    Beautiful scenery. That trail looks like quite the cardio work out. We have never camped out there due to the lack of flush toilets. We just got back from Lac La Hache. It does cool off at night there. Have you ever eaten at Horstings, north of Cache Creek? It is a farm stand with great sandwiches. Lots of vegetarian options. Our daughter had a chickpea salad sandwich. Nancy

    As you travel north from this campground, stop at the hotel in Port Renfrew for some great food. It’s part of our Circe route tour. Also visit Botanical Beach. Check the tide tables and visit during low tide. Fairy Lake and Lizard Lake have some nice unserviced campsites as well.

    I've been in that part of the island, many years ago; I've always wanted to go back but time passes too quickly with so many other places to go. Absolutely beautiful scenery. Finch is looking quite comfortable sitting in the passenger seat with his built in head rest.

    Just a note to say hello. We watch your videos pretty consistently, but rarely comment. So today, I just wanted to express some appreciation. Thank you for the great scenery and adventures you share. Perhaps we will have the opportunity to visit some of the parks one day, if we get to Canada. ~Randy from USA

    We lived in Sooke for almost a decade, 20+ years ago! Don't bother with the math, I'm old. Anyway nice to see Island content. Next time you stay at Fort do get over to Original Pho in Langford. Our camping season this year has been reduced to a bunch of weekend day trips as I work my way up the wait lists for this or that medical procedure or test or whatever. Don't answer the phone run the risk of losing your place in line and it can be weeks if not months to get back up to the top. Don't worry about me, its not a killer but it needs attention or it could be kind of thing going on. Plus living in the Comox Valley I can get to fantastic Sites and Trails remote campsites in a couple of hours or less.

    We like the idea that you take small trips, stop for a couple of days, explore, then move on to other adventures. We tend to copy your preferences in this regard. Did you reserve book for Juan de Fuca Provincial Park or take potluck given that there would probably be spaces on a Sunday?

    • @hikenrv
      @hikenrv  3 месяца назад

      We do prefer to do more frequent but shorter trips. 3-4 days works well for us. Usually about 2 weeks is a max and then it’s nice to get home. Still, some places may take longer.

    Fort Victoria? Absolutely not for me.
    But China beach is great.
    If you want to be cold, try French beach. You need winter parkas in August. Guaranteed. Very windy and most sites very shaded.

    • @hikenrv
      @hikenrv  2 месяца назад

      @@LiseWrigleywe are not frequent users of commercial campgrounds (usually only if no parks etc nearby or if we need power) but this is one of the better ones in our experience. And so close to everything, which is a big plus, but if there is another option we would like to try. Any recommendations helpful. And yes, it’s great to find a place out of the heat of summer. Love both China and French Beach campsites for that!
