I've done alot of research on this, I've studied ALOT of records in latin, (I spent alot of money on my masters in ancient roman history) it is true that they definitely looked down upon, but just as entertainers, but with that being said alot of the gladiators were considered celebrities they even had trading cards, another thing I want to point out is that while some of the armour was from different cultures, but the armour the gladiator wore was actually based on there class, a "murmillo" generally fought with a greave on his right arm a full helmet with a sword and scutum. A "retiarius" had almost no armour, bought fought with a net, a trident and a dagger. One other thing I do want to point out is that the the trained gladiators rarely would be killed, stuff did happen obviously, but generally about a majority of them did survive. Fight to the death matches generally happens with slaves, or captured prisoners of war, and convicts. Also the fights and classes did change overtime and throughout the years. So alot of things did change, it never stayed the same.
It's so weird how modern event production is really no different except without the killing. I had no idea the event design was so complex. Really mind blowing honestly.

Life as a German citizen in World War II: 18 year old in 1942: **whistles as he walks to school** Nazi Government: where u going? German boy: to school Nazi Government: lol no **grabs and yeets to Stalingrad**
Sounds like some fun times the ancestors were having! When was a better time to be alive? Covid-19 era, or the climax of the Roman empire before it's fall?
Honsetly it had to be wild living back then. Every day they lived it up. Yea, health wasn't greatest and you could easily die from wounds. But I would love to see how life was truly like. I try to imagine it and I can see it but still so modern in my brain thinking wise. It's just like what did they do!? What was a day in the life of an average person? It's just so interesting. I love the Roman era.
It is fascinating but let's face it, life was shit back then. Most of us would have ended up slaves if you managed to live somewhere in the empire. You'd have been lucky to become a citizen (one of your better chances would have been to become a soldier). Of course, that is, if you survived your childhood (I wouldn't have for sure). But at the same time yeah I'm fascinated too.
Commodus was also eventually killed by a gladiator named Narcissus but not in the games. He strangled him in his bath after someone else failed to poison him

Hello! Your narrator voice is fabulous & the content of the videos themselves is the cherry on top! Thank you for making history fun & entertaining. How about a video on Clara Barton from the Civil War & founder of the American Red Cross? Looked & so far haven’t found too many videos about her.
Could you do a video on how if a Polish citizen would go to Haiti, and request Haitian citizenship, they would give it to him. The reason for this is that during the fight for independence from France, Napeolon sent Polish troops to Haiti to stop this fight, but the Polish troops actually turned their heads, and helped out the Haitians. Would be really cool if you made a video on this. Thanks!

You forgot to mention reason why even most lightly armored gladiators had their extremities armored was both for the excitement factor of fighting with exposed chests and thighs with major arteries in them. and for the other reason that gladiator houses got monetary compensation for a dead gladiator but not a wounded one. So if their gladiator was going to get hit by a sword, better that it had a high chance of killing them because a gladiator with a crippled arm was practically useless and waste of money for his house.
