I remember surfing there as a grom about 13 back in 1969 and its was such a spooky place you absolutely knew there were OTHERS in the water and this was way pre-leash. The currents are sometimes really gnarly I lost my board and swam in only to find it almost back to the lineup.
Had the same no leash experience a few years later with a triple hurricane combo swell hitting the reef perfectly for long reeling lefts, strong current then
Drone footage combined with perfect waves combined with decent tunes. Great video! I'm glad I searched for sebastian inlet. Im thinking about hitting it up one of these days.
- gosurfinghawaii I live and surf here in Florida, and you’re exactly rite!! Its all about having fun, and connecting with our beautiful mother, and her amazing ocean!! 🤙🏻
Florida… harder than it looks… this is at the entrance to a huge inlet that has mega currents that flow through this entire lineup ! Check it out it’s a state park.
Stand up for GOOD it's a shoal. There no real hole. Lol. It's just deeper on one side and kicks up the surf really well. There is no hole filled with sharks and lobster. It is sometime about 4 ft deep in the tough of the waves. There are allot of sharks on an out going tide because of all the bait being pushed out of the inlet. Usually spinner sharks.
Stand up for GOOD ive seen it break a couple of times, but wasnt able to pump my balls enough to go out there. Yes, i freak out abour sharks. But a day like in this video? Id probably go out for one wave.
Kind of interesting the last two days I've had videos pop up on my RUclips about Sebastian Inlet down there in Florida. So very cool watching the other video was going through some of the history of the big contest that were held there. Where is everybody I would think that on a day like this that place would be packed out. RLTW 3/75
Well I got to body surf there anyway haha. 1978-79. 13-14 years old. Snorkeled in the inlet. Incredibly beautiful water. Later on a friend of mine told me that a friend of his, an actual surfer caught a tube there. Haha memories
@@ryanlong8967 Cool! Just curious, was the sand rippled? I just remember I could see for about 20 feet and the water was only about 3' deep for a huge area, just a sandy bottom, no vegetation or coquina. No fish. And there was a wicked undertow near the jetty when I was body surfing, with a very steep beach. (Amazing to remember conditions like that after 43-44 years.) Very beautiful...ha! Thanks for sharing that!
Last year was my first time there. We snorkeled the cove/ rocks incoming tide. The entrance of the cove had schools of snook around the rocks and large jack crevale swimming around. Manatees came into the cove entrance also. Plan on trying along the inside of jetty before the bridge and drifting towards cove on income tide. Sebastian inlet live cam is cool too
I remember this day, you had to stay in the pocket once you got too forward the power was the traditional Florida weak. A fun day still the shelf will always power down our waves.
@Martin Luther where in south florida you guys are trippin lol, lived in deerfield my whole life and only time theirs waves like this are a perfect hurricane route.
@@alvatrous maybe we have different ideas of what a “solid” swell looks like. I’m not talking about the usual wind chop. I’m talking about proper swell and waves. Like the week after hurricane sandy!!
Great waves but all the surfers (except for one long boarder) are all sitting way in on the inside reform section. Every outside set has no one riding it. Why wasn't I there?? I live over on the S.W. coast of Florida (Gulf of Mexico).
I can sorta look at this now, I was severely bitten by what experts said was probably a 4 to 6 ft bull shark in Sept.1974. Live in Huntington Beach now. 68 y.o. still surf thank god...
I surfed out there, bigger than this, just a friend and I and it was likely right at about September 1974. We were fresh out of high school, had just gone down to El Salvador and surfed La Libertad Point for 2.5 months.....about June, July and half into August. We were from Sarasota so we would zip over to Sebastian Inlet whenever we could. Back from El Salvador we were looking for the biggest spot we could find......Monster Hole is creepy out there, especially when your friend has caught a wave and you are out there alone! There was a big storm out in the Atlantic in mid-October so we headed for Cape Hatteras for 10 days at caught it at its best. That would put our surf at Monster Hole right about in September.
Nice Drone footage but this is far from going off for this break that's actually a really small day. When the swell is right and you get a good one that actually comes through that place can be really really fun to surf but the faces of got to be at least 20 foot
Not this day . Most of the time it’s a mushy close-out. I have caught it good a few times though. Long paddle and bettter spots especially before they ruined first peak at the inlet.
Sick video it's a shame that it has to be head high for guys to paddle out I would love to surf it even when it's breaking clean like 4-5ft and off shore, would be super fun but those days no body wants to go and I'm sure as hell not gonna go by my self
I've surfed this "hole" since 89'... This is NOT "going off" for here, by a long shot, best bet for best results here is what is tide doing.. You woulda been better off flyin yer drone up the road a couple o miles and seein what Gravy is doin in the water that day not shouting, hating, complaining, just cold hard facts. ( hey! Did you get that wing footage?)

"Ya Man" No leash, No Wave Runners. Just Pure Heart and Determination! Also 7 years before JAWS! Lol!🤙
yeah if there were no leashes I think the crowded break problem likely goes away

I’ll meet you there
Just sitting out at Monster hole is scary enough. HUGE sharks!
Miss Florida loved the beaches! Subscribed
Good to see Florida getting some waves 2 feet or 20 who cares as long as your having fun! :-)

Monster sharks right near those surfers too...I saw a 9 foot hammerhead there once from the pier...
I was in the river by the inlet on a 14 foot boat and there was a pretty big hammerhead that swam by had to be almost as big as the boat.
Nice edit!!
Good drone work and nice waves, but seems no one knows where or when to take off!
Maybe the outgoing tide or an increase in swell size was affecting take off points?
welcome to florida lol
Florida… harder than it looks… this is at the entrance to a huge inlet that has mega currents that flow through this entire lineup ! Check it out it’s a state park.
And then the lightning with the summer thunderstorms it's a long paddle in so you might as well stay out and endure the lightning.
Its called monster hole for a reason.
12 foot hammerhead, I heard. Idk.

Did the guy way out the back ever catch one?
How big are those waves there?

Just snorkeled it recently, and it’s great. Wow it must have been even better back then!

Damn it’s kinda looking like the Mentawais out there, with the right positioning you’d be set for the sets!
not even close....
Looks like any given day in Town, Oahu
I saw this at a solid 15 feet in early 70's. Looked like Sunset beach.
Surfed there years ago and it was way bigger and better but scary mercury water.
Rod Medrano Waves look bigger in person and when you're actually in the sea. These are already really high!
What is mercury water??? lol

TeeJayParkour Sebastian isn’t south Florida.

Never seen so many inept surfers in one spot on a decent day.
They're all scared of the spinners.
That’s what I thought too
Love it.

Allot of kooks out there. Report called for big waves so they wanted to be out there but scared to ride. Lol. Either way, beautiful day!
I was thinking the same damn thing!! Buncha kooks
Thats how it is in the great lakes. People drive hours for waves that a lot of ocean surfers would spit on haha
Where can I learn to surf...been putting it off for years man..come on

Looks like nice fun surf- similar to N Cal when it's shapely. Isn't what's his name- Kelly Slater, from Sebastian inlet? Haha.
hes from coco beach but pretty close and great spots to surf and even better spots to se sharks

Monster hole is the name is actually the complete opposite being a shallow sand shoal off the coast

Waves typical at bogue inlet NC are 6-8 up to 10. Want some REAL waves with beach boys music, come to Hatteras. Hahaha
I crashed a 100 times before I ever rode one

I would go with you. I surf on lake michigan so anything is ride-able for me
its not good out there till its at least head high, bring your paddling arms, the current will suck you to the Bahamas.
Sick!
