some of my fondest memories in life are of YMSB at NWSS. i was 8 years old at this show, with my whole family. hula hoopin at the top of the hill & munchin on my aunt’s homemade banana bread
Jeff is always on my mind and has been since that June day. I am glad I always allowed myself to enjoy JA and YMSB even with the drama and on stage problems at times. Love the ones you love.
I saw yonder for the first time I think in 1999 or 2000...at Grand Targee ski resort in Idaho. I'm from wilson nc and was living in wilson wyoming... right beside Jackson's Hole (even though we always just say jackson). Anyway, they blew my mind! They had a few freshly produced elevation cd's...I still have it to this day. That set was epic! Jeff and the boys played past curfue... and when someone pulled the plug they stepped down off stage and kept on jamming. One of those songs was ozzy Osborne's crazy train! It was truly wild and free!!!
I went to see ymsb years later in ashville nc. Was sad to see jeff not there. Heard things had gotten a little too sideways and he wasn't playing with them anymore. Years after that I was in hot springs nc at the french broad river festival, I told my girlfriend, whom I'm still with, that whoever was playing on stage sounded like yonder. Specifically like jeff...as i walked closer there was no mistaking it...and when i got where i could see i was thrilled to see jeff jamming....but of course he had a different band. Again i was excited about seeing and hearing him again....then some years later I was sad to learn he had passed. I've never posted anything like this. I dont do social media. Just saw this thread while watching nwss. Just felt like saying rest in peace wild man! And thank you for being so entertaining and for being of such good memories to me!
....then 6 or 8 years later I found myself at Telluride bluegrass festival...my ticket was for the next day but we caught wind that yonder was doing a little jam session on top of the mountain...somehow I didn't have a ticket or access so after riding the gondola up, I had to sit outside and watch everyone else go in, and time went by and the line dwindled to nothing, and there I sat by myself missing my favorite band. After over an hour of sitting outside the door, a bouncer opened the door and said come on in man. I was ecstatic. I wondered if I'd missed the concerf....I made my way through the happy crowd and was somehow able to get to the front of the stage, to find that they hadn't even started yet! And they came out and dedicated the show to a guy who had filmed the show in Idaho where I first saw them so long ago. They said this guy had shown that film to someone and was responsible for them getting their big break?/contact? But in remembrance of him (sorry dont know his name) they decided to play that play list from grande targee, and after not seeing them for so long it was like deja vue!!!! Again my mind was blown, jeff and the crew were still awesome! The experience was absolutely great!!! I'm thankful for it. What a band of wild and talented rascals!

We were at this show. The whole festival was amazing. When Drew and Vince came out was the best!
