Dear MrSelfridge, You have inspired many beginning saxophone players such as me! I love that you advance the beginning saxophone players to achieve their music related goals. You also have a way of teaching the saxophone player the faster and the easy way to understand. I would always think of you as the inspiring musician! I hope others from future would be inspired from you! From Marina Banzeruk :)

Hello! I'm a german music teacher at school (Gymnasium) and I'm trying to establish "JRI - The Instrumental Series" by E. Gordon in my music lessons! You use this books, right? Your videos are really great! I am very interested in your experiences, because I found the Music Learning Theory from E. Gordon amazing. But in germany almost nobody knows it. Do you have any videos from your lessons in class? I read Gordon and I am excited, but I need some results for my colleagues. Do you know what I mean? One question to your video: Why do you teach the note names at the beginning and not just the solfege? Hope, You answer me! Tobias
my FED sounds fine but when I play notes like A,B, or G I'll get a high sound that kinda sounds like a seagull. What am I doing wrong? If I go from D up to B it is very noticeable that once I hit G, it isn't proper at all.
Figured it out lol I left the plastic guard attached to my neck piece and connected that to the body lol. Woops. Once I removed it, sounded perfect. Thanks for help
Dominick Mattiello II most likely you are blowing too hard and putting your mouth to far onto the mouthpiece. If that isn't the case, your octave pin might be broken
sir I am learning to play sax, when i play c# with octave key pressed, the mouthpiece comes out of the mouth when i put pressure on the octave key from behind, please guide me how to come over this problem
It's about tuning your saxophone, you can tune your saxophone by moving the mouthpiece further down to make it's sound sharper(higher) or you can change your embouchure. The more pressure you put on your reed by squeezing sharper the sound becomes.I recommend finding your comfortable embouchure and then tuning your saxophone, like don't hurt yourself trying to tighten the bite instead move the mouthpiece down until you get desired sound and comfort. You can use a tuner from your phone or computer too.
The sound on youtube is distorted so sound will not be the same also your tone my be more full than his I played with about 10 people a month or two ago and we all had are on sound you just need to make sure you play in tune dont worry about having his sound
From one teacher to another... you're Awesome!
