    Stuff we use:
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
    AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

It's the job of agents and managers to discover and promote talent. Obviously, agents are only interested in exploiting already established clients but balance is required. Old clients will fade and so it's in the interest of agents to actively seek clients. It's a lot like panning for gold but it's the job.

Its called music business. Unfortunately, 99.99% of creatives end up with your problem. I quit music for professional reasons because I didn't have a team. You need a team. Period. There is no other way around it. Build a team by marketing yourself as a super kind, cool, and genuine person with a healthy passion for music and build that team by marketing how lovely a person you are. Not a kiss ass or suck up but truly genuine and kind person. Maybe use this conversation to apply it this way in your own life and go ahead - succeed!

Yeah, this is my problem. All the story ideas, talent, hustle, and knowledge loses out to the person who marketed and kissed booty better. Le sigh.

Not always. You have to find innovative ways to distribute your work if you really believe in it or learn more skills to do so.

Once you accept the fact that life isn’t fair, it’s easier. So many people make it by being well connected. Talent really does come second. Sad but true.

    Enlightened…except.
Some persons truly want to believe that they are, for example, screenwriters, yet are more wired to either nursing or being a drywall wizard. Surrounding oneself with persons who categorically affirm that your screenplay attempts are 100% worthwhile (when they are not), are not your true friends. There is a soberness; a circumspection to one’s own life which is critical to personal happiness. Finding this is key.

Only you know when your screenplay are 100% worthwhile. No one else can help you with that

Unless you're George Lucas or someone at that level, I really don't think you could ever get 100% positive feedback. If you're being honest with yourself and you put your work out into the world, you'll eventually get some honest critique of your work. Not saying some people aren't fooling themselves but how do you know until you at least try?

@@emhu2594 It is. As an artist, it is up to you to know what you want to create and only you know if you got where you want. Other people will judge you based on what they like and their perception of what art should be, which is often irrelevant whether the critcism is good or bad.

Er...no talent will always carry you on...of course marketing helps but how many things made (around 99%) have relied on hype and marketing and yet it's failed miserably because it was wretched (too many to count) it depends also if your film is an Indy or big blockbuster.
