I love watching when naturals do their hair and they’re just simply smoothing and applying products and you see that stretch of their hair 😍. Legit black girl magic ✨. Great video! I rake and shingle my hair mostly. I smooth only when I’m first applying lol. Shingling has changed the game for my WNG, period! It can be time consuming, but the pay off is great! Your curls are popping!!! 😍😍♥️
I do the Dickey Method, so I apply my product in the shower and then I shake my hair to encourage clumping. I don't have time or patience for all the sectioning and whatnot tbh.
I didnt like raking bc my roots would be puffy... but i didnt smooth then rake... i normally shingle bc i prefer the definition esp at the crown of my head where my curls are disrespectful
@@beaubeauknows3620 You were so right! I did it last night and my roots aren't as puffy. I was suffering though lol. I can't shingle ever again. I have wayyyyyy too much hair.
Chin926 i do a lazy shingle😂😂i apply my gel smooth from root to tip and put my first 4 fingers through the section, close my fingers together and smooth the hair through my fingers... the pieces will be wider or smaller depending on the size of the section... i hope that makes sense.
Yes i used to do wash and gos when my hair was shorter And now my curls are inconsistent😐😐 but its the easiest style to do and im in love with how it looks😭😍
Tia Price rock it, girl! My curls in the front and crown area are a bit looser than the rest and can tend to be more s shaped than coily (depending on what products I use) if I want them to be more uniform with the curls in the back, I’ll finger curl the ends of my curls in the front 💕
I have low porosity hair that is very dense and I'm gonna say "coarse", where your hair appears more "silky". My curl type appears to be 4a/4b I believe. I'm still learning about my natural hair. How do you keep the water in your spray. bottle hot to complete your whole head? Do you boil the water first? I'm confused by these videos when by the time I finish one small section, the water is cold.
double joy The water in my apt gets really hot so I just fill the bottle with hot water. It does cool down some for me but it stays warm while styling my hair. You can also apply your leave in conditioner in the shower after your deep conditioner while your hair is still warm 💕
Wow you hair is pretty defined even before you applied the leave in conditioner 😍 I wish😫 because my hair would be extremely frizzy after I wash my hair I don’t know how to help that
This video is indeed helpful! With every Wash n Go l do, it is a learning process for me! l am still learning how to master a Wash n Go! l totally agree with you that with every product \ styler used you get a different look! l have experienced that myself. Anyway l would like to add that l guess there are different types of low porosity. l really think that l am low porosity even though l use room temperature water and the product is still able to absorb into my hair easily and l get very defined curls ( never used warm water yet). But l have realized if l use a heavy product and l use too much it will sit on my hair for eg. regular Castor oil. l have never had a problem with a Styler not absorbing in my hair though! l can use as much as l need!
Nicole Allen thank you, love! 💕 & yes ma’am, I agree! I know some people say their hair is super low porosity so I do believe there are levels to it lol
Bomb! Your my curl twin but yours is prettier. Very motivating. I like to smooth/praying hands but my roots tend to get more puffy than I like with it. I shingle at the top because I have looser curls due to having a leave out sew ins. Also my hair takes forever to dry as well...smh esp the very back.
Mia Scott oooh okay that’s good to hear because I just cut all of my relaxed ends. My hair isn’t long but I have some hair to work with. But luckily enough it’s in a protective style. But I do want to see how a wash an go look like. Question: do you under the hair typing?? Like some my hair is defined without hair products then some are like pen spring size.
I'm a guy and I hve like 4b/4a hair and raking doesn't work for me 😭 I only rake so I can shingle but that takes FOREVERRR and I can't see the back of my hair lol
Euuugeeena a wash & go is low manipulation hair style for me so they keep me from having to restyle my hair daily, which helps to retain length, so I’d say they have not prevented me from retaining length lol thank you, hun 💕
So with the raking and smoothing method if your hair is moisturized with leave in and has water in it, your hair can still break? if you don’t use a styling product with slip??
It can break if your product doesn't have slip. You would be able to feel it and you would have hair on your hands. Does that make sense? I hope it does.
I like to rake and smooth my products on my hair. I also twist and squeeze the products when I do big sections to evenly distribute the product into my hair. Btw, I have noticed that my hair is finally to see more definition with and without products and my drying time is much faster now since I started doing your wash day routine about 3months now 🤗😏
Greetings, Takira, great vid, nice content, you really hv thorough info for a newbie like me doing my own hair. Salon getting expensive, been natural for a min. And styling my own hair is new for me 😊 Glad I ran across your vids, surprised you don't hv way more subs. 🫅🏽🔥💯

Takira Thompson Rake for Twist Out and braid outs, def shingle for WNG. It changes the game 👌🏾

Takira Thompson I just love being natural 😩♥️, and I’m a lazy natural too. Anytime girly🤗
I do the Dickey Method, so I apply my product in the shower and then I shake my hair to encourage clumping. I don't have time or patience for all the sectioning and whatnot tbh.
BklynBabe I’ve never heard of that method 🤔 but it’s intriguing lol 💕

beau knows88 I can definitely see that being the case without smoothing 😩 and yess, can’t go wrong with shingling 💕
So THAT is why my roots are always puffy? :/
Chin926 could be!! With wash n goes its all about technique...

I had been wondering what was up with all of the different wash and go methods. Thanks for this!
T C no problem, hun! ❤️💗
I prefer to smooth and rake but if the gel doesn't have slip I'll shingle.

❤️❤️❤️ I typically smooth or rake and if it’s not working then I would shingle just like you said it all depends on what products I’m using tfs
Tiffany Rauls yes ma’am! 🙌🏾🙌🏾 & no problem, love 🤗
Simply beautiful! So much definition! I love your techniques. I use all three🤗🤗🤗

Thank you so much for this video! It helped me tremendously with my wash n go today!
jhambrick27 awww, yay! 🙌🏾 I’m so glad it could help, love! 🤗💕
I struggle with definition, my hair always turns out frizzy when it dries idk what I’m doing wrong 😭 maybe smaller sections will help
Did the smaller section help??
Jasmine 👸🏾 yessss!! I section my hair in 4’s instead of 2 and i use gel

Whats the best method for overnight preservation? And what deep conditioner did you use?
Equilla Butler I pineapple! My hair preservation routine is linked in the description box & I believe I used the TGIN Honey Miracle Hair Mask 💕
@@TakiraThompson omg thanks so much for the quick response new subbie love the results of all three 😍💕

Minimal Assembly I’m thinking I used my TGIN Honey Miracle Hair Mask 💕
Thanks for sharing! ❤️
Ali B no problem, love 🤗
I do shingling when I use gels because my hair would dry clumped together. Otherwise i do smooth and rake.
PunkGirlRock that makes sense to me 🤗💕
