I have a Sony x700 and it freezes up two but I learned to check the disk for dirt or other foreign smudges or wipe with clean water.also check if players are too hot that player needs to be cooled down.
My X700 skipped every 30 seconds. I got a Panasonic 820 and it has never glitched.
I have an LG UBK90 UHD 4K player which happens to be multi region. I soon hopefully plan to get a Sony UBP-X800M2 4K player also multi region as well.
Yes the gui is bad on the Panna’s but the quality of the 9000 is great. One playeris missing, the magnetar
I tried out a SONY UBP-X800M2 and I noticed my ALIENS and DUNE (Part I) 4K UHD discs show bad chromatic aberration in some high contrast scenes. I compared this to the streaming versions (also in 4K HDR) and it's not present on those.
Is it my TV? Is it the player? I returned the Sony player and am waiting to get another one until I have clarification on that bad purple fringing on very bright areas. My TV is a Samsung UN75RU8000FXZA 75" 4K TV.
I got a stash of old DVDs with documentary films mostly in some sort of AVI format. Not knowing too much about all these abbreviations on videos and sound, but they are a bit old. Some is in MKV.
Question if the Panasonic UB820 could play such DVD.
Me too. It would be nice to get an answer to this question.
Yes, it supports DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW, BD-ROM, BD-R, BD-RE, DVD-Video, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, CD-DA, BD-Video, BD-R DL, BD-RE DL, CD, CD-Audio, Blu-ray Ultra HD. Moreover it should upscale 480p video of the DVD to the 4k resolution
Disregard the part where the vid claims that the Sony Ubp-x800m2 does not support Dolby Vision. It DOES support Dolby Vision.
True, bad review!
Panasonic 820 is multi-region?
I just recently bought the Panasonic UB420 on sale for Black Friday. I know it's not the very best but I feel it's good enough for me and my use case. I also stream a lot of my content but I'm thinking about canceling some of my subscriptions. Streaming is really getting too expensive. I cut my cable sub off to start streaming. It's almost as expensive as cable. I hope I'm happy with 4K blu ray now. 😊
just got one myself. Disappointed the 2nd hdmi audio out doesn't support Dolby Atmos if the 4K hdmi output is used. I wanted to run video to my 4K tv but run the separate audio to my Denon atmos receiver.
I don't like running video thru the receiver when I can avoid it.
Buying physical media is also expensive though.
I own panny UB820 and UB9000 they have never skipped a beat as yet🤞🏻 i had my 820 sent away and chipped for blu rays best money ever spent
chipped for blurays? does it not support standard bluray format?
@@mattcoops82 yeah it plays blu rays out box. And upscales them its fantastic. I sent mine away to get chipped to play any region blu rays.
It was region B locked out box
Super cool 😎 🤩
0:29 ⇢ 1- Panasonic DP-UB9000 STILL THE BEST, AGREE !!!!
what about 4k region free drives?
I had the Sony X700 but it kept freezing when playing 4k discs, After trying lots of suggestions to fix this i got fed up with it & got rid of it, Now have Panasonic UB 820 works fine.
Me too! I have always loved Sony products, but the X700 skipped like every 20 seconds. I too got the Panasonic 820 and it is awesome! I actually think it improved the picture too.
Oh my god
The sony one does support Dolby Vision.
Why do 4k movies freeze up in your player i have a sony and have had movies freeze up more then once and had to restart them
I have 2 Sony x700's and both of them have freezing and lock up issues. Some 4K discs play fine (BD66) and others are a nightmare(BD100). Made the recommended changes in the settings menu, no change. Meticulous cleaning does help sometimes. Bought a Panasonic UB420 and my worst freezing discs played without a single glitch. Get a Panasonic and start loving 4K again!
@@frankcolumbo4559that’s good to hear! I’m having the same issue with my Sony x800, none of the setting changes have made a difference.
I had the exact same situation, and my new Panasonic 820 is perfect too. The Sony X700 skipped at least 2-3 times a minute.@@frankcolumbo4559
I want a blu-ray player too.
Are any of these players region free? I'm specifically asking in reference to non USA blu ray discs (not 4k). If not, what is the best region free blu ray player?
The best blu-ray players hands down right now is the Magnetar UDP-800 and UDP-900 and you can even pay extra to get a version that is region free like you want
I just bought a Panasonic UB420😊
I thought I saw at the beginning a Sony s-01 Blu-ray player
If only Panasonic would make an upgraded version of the 820 with a metal case.
As it is the 820 is excellent, but let down by it's plastic lightweight build which robs you
of pride of ownership.
Oppo are sorely missed, with only Magnetar filling the gap, but how long will they be around?
They do - it's the UB 9000.
The 9000 is way too expensive, all i want is an 820 in a metal case
at a sensible price.@@jonwilliams6996
Pio = missed 1000 times nore....
And like Oppo the 9000 is overpriced, a lot of money just for a metal case!@@jonwilliams6996
What's inside the 820 is more important than the plastic lightweight build, its aesthetic looks would be just the same even if it had a metal case!😅
All these players are ancient. The Sony is a known freeze-up player.
The 820 is perfect though?
@@YodeslaIt's not perfect but it's a nice player.
Thank you. Won’t waste my time
I had a Sony x700 and it skipped every 20 seconds. I replaced with a Panasonic 820 and it's been perfect so far.@@Yodesla
@@Yodesla Panasonic 820 is junk, freezes all the timw!
ok
Reavon and Magnetar will play everything. These all have their own limitations.
I'm still rocking my Oppo UDP203 but need another player. I'm looking at the Panny 9000 cause I don't know much about Reavon. Magnetar is over-the-top but I want something similar to my Oppo in features and build quality.
@@mistergsf I have the 9000, upstairs, gathering dust. Just too limited on what it can play. If all you're going to play are movies and CD's, it's excellent.
@@marcgoldstein2957 I only have a few SACDs and DVD-A discs in my collection so my UDP203 can handle that. Also, I still have my Oppo BDP83 in great condition which can play them also. So I guess I want a backup 4K Blu-Ray mainly for movies. My friend has a UB820. It's nice and compact and plays great but I wish it had a better build quality.
it's 3D
Sony company is very good company
i think i have sony 800m2 i dont know, maybe 4 years allready😂 it is so fkn stupid at turning on, and disk loading, rc is such a cheap piece of shit and interface is kind of 20 years old 😂 and its still - new product 😂
Panasonic UB820K is the worst player I've ever had. It stops playing 4ks after a little over 1 year. My 1st one stopped playing 4ks while the blu ray kept playing discs. I bought another same model. Same exact issue at around the same exact time frame. Funny when the warranty is only for 1 year. Total bullshit and a rip off at $450 pricetag.
@johnnydarko - What utter rubbish you spout!!😂😅
@grahamhall247 Rubbish my ass. Every word of that comment is true. 1 Samsung and 2 Panasonic UB820k's in 4 years. Going to try a Sony when I get the cash. The only rubbish was the pricetag. They are actually $499.99 + tax which rounds out at around $550 I paid for each.
You should buy it from a good place were you get 6 year guarantee. Richer Sounds UK.
Panasonic has the worst user interface and remotes of any brand.
It would have been bad in the 90s.
DON’T BLAME PANASONIC FOR YOU BEING AN IMBECILE 😂😂😂.
@@paulhalucha526I know !
Yep, they suck in the remote and interface department. But close to the Best around when it comes to Video and Sound output
sony 800m2 is the stupiddest disk and system loading of all times. you have to wait few minutes till you understand is it on or off and when the fk it will open tray😂
