you to find your best line and get a good time. if you slow down a bit more you can make them get stuck behind you :)
Whilst yes, backing off and finding space enables you to focus on your driving again. It's not always possible, especially on busy sessions. Sometimes the only space is ahead of the slower kart in front. Either way, as mentioned in another comment, it's common etiquette on members sessions to simply let a faster kart past, not look over at them and push them into the barrier.
It Can be very annoying sometimes. I think it needs making clear on sessions like these and the open sessions its a time trial not a race. its all about the lap times. As already stated if someone is faster let them past tag on and you will learn more. Deffinetley think we have crossed paths and spoiken as this is my local track. keep up the good work and videos mate. all the best and good luck
Great race, I'm not sure why you were black flagged, nothing in it, funny thing on the Friday I was in Kart 2 and doing well and I got given kart 13 on the next race and things went down hill too lol,
Looks a decent track in Sheffield. I'll have to give it a try. I know the members events at venues with electric karts are run in a higher power mode than the usual public events. Do they have a similar function on the petrol karts?
No, all the petrol karts are the same regardless of the session. There is sometimes a variation between the karts power delivery which can make one particularly faster or slower than others though.
@@RobGoesRacing ahh, I was hoping that wasn't the case 😂. I recently did a 3-4-2 session at Notts with a fastest lap of 33.356. After our session we went in the bar and a group of lads with their own suits and boots went on and started doing 31.9s. I was never fully happy with how I drove the hairpin but I thought I'd got the rest of the lap pretty well sorted so I wondered if they'd got access to more power. Obviously I need to go back and try harder 😂
@@RobGoesRacing haha I hope so. One of the managers at Stoke was saying that their electric karts run on power level 3 usually but there's a 4th that they use on members events. I understand this would be more difficult on petrol karts though 🤷♂️
The issue most likely was the aggression you were taking. For instance the first pass where you say you gave the thumbs up. You crossed his line. You enter low to undercut but then come up into the line assuming he gives it to you. Next is the entrances into the corners you are taking are the reason you have less exit speed but close in on them so quickly. If these sessions are for lap times only then these would be the reason for the black flag. Think of it as attacking and defense. You are attacking at every corner for a couple of laps. Can create an issue for more than just yourself. Race official are making sure it's safe for you and others to have the fairest experience. Again if this is a straight positional race they would most likely throw the blue flag at the other driver but time sessions not so much.

At least you made it through! 👍

Absolutely! Unfortunately this group didn't get the message 😭
Congratulations on 200 subs!
Thanks! It's moved very quickly over the last month, it was the 8th Jan I remember getting excited at 100! 👍🎉🎈
Congrats on 3K Subs!

@@RobGoesRacing haha, I've heard tell of how Notts is Skid Central.
Thanks, looking forward to trying out a new track.

Definitely would make it better if people understand that before going on track!
Do say hi if you spot me around! 👋

I had kart 13 in the third session and, well, you'll see next week! 😂👍
I'm still confused over the black flag! 🤔

As far as I know - I could still be wrong! 😂

I got a black flag for overtaking someone once
At Sheffield, or somewhere else?
I've always said the Sheffield marshals are quite fair, perhaps someone was having an off day.
@@RobGoesRacing no it was at supakart in Newport
u are coping so much
Coping with what? I'm not following, sorry!
