I do want to support them when they are cute but the whole being brothers thing is still gross so I end up feeling awkward instead. Besides here the younger brother is a creep to make it worse. I love Teng though, he is my favorite character in this drama. His personality is cool and I do like Licheng, he is loyal and funny but he can be a bit too much at times. I don't mind the step brothers relationship, I'm not gross out with their family background at all, bcs this kind of trope is everywhere. At least a J-Drama version of step brother and step sister relationship called "Ani ni aisaresugite komatemasu" was not this toxic, the step bro in that drama forbid his step sister to date all of her crush, because the boys and a man who courted her are all bad guys/mostly playboys who meant to break her heart. BUT THIS? Yongjie literally crossed the line with punching Muren without confirming the truth.
The obsession that Yongjie had for Yeh is what made me sick. It's super duper unhealthy, toxic and fragile.
I understand that this drama is not a real depiction of real life relationships, but one can not just justify that fiction theme with 'red flag' plotlines. I never even saw/encountered any drama BL or straight ones who romanticized hitting other people for false accusations and pure jealousy, having unhealthy obsession towards his partner, etc. If there's no Licheng & Muren couple, I'd drop this drama the second Yongjie punched Muren out of nowhere. I think Yongjie should meet a psychiatrist..😌😌
